Pakistani students can apply for an 80 percent tuition waiver at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) until 31 December 2026. That brings tuition to US$180 a semester. Pakistan has four seats. You apply directly on the BUP international students portal, not through HEC. Classes begin on 31 January 2027.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) advertised the offer on its announcements page. It is not a fully funded scholarship. You pay the remaining tuition, your room and your food. This guide shows what the waiver covers, what it does not, and how to apply step by step.

Know exactly what the BUP waiver covers

The waiver cuts tuition by 80 percent, which leaves US$180 per semester, according to the HEC notice. Accommodation and food are paid by the student. Pakistan has four designated seats under the SAARC offer for 2026 to 2027.

The HEC notice gives rough living costs of US$30 to US$40 a month for accommodation and US$50 to US$60 a month for food. Those are estimates quoted on the HEC page, not a BUP price list, so ask BUP for the current figures. There is no stipend, flight or visa money in the notice.

Add it up before you decide. For a four seat offer, the saving is real but you still need money for travel and daily costs for the whole stay.

Pick a programme from the five faculties

The notice lists programmes across five faculties: Arts and Social Science, Business Studies, Security and Strategic Studies, Science and Technology and Medical Studies. The Medical Studies list names Pharmacy. Check the exact level and entry rules on the BUP portal.

Some examples from the HEC list: Economics, Development Studies, Disaster Management and Public Administration under Arts and Social Science. BBA, Finance and Banking, Accounting and Marketing under Business Studies. International Relations, Law, Mass Communication and Peace and Conflict Studies under Security and Strategic Studies. ICT, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science and Environmental Science under Science and Technology.

BUP describes itself as Bangladesh's 31st public university, founded in 2008, with five faculties and eighteen departments. It says about 17 international students are in degree programmes. That is a small group, so ask what support new foreign students get.

Apply directly on the BUP international students portal

Applications go to BUP, not to HEC. HEC only advertises the offer and does not select students. Use the BUP International Students portal, finish the form before 31 December 2026 and keep a copy of every upload.

  1. Open the BUP international students portal, internationalstudents.bup.edu.bd.
  2. Choose your department and level, and read the entry rules for it.
  3. Fill in the form and upload your academic papers and passport.
  4. Submit before 31 December 2026 and save the confirmation.
  5. Write to the Office of International Affairs if you hear nothing, using the address shown on the BUP site.
Five steps to apply to BUP in Bangladesh as a Pakistani student

We could not see a full document list, fee table or test requirement on the BUP pages we opened on 8 October 2026. The portal page we read only gave an overview and an Office of International Affairs contact. Do not assume a fee-free application. Ask before you pay anything.

Prepare your papers and check your degree will be accepted at home

Attested degrees are the usual weak point. Before you leave, ask which documents BUP wants attested and where. Afterwards, a Bangladeshi degree must be recognised in Pakistan for jobs and further study.

Start with the steps to get your degree attested by HEC online for the papers you hold now. For a certificate issued abroad later, the guide to HEC equivalence for a foreign degree shows the process Pakistan uses. Ask the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad about the student visa, because we did not read a visa page for this guide.

What the BUP waiver pays and what the student still pays

If you want a fully funded option instead, compare it with the programmes in HEC scholarships closing in October 2026 and with the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship for Pakistanis.

Common questions about the BUP scholarship

These answers come from the HEC notice and the BUP pages we read. Where neither page gave an answer, we say so, and you should ask BUP before you pay a fee.

Is the BUP scholarship fully funded?

No. It is an 80 percent tuition waiver. You still pay US$180 per semester plus accommodation, food and travel.

Who selects the Pakistani students?

BUP does. HEC only advertises the offer. All selection and admission decisions are made by BUP.

What is the last date to apply?

31 December 2026, according to the HEC notice. Apply earlier, because portals can be slow near a deadline.

How many seats does Pakistan get?

Four, according to the same notice. Seats are shared across all programmes, so apply early.

Do I need IELTS?

We could not confirm a language test requirement. Ask the BUP Office of International Affairs before you book any test.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 8 October 2026. The offer details come from the HEC announcement for BUP scholarships for SAARC students 2026 to 2027. The university overview comes from the BUP international students site. We did not find an application fee, document list or visa rules, so they are not stated.
