Our readers come to Pakistan Era when they need to get something done with the government: a CNIC, a licence, a welfare payment, a land record or a complaint that nobody answers.
We are hiring a public services journalist who follows every process from the official portal, reports policy changes as they are notified, and turns them into guides people can act on the same day.
What you will do
- Report federal and provincial service changes: NADRA, passports, welfare programmes, licensing, land and property, and utilities.
- Write practical guides that follow the official portal step by step, with the real fee, deadline and helpline.
- Separate federal from provincial responsibility and announcements from notified decisions.
- Verify every fee, deadline and procedure on the responsible department's own page, and record the evidence trail.
- Flag lookalike sites and fraud, and keep guides current when procedures change.
What we are looking for
- A master's degree (MS, MPhil or MA) in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Policy, Public Administration or a related field.
- At least 2 years of published reporting on government, public policy or civic issues. Please share links.
- Excellent written English. Working Urdu is expected.
- A good understanding of how federal and provincial government works in Pakistan.
- Patience with official portals, notifications and gazettes, and the habit of reading them in full.
- Able to write short, clear, step-by-step instructions.
Good to have
- Knowledge of Right to Information laws and how to use them.
- Experience covering a provincial government or district administration.
- Contacts in government departments or citizen service centres.
