DRAP Reportedly Fixes Flu Vaccine at Rs 1,304 and Meningitis Vaccine at Rs 1,356

DRAP is reported to cap flu vaccine at Rs 1,304 and meningitis vaccine at Rs 1,356 after Faisalabad overcharging. We could not see the circular. Check prices.

DRAP has reportedly set the influenza vaccine at Rs 1,304 and the meningitis vaccine at Rs 1,356 after complaints of black-market prices in Faisalabad, but we could not find that circular on DRAP's own website on 21 October 2026. Treat both figures as reported, not confirmed, until you see the notice or the pharmacy shows you a DRAP price.

The reports came out on 21 October 2026 and say the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) warned about flu and meningitis vaccines sold above price in Faisalabad. They say DRAP told officials to act against overcharging. They do not give the circular number, its date or the brand names. We read the DRAP website the same day and its list of updates from 1 October onward had no vaccine price circular. DRAP's last item that day was a rapid alert on four spurious medicine batches.

The Rs 1,304 and Rs 1,356 figures are reported, not read on DRAP's page

Our rule is simple: a price counts as fact only when the responsible authority publishes it. DRAP has not published this circular where we looked, so the two numbers stay "reported". The claim itself is specific, which makes it likely to exist, but we cannot see which product each number belongs to.

Our flu vaccine page said on 30 September that we found no official national price. The reports, if correct, would change that, so we have added a note there. The price in each report may also be a retail cap for one dose, not the price of a full pack.

DRAP's own price portal lists different brands and pack sizes

DRAP runs a public price portal for products it controls. We read its first page on 21 October 2026. Two vaccine families on it match the story, but neither entry has the reported amounts, so they cannot confirm or contradict the circular.

Product on DRAP's portalPackListed pricePrice per dose (our sum)Listing date
Influvac suspension for injection, Abbott Laboratories (Pakistan)0.5 ml x 10Rs 9,241.37Rs 924.1422 July 2026
Meningitis vaccine (Menactra), Hoechst Pakistan0.5 ml x 1Rs 6,402.56Rs 6,402.5623 July 2026
Meningitis vaccine (Menactra), Hoechst Pakistan0.5 ml x 5Rs 26,601.63Rs 5,320.3323 July 2026

The per-dose figures are our own division of the listed pack price. The portal's first page shows only ten products, so other flu and meningitis brands may be listed on later pages that we did not read.

Reported flu and meningitis vaccine prices beside DRAP price portal listings

The reported meningitis price is far below the Menactra listing

The reported Rs 1,356 is about one fifth of Menactra's listed Rs 6,402.56 for a single dose. That gap means the circular probably covers a different, cheaper product. It could also mean the report is wrong. We cannot tell which, so do not use Rs 1,356 as a bargaining price for Menactra.

The flu number is closer. The reported Rs 1,304 is above the Influvac sum of Rs 924.14 per dose. A clinic may add a fee to give the injection, as we noted in our flu vaccine guide. Ask for the brand and the pack price, then compare it with the portal entry.

Travellers feel overcharging first because the rules need proof of vaccination

Black-market pricing tends to appear when many people need a vaccine by a date. Saudi Arabia asks Umrah pilgrims for the meningitis vaccine, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa opened a Peshawar centre for travellers on 30 September. That centre is covered in our report on the KP flu and meningitis vaccination centre. The vaccine record you need for travel is explained in the NADRA vaccination card for Umrah.

We have not seen any official statement linking the Faisalabad complaints to travel demand. That link is our reading of the timing, not a finding.

Check the price before you pay and keep the receipt

Ask the pharmacy or clinic for the brand name, the pack size and the retail price. Search that product on DRAP's price portal. If the shop charges more than the listed price, keep the receipt and report it.

  1. Ask which brand you are being given and its batch number.
  2. Search the brand on DRAP's price portal and divide the pack price by the doses in the pack.
  3. Compare that sum with what you are asked to pay, and ask about any separate injection fee.
  4. If the price is higher, ask for a printed receipt with the shop name.
  5. Report the overcharge to DRAP on 0800-03727, open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
Steps to check a flu or meningitis vaccine price against DRAP before paying

DRAP's helpline hours come from the footer of its alert page, which we read on 21 October. For how a complaint to DRAP moves forward, see how to complain to DRAP. If a pack looks wrong, check it against DRAP's recalled batch alerts.

Two vaccine prices reported in a DRAP circular, not yet seen on DRAP's website

Common questions about the reported vaccine prices

Has DRAP fixed the flu vaccine price at Rs 1,304?

It is reported, not confirmed. The circular was not on DRAP's website when we read it on 21 October 2026.

Has DRAP fixed the meningitis vaccine price at Rs 1,356?

That is also reported only. The meningitis vaccine on DRAP's portal, Menactra, is listed at Rs 6,402.56 for one dose, so the reported figure likely covers a different product.

Is the overcharging only in Faisalabad?

The reports name Faisalabad only. They give no evidence for other cities, so we cannot say it is limited to one city.

Where can I see an official medicine or vaccine price?

DRAP publishes a price portal for products it controls. Search by brand name and check the pack size and the listing date.

What should I do if a pharmacy asks for more?

Ask for the DRAP price, keep the receipt and report it to DRAP on 0800-03727. Do not pay a black-market price for a vaccine you need by a travel date. Ask a government centre first.

Does the vaccine price include the injection fee?

We do not know. Reports do not say whether the amounts include a clinic fee for giving the injection. Ask before you agree to any total.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 21 October 2026. We read DRAP's homepage and its all-updates list for items from 1 October, and found no vaccine price circular. We read the first page of DRAP's price portal for the Influvac and Menactra entries above. The Rs 1,304 and Rs 1,356 figures, the Faisalabad location and the order to act against overcharging come from news reports, and we could not confirm them on an official page. We did not see the circular's number, date or brand names.
