This Privacy Policy explains what information Pakistan Era collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It applies to everything on pakera.pk.
Who operates this website
Pakistan Era is published through pakera.pk and is operated by Umer Kureshi, who acts as administrator of the publication and is responsible for how information described in this policy is handled.
Throughout this policy, "we", "us", "our" and "the publication" mean Pakistan Era, published through pakera.pk. Where an older version of this page referred to "the Company" or "the Website", it meant the same thing.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@pakera.pk, which is the only address we use for privacy requests.

Newsletter and Google Reader Revenue Manager
Pakera.pk, published as Pakistan Era, previously offered newsletter registration through Google Reader Revenue Manager. That sign up prompt has been removed from the site. If you subscribed while it ran, everything in this section still applies to your information.
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect your email address and, where voluntarily provided, your first and last name. You may sign up using your Google account or by entering your email address manually.
We use this information to manage your subscription and send you news, articles, publication updates and other communications that you have requested.
Google may process information submitted through Reader Revenue Manager as a service provider and in accordance with Google's applicable privacy terms. Subscriber information may also be accessed and managed by authorised members of the Pakera.pk team.
We do not sell newsletter subscriber information. We retain your subscription information for as long as you remain subscribed or for as long as reasonably required for legal, security and administrative purposes.
You may withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by selecting the unsubscribe link included in our emails or by contacting us at info@pakera.pk.
Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information: what you give us deliberately, and what is recorded automatically as you browse.

Usage data includes things like which pages you visited, how long you stayed, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device type. It is collected in aggregate and we do not use it to identify individuals.
Third party service providers
We use a small number of external services, and each one processes some information on our behalf.
- Google Reader Revenue Manager, which handles newsletter registration and reader engagement prompts.
- Google Analytics, which measures how the site is used. This uses cookies and records usage data.
- Google AdSense, which serves advertising. Google may use cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Our email provider, which delivers contact form messages and newsletter emails to and from info@pakera.pk.
- Our hosting provider, which serves the website and keeps standard server logs.
Each of these operates under its own privacy terms. We share only what a provider needs to perform its function, and none of them are permitted to sell your information.
Advertising on this website
Pakera.pk is free to read and carries advertising, which is what pays for it. Automatic ads are served by Google AdSense under publisher id ca-pub-7962924284118422. We also sell sponsored articles and paid product reviews directly, and anything paid for is labelled as such on the page.
Google and the vendors it works with use cookies to serve advertising based on your previous visits to this and other websites. That is why an ad sometimes follows you around the internet. We do not choose which individual advertisement you are shown, and we are not told who you are.
You have three ways to control this.
- Turn off personalised ads from Google at My Ad Center. Advertising still appears, it simply stops being based on your browsing.
- Opt out of other vendors using the Digital Advertising Alliance's WebChoices tool, which lists around a hundred advertising companies beyond Google and lets you switch them off individually or all at once. The setting is stored in your browser, so you will need to repeat it on each browser and device you use.
- Block cookies outright in your browser, as described in the next section.
We never hand an advertiser your email address, your name, or anything you send through our contact form. Direct advertisers are shown audience numbers, never readers' details.
Advertising is kept separate from what we write. An advertiser cannot buy a favourable article, cannot see one before it goes up, and cannot have one taken down. If you see an ad on this site that is offensive, misleading or broken, send the page it appeared on to info@pakera.pk. We can block individual advertisers and whole categories, and we do.
Cookies and how to refuse them
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them for analytics and advertising, not to store anything you have typed.
You can refuse cookies through your browser settings, and every major browser allows this. Doing so does not stop you reading anything on pakera.pk, since none of our content is gated. It may make some advertising less relevant, which most people consider a fair trade.
Your privacy rights
You can ask us to do the following with information we hold about you.
- Access. Ask what information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
- Correction. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate, such as a misspelled name on a subscription.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete your information, which for newsletter subscribers means removing you entirely rather than only unsubscribing.
- Withdrawal of consent. Unsubscribe at any time, either from the link in any email or by writing to us.
Write to info@pakera.pk with your request. We will respond within a reasonable period, and we may need to confirm your identity first so that we do not disclose one person's information to another.
International processing
Pakistan Era is published from Pakistan, but the technology providers listed above operate globally. Information collected through this website may therefore be processed on servers outside Pakistan, including in the United States and Europe.
This is unavoidable for any website using mainstream analytics, advertising or email infrastructure, and we mention it because you are entitled to know rather than because it is unusual.
Children
This publication is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Complaints and requests
If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, write to info@pakera.pk and say so plainly. We would rather hear about a problem directly than have you find no way to raise it.
Use that same address for access, correction and deletion requests. It is monitored by the publication and is the only contact address we use for privacy matters.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when what we do changes, and the date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
