How to Check if You Are Registered With EOBI

EOBI registration is your employer's job, not yours. See how to check your record by CNIC, what to do if contributions are missing, and who to call for help.

Check your EOBI registration by CNIC on eobi.gov.pk, under the Insured Person or Employee Details query, while you are still working, not when you retire. Registration is your employer's job, so the check is really asking one question: did the money already cut from your wages actually reach EOBI.

Most workers only think about EOBI once, on the day they turn sixty and want the pension. By then a missing year of contributions is far harder to fix than it is now, while you are still employed and can still point to a payslip. EOBI registration check is the habit that catches a gap early, and it costs nothing but a few minutes.

We read EOBI's own homepage and its Individual Information page directly, both over plain HTTP after the secure address failed to connect from this session, which matches a reachability issue already recorded elsewhere on this site. This guide covers the registration and contribution check only. For the pension amount, the retirement age and how to claim once you qualify, we point you to the two guides that already cover that ground in depth.

EOBI registration is something your employer does, never you

A worker cannot sign up for EOBI directly. The institution's own Employer Registration Form, PR-01, is filed by the business, which then deducts and pays contributions against each employee it registers.

That single fact explains most of the confusion. A worker searching for "how to register for EOBI" is usually really asking whether their employer has already done it, and whether the deduction on their payslip is actually landing anywhere.

Check your record by CNIC on EOBI's own site

EOBI runs a query page called Insured Person and Employee Details, where a worker enters a 13 digit CNIC without dashes to see what is recorded against their name. We read this page directly on eobi.gov.pk's Individual Information section.

  1. Find your CNIC and write it out as 13 digits with no dashes.
  2. Go to eobi.gov.pk and look for the Insured Person or Employee Details query.
  3. If the secure address will not load, try the plain http version of the same site, which answered for us when https did not.
  4. Search by your CNIC and see whether an employer and a contribution record appear against your name.
  5. If nothing comes up, or the record looks wrong, call the helpdesk rather than assuming the website is simply broken.
Five steps to check your EOBI registration status online

EOBI's query timings run Monday to Friday, 9 am to 7 pm, with a helpdesk on 021-34328037 during office hours, 8 am to 4 pm. Outside those hours the online query may still work, but a human to call will not be available.

A registration check is not the same as a pension claim check

EOBI's own Individual Information page splits this into two separate queries: one for Insured Person or Employee Details, and a different one for Pension Claim Status. They answer different questions for different people.

QueryWho it is forWhat it tells you
Insured Person or Employee DetailsA worker still employedWhether you are registered and contributions are recorded
Pension Claim StatusA retired worker who has appliedWhere a filed pension claim stands

If you are decades from retirement, the registration check is the one that matters to you right now. The pension claim check only becomes relevant once you have actually applied, which we cover in full in the guide to how to check and claim your EOBI pension.

A missing contribution year is a problem to raise while you still work there

If your payslip shows a one per cent EOBI deduction but the online record shows no employer or a gap in the years, that mismatch is worth raising immediately, not filing away for later.

Keep your own payslips and any EOBI card as evidence. An employer who has stopped paying contributions, or never started, is far easier to confront while you still work there and have proof in hand than years later, when you have moved on and the paper trail has gone with you.

Warning that a payslip deduction with no matching EOBI record should be raised with your employer now

Changing jobs does not reset your contribution record

A worker moving between registered employers keeps the years already paid in. EOBI counts total insurable employment, not time with one employer, which is why fifteen years of combined contributions across different jobs still qualifies for the pension.

That matters most for someone who has worked for several small employers over a career. Each move is a fresh reason to re-check your registration, since a new employer has to register you again under their own account, and a lapse between jobs is one of the easiest ways a year quietly goes missing.

What a clean check actually buys you later

A worker who checks their registration every year or two and fixes gaps as they appear arrives at retirement with a record that matches what they actually paid in. That is worth more than it sounds, because EOBI pays a minimum pension of Rs 11,500 a month only to a complete, contested free record, and backdates a late claim by just six months, both of which we set out in detail in the guide to the EOBI pension most workers never claim.

Checking now is the cheap half of that story. Discovering a gap at sixty, when the only fix is proving years of history to a government record that disagrees with you, is the expensive half.

Common questions

How do I check if I am registered with EOBI?

Search the Insured Person or Employee Details query on eobi.gov.pk using your 13 digit CNIC without dashes. Use the plain http address if the secure one does not load.

Can I register myself with EOBI?

No. Registration is done by your employer through EOBI's own Employer Registration Form, and contributions are deducted and paid on your behalf.

What if my EOBI deduction does not show up online?

Raise it with your employer while you still work there and keep payslips as proof. A gap is far harder to prove once you have left the job.

Do I lose my EOBI contribution years if I change jobs?

No. EOBI counts total insurable employment across every registered employer, so years already paid in carry forward, but each new employer still has to register you again.

Is the EOBI registration check the same as checking my pension claim?

No. EOBI treats them as two separate queries, one for a working employee's registration record and another for a retired worker tracking a pension claim already filed.

Who do I call if the EOBI website will not show my record?

EOBI's helpdesk on 021-34328037, available during office hours, 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
