You can order a cheque book from your bank app or internet banking at HBL and Bank Alfalah, or at the branch counter at any bank. The fee ranges from nothing to Rs 40 a leaf, depending on your bank and account type. UBL lists cheque books as free, HBL charges Rs 40 a leaf, and Bank AL Habib Rs 35.

We read the Schedule of Bank Charges for 1 July to 31 December 2026 from HBL, MCB, UBL, Meezan Bank, Bank AL Habib and Bank Alfalah on 7 October 2026. A leaf is one cheque. A normal book has 10 to 25 leaves, so a Rs 40 fee on 25 leaves is Rs 1,000.

Delivery time is not printed in any of these schedules. We say so rather than invent a number. Ask your branch when you apply.

Cheque book fee per leaf at each bank

Fees depend on your account. A basic current account usually pays per leaf, while premium, salary and some digital accounts get cheque books free. The table shows the standard rate in each schedule.

BankFee per leafWhen it is free
HBLRs 40Freedom account with Rs 40,000 average, Haryali and branchless accounts
Bank AL HabibRs 35Pensioner accounts
MCBRs 20 current, Rs 32 savingsMCB One and other bundled accounts
Meezan BankRs 25 on a non-premium current accountSavings accounts, Premium and Meezan Plus

HBL prints its schedule as exclusive of FED and sales tax, so expect a small tax on top of its Rs 40. Delivery by registered mail or courier at HBL is a flat Rs 185.

Bank Alfalah's schedule gives a free first 25-leaf book and then Rs 22.5 a leaf for the account types in that table. The general rate sits in a section of the schedule we could not read cleanly, so we do not quote it. Ask your branch.

How to order a cheque book from the bank app

The fastest route is the bank app, if your bank offers it. HBL's schedule lists cheque book requests as a feature of the HBL Mobile app, free to use. Bank Alfalah's schedule lists ordering a cheque book through Alfa or internet banking, and says the cheque book charges are the same as at the branch.

  1. Log in to your bank's app or internet banking.
  2. Open the services or account menu and look for cheque book request.
  3. Choose the account, the number of leaves and the delivery address or branch.
  4. Confirm the fee shown and approve with your PIN or OTP, the one-time code sent to your phone.
  5. Collect it from the branch, or wait for courier delivery, and check the leaf numbers.
Steps for ordering a cheque book through a Pakistani bank app

Menus differ by bank and app version. If you cannot find the option, your bank may not offer cheque book requests in the app yet. Use the branch route.

How to order at the branch or by phone

At the branch, ask the counter for a cheque book requisition slip, fill in the account number, sign it and hand it in with your CNIC if asked. Some banks also take a request through the call centre. We did not test the call centre of any bank, so check yours.

Bring the old cheque book stub if you are asking for a new one because the last one is finished. If the old book was lost, tell the bank, and ask it to stop payment on the unused leaves. Bank AL Habib charges Rs 750 per instruction for a stop payment, and HBL charges Rs 1,000 per instruction.

Fees to know about after the book arrives

The book itself is cheap. The mistakes are expensive. A cheque that bounces for lack of funds costs Rs 1,000 at several banks, and the legal trouble is far worse. Bank AL Habib charges Rs 1,000 or the account balance if it is less. Read our guide on what to do when a cheque bounces in Pakistan before you hand a cheque to anyone.

Meezan Bank also charges Rs 7 per leaf as a safekeeping fee on some account types if you do not collect the book within 60 days. So collect it. A book left at the branch costs money.

Cheques are also tied to your credit record when they bounce. Our explainer on the credit report your bank sees shows how that history follows you.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Checked on 7 October 2026. Schedule of Bank Charges for 1 July to 31 December 2026 from HBL, MCB, UBL, Meezan Bank, Bank AL Habib and Bank Alfalah. We did not place a cheque book order at any bank, so the app steps follow what the schedules list, and your app's menu may differ.
