Pakistan have played 42 Tests at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and won 13, lost 7 and drawn 22. Only two Tests have been played there since 2009: Australia won in March 2022 and Pakistan beat South Africa by 93 runs in October 2025. Gaddafi hosts the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka from 17 November 2026.

We went through every Test played at the ground since the first one, against Australia in November 1959, and counted the results. Below is Pakistan's record, results by decade, the highest totals, the record against Sri Lanka and what it means for the Lahore Test.

Pakistan have won 13 and lost 7 of 42 Tests in Lahore

Gaddafi Stadium has staged 42 Tests, all with Pakistan as hosts. Pakistan won 13, lost 7 and drew 22. More than half of all Tests at the ground have been drawn, which says a lot about how flat Lahore pitches were for most of its history.

Pakistan Test record at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore: 13 won, 7 lost, 22 drawn

Pakistan lost the first two Tests at the ground, to Australia in 1959 and England in 1961. Their first win in Lahore came only in October 1976, against New Zealand, in the ground's eighth Test.

Results by decade show the draws fading

Draws ruled Lahore in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. From 2002 onwards, Pakistan won far more often. Since 2002 Pakistan have won 6 of the 11 Tests at the ground, and only one of those wins came after 2009.

Pakistan's 699-5 is the highest total at Gaddafi

The biggest innings at the ground is Pakistan's 699-5 against India in December 1989. The top five totals were all made between 1989 and 2009, and four of them were made by Pakistan.

What the Lahore record says before the 2nd Test

Lahore used to mean a draw, but the recent Tests have both produced a result. Here is what to take from the numbers:

  1. 22 of 42 Tests at Gaddafi were drawn, more than half. At Rawalpindi only 4 of 17 were.
  2. The last two Tests, in 2022 and 2025, both ended in a result.
  3. Pakistan won the most recent one, by 93 runs against South Africa in October 2025.
  4. Sri Lanka's only Lahore win was the 2002 Asian Test Championship final.
  5. The 2nd Test starts on 17 November at 9:30 am PKT. Tickets are on our page for the 2nd Test tickets in Lahore.
