Check Where Pakistan's Test Players Stand in the ICC Rankings Before the Sri Lanka Tests
See where Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Noman Ali and every Pakistani Test player stand in the ICC rankings before the 9 November Sri Lanka Test in Rawalpindi.

Short answer: Babar Azam is Pakistan's best ranked Test batter at 13th with 684 rating points. Noman Ali is the best ranked Test bowler at 10th with 777. Both figures come from the ICC player rankings dated 15 September 2026, the last update before the Sri Lanka Tests in November.
Pakistan's two Tests against Sri Lanka start on 9 November in Rawalpindi. The board has not named the squad yet. Until it does, the ICC table is the best guide to who is in form on paper.
We opened the ICC's men's Test batting and bowling rankings on 12 October 2026 and read all 100 rows of each. Below are the Pakistani names, their positions and their ratings.
Babar Azam leads Pakistan's Test batters at 13th on 684
Babar Azam is 13th in the ICC Test batting table on 684 points. Saud Shakeel is 16th on 674. Mohammad Rizwan is 34th on 593 and Shan Masood is 37th on 586.
Harry Brook leads the table on 861, ahead of Steve Smith on 840 and Joe Root on 816. Babar is 177 points behind Brook. That is a long way, but Babar is the highest Pakistani by a clear margin, and Saud Shakeel is only ten points behind him.
| Batter | Position | Rating |
|---|---|---|
| Babar Azam | 13th | 684 |
| Saud Shakeel | 16th | 674 |
| Mohammad Rizwan | 34th | 593 |
| Shan Masood | 37th | 586 |
| Salman Ali Agha | 44th | 559 |
| Abdullah Shafique | 46th | 556 |
| Imam-ul-Haq | 58th | 506 |

Azan Awais, the young opener, shares 95th place on 358. A tie is shown with an equals sign on the ICC page, so Azan sits level with the player above him.
Noman Ali is Pakistan's top Test bowler at 10th on 777
Noman Ali is 10th in the ICC Test bowling table on 777 points. Mohammad Abbas is 16th on 713. Shaheen Afridi is 31st on 593 and Sajid Khan is 32nd on 587.
Australia's Mitchell Starc leads the bowlers on 872, with Matt Henry on 861. Noman is the only Pakistani in the top ten. A left arm spinner at home on Rawalpindi and Lahore pitches is exactly what the table suggests Pakistan will lean on. We have no squad to confirm it, so treat that as a reading of the numbers and not a team announcement.
| Bowler | Position | Rating |
|---|---|---|
| Noman Ali | 10th | 777 |
| Mohammad Abbas | 16th | 713 |
| Shaheen Afridi | 31st | 593 |
| Sajid Khan | 32nd | 587 |
| Hasan Ali | 44th | 481 |
| Khurram Shahzad | 55th | 405 |

Further down, Mohammad Ali is 81st on 248 and Aamer Jamal is 83rd on 239. Asif Afridi shares 92nd place on 209.
Pakistan are ninth in the team table, four points behind Sri Lanka
The ICC Test team table dated 12 September 2026 has Pakistan ninth with 1,623 points from 23 matches, a rating of 71. Sri Lanka are seventh on 75, and West Indies eighth on 74. Zimbabwe are tenth on 17.
So Sri Lanka arrive four rating points above Pakistan. In the separate World Test Championship table, Pakistan are last, and our report on the World Test Championship 2025-27 points table explains the arithmetic. The team ranking and the championship table are two different lists, and the first one is a rating, not a percentage.
Our guide to reading Pakistan's ICC ranking shows how to tell them apart, and it explains the ODI table too.
The tables will change after the series, not before it
The ICC moves player ratings after matches are played. The Test tables carry a rank date of 15 September, because Pakistan's last Test was on the England tour. Nothing changes for Test players until the first Sri Lanka Test finishes, on or after 13 November.
That matters for anyone reading old screenshots. A player's rating falls and rises with every innings, and a big score against a strong attack moves the rating more than a score against a weak one. The ICC says the points are worked out by an algorithm with no human judgment. The first Test is from 9 to 13 November at Rawalpindi, and the full schedule of the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Tests has the venues and the match officials.
The one-day tri-series comes first. For the players who play both formats, the ODI tables are a separate list with a different set of ratings.
How to find any Pakistani player in the ICC table in four steps
The ICC site lists the top 100 in each table. You can find any Pakistani player in under a minute if you know where to look, and the page always shows the date of the last update at the top.
- Open icc-cricket.com and choose Rankings.
- Pick Player Rankings, then Men's, then Test and Batting or Bowling.
- Press "Load more" until all 100 rows show.
- Search the page for the player's surname and note the "Rank date".

A player who is not on the list is outside the top 100, or has not played enough Tests to qualify. The ICC does not publish a reason for each absence.
