Pakistan Era is expanding its editorial work to Urdu. Millions of Pakistanis search and read in Urdu first, and they deserve the same thing our English readers get: what changed, what it costs, the deadline, and how to get it done, all checked at the official source.

We are hiring an Urdu journalist to help build that coverage from the start. You will write original Urdu news and guides, adapt our strongest English guides for Urdu readers, and help set the style the Urdu desk will follow.

What you will do

  • Write same-day Urdu news on prices, public services, education, sport and policy, read from the official source.
  • Adapt Pakistan Era's English guides into natural, simple Urdu, rewriting rather than translating word for word.
  • Verify every fee, date and figure on the responsible authority's own page, and record the evidence trail.
  • Write clear Urdu headlines and social cards that state the news in one line.
  • Help build the Urdu desk's style guide: spelling, numbers, English loanwords and how we name institutions.
  • Keep Urdu guides current when procedures change, and publish corrections openly.

What we are looking for

  • A master's degree (MS, MPhil or MA) in Journalism, Mass Communication, Urdu or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of published Urdu reporting or writing, online or print. Please share links.
  • Excellent written Urdu, with fast and accurate Unicode Urdu typing. InPage-only work is not enough for the web.
  • Good reading English, because many official notifications and documents are published only in English.
  • A verification-first approach: you find and read the official notification instead of repeating what others wrote.
  • Able to write simple, short sentences that any reader can follow.

Good to have

  • Experience with an Urdu news website, Urdu SEO and Google Search Console.
  • Voice-over or video experience for Urdu explainers.
  • Familiarity with Roman Urdu search habits and social media audiences.

What we offer

  • A byline and an author profile on a fast-growing Pakistani news and guides site.
  • Clear editorial standards, a real verification process and editors who read your work.
  • Flexible hybrid or remote working within Pakistan.
  • A salary of Rs 40,000 to Rs 80,000 a month, based on experience, hours and output.
