Pakistan Era is growing its sports desk. We cover Pakistani sport the way readers actually follow it: results the moment they are official, fixtures in Pakistan time, where to watch, and what a result means for the table, the next match or an Olympic place.
We are looking for a sports journalist who can work quickly without cutting corners. Every score, scorer and time on our pages comes from the official results system or the governing body, never from a score app or another website.
What you will do
- Write same-day news on Pakistan's matches and athletes across cricket, hockey, athletics, football, squash and multi-sport events such as the Asian Games and Olympics.
- Build fixtures, results and where-to-watch guides with times in PKT, read from the PCB, PHF, ICC, FIH and official competition results systems.
- Verify every figure at its official source and record the evidence trail with each article.
- Write clear, direct headlines in simple English, and social cards that state the result in one sentence.
- Update live pages as events progress and publish corrections openly.
- Pitch explainers and data-led pieces, such as qualification scenarios and records, that other outlets do not do.
What we are looking for
- A master's degree (MS, MPhil or MA) in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Sports Sciences or a related field.
- At least 2 years of published sports reporting, online or print. Please share links.
- Excellent written English. Working Urdu is expected.
- Strong knowledge of Pakistan cricket and hockey, and a working understanding of other Olympic sports.
- A verification-first approach: you can find and read official results, scorecards and regulations.
- Able to work to tight deadlines, including evenings and weekends when matches demand it.
Good to have
- Experience with a CMS, basic SEO and Google Search Console.
- Comfort with data: tables, standings and simple charts.
- Contacts in Pakistan's sports federations and clubs.
