Pakistan are ninth in the ICC men's Test team rankings with a rating of 71. Sri Lanka, their opponents in the two-Test series in November, are seventh on 75. West Indies are eighth on 74 and Bangladesh sixth on 77. To check it yourself, open the ICC's Test team table and read the row for Pakistan.

We opened the ICC's men's Test team table on 14 October 2026. Its rank date is 13 October. Every number below comes from that page, and the extra decimals are our own division.

Pakistan are ninth on 71, with Sri Lanka four points ahead

The ICC table puts Pakistan ninth with 1,623 points from 23 matches, a rating of 71. Sri Lanka are seventh on 75 from 19 matches. The gap to Sri Lanka is 4 rating points, and the gap to eighth-placed West Indies is 3.

ICC men's Test team rankings of 13 October 2026 with Pakistan ninth on 71 and Sri Lanka seventh on 75

Look at the bottom of the table. Zimbabwe are tenth on 17, so Pakistan are far above the last place. The real crowd is the four teams from sixth to ninth, who sit within 6 points of one another.

The unrounded gaps are 4.9 to Sri Lanka and 3.8 to West Indies

The ICC shows whole numbers, but the real ratings have decimals. Dividing points by matches gives Pakistan 70.6, Sri Lanka 75.5, West Indies 74.4 and Bangladesh 76.6. So the true gap to Sri Lanka is about 4.9 and to West Indies about 3.8. This is our own arithmetic from the ICC table.

The ICC says the team rating is the points scored divided by the match or series total, to the nearest whole number. That is why a team with fewer matches, such as Sri Lanka with 19, can move faster than a team with more.

  1. Open icc-cricket.com and choose Rankings.
  2. Pick Men's, then Team Rankings, then Test.
  3. Read the rank date above the table.
  4. Find Pakistan and note its matches and points.
  5. Divide points by matches to see the unrounded rating.
Five steps to check the ICC Test team ranking for Pakistan

The ICC Test table is not the World Test Championship table

These are two different tables. The ranking above is a rating over all recent Tests. The World Test Championship (WTC) table counts points won in the current two-year cycle. Pakistan sit last in the WTC with 4.63 per cent after 19 points were docked, as we reported in the WTC points table for 2025 to 2027.

The two tables answer different questions. The ranking tells you how strong a team looks over many matches. The WTC table tells you who is on course for the final. A good series against Sri Lanka can help both, but by different amounts.

If you only want to know who is the better Test side right now, use the ranking. If you want to know who reaches the final, use the WTC table.

The two Tests are in Rawalpindi and Lahore in November

The series has two Tests. The first is in Rawalpindi from 9 to 13 November and the second at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from 17 to 21 November, as our page on the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Test series dates and venues lists. Sri Lanka have named a 15-player Test squad, as the story on the Sri Lanka Test squad explains.

The ICC page does not publish a forecast of what a win or draw does to Pakistan's rating. It lists a rankings predictor among its tools, but we did not open it, so we give no projected rating. The ICC says rating points depend on the opponent's strength too, so a sum on a calculator is only a guess.

What we can say is simple. Pakistan will play two matches against the team seventh in the table. Both sides' ratings will be recalculated after the series, and the rank date on the table will change.

Check the rank date before you trust a screenshot

The page you read today will be out of date after the series. Always look at the rank date at the top. A screenshot from September may show an older Test table. In an earlier report we read the Test page dated 12 September, and it showed the same 71 for Pakistan.

Common questions about Pakistan's Test ranking

Where is Pakistan in the ICC Test team rankings?

Pakistan are ninth with a rating of 71 in the table dated 13 October 2026. Zimbabwe are tenth on 17.

Who is above Pakistan in the Test table?

West Indies are eighth on 74, Sri Lanka seventh on 75 and Bangladesh sixth on 77. Australia lead on 126.

How is the Test rating worked out?

The ICC divides the points a team has scored by its match total and rounds to the nearest whole number. For Pakistan, 1,623 divided by 23 is 70.6, which rounds to 71.

Will beating Sri Lanka lift Pakistan above them?

We cannot say. The ICC does not give a simple forecast on its table, and the points depend on the opponent's rating. We only know the gap is 4.9 before the series.

Is the ICC ranking the same as the WTC table?

No. The ranking is a rating across many matches. The WTC table is points in the current cycle. Pakistan are ninth in one and last in the other.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 14 October 2026. Ratings, points and matches come from the ICC's men's Test team rankings page at icc-cricket.com, rank date 13 October 2026. The decimals and the gaps in the second section are our own division. The Test dates and venues come from our earlier report and should be confirmed on the PCB's fixtures page, which blocked our request when we tried to open it. The ICC explains its method on its About the rankings page.
