The FBR helpline is +92 51 111 772 772, open Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm. Women have a separate line, +92 51 9107025, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays, and you can also write to helpline@fbr.gov.pk.

Those hours matter this week. The deadline for 2026 income tax returns is Saturday 31 October 2026, and the hours FBR lists for its helpline do not include Saturday. Below is every channel FBR publishes: phone, email, the online query form, the complaint portal, the overseas desks and the phone number of each regional tax office. We read them on FBR's website on 28 October 2026.

FBR's helpline is 051 111 772 772, Monday to Friday

FBR's helpline number is +92 51 111 772 772. FBR lists its hours as Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 11:30 pm. It says the helpline answers 1,000 to 1,500 calls and about 500 emails a day, and that 80% of queries are resolved on the spot.

From inside Pakistan, dial 051 111 772 772. From abroad, dial +92 51 111 772 772. We did not call the line ourselves, so we cannot tell you how long the wait is near the deadline.

Women have their own line, 051 9107025

FBR runs an exclusive telephone line for women at +92 51 9107025, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. It is a shorter day than the main line, so a woman calling after 4:00 pm should use the main helpline or email instead.

FBR does not say on the page whether the women's line handles a different set of questions. Treat it as the same service with a separate queue.

Send a written query online and track it

The Contact FBR Online form lets you submit a written query and later check its status. It asks for a case title, your name, CNIC, passport, NTN or STRN, a company name if any, a mobile number and an email address, then the tax your query relates to and a short description.

You choose a category such as income tax, sales tax, customs or federal excise, then a sub-category such as an accounting error or a correction of name. You can attach documents. A written query leaves a record, which helps if the problem is still open after the deadline.

For a formal complaint, the FBR home page links "File Your Complaint" to its complaint management system at ecrm.fbr.gov.pk. If FBR itself mishandles your case, the next step is the Federal Tax Ombudsman complaint.

Have these ready before you call

In the week of a deadline, many problems are about IRIS: a forgotten password, a wrong mobile number or a return that will not submit. The agent will need to find your record first, so have the details below in front of you. It saves a second call.

  1. Your CNIC number, or NTN for a company or AOP.
  2. The mobile number and email address registered on IRIS.
  3. A screenshot or the exact wording of the error message.
  4. The tax year your query is about, which is tax year 2026 for the return due on 31 October.
  5. Any acknowledgement, PSID or challan number linked to the problem.

If the trouble is signing in, the IRIS 2.0 login fixes solve the common cases without a call. If your registered mobile has changed, updating your mobile on IRIS uses Form 181.

Every regional tax office and its phone number

For problems the helpline cannot fix, go to the Regional Tax Office (RTO) that holds your file. FBR lists each chief commissioner's office with its address and phone. The main RTOs are below; large companies and big taxpayers deal with separate Large and Corporate Taxpayers' Offices.

These are the chief commissioners' office lines, not a public counter. A call there is best for a case already in progress, such as a notice or an order.

Overseas Pakistanis have special desks in four cities

FBR runs special facilitation desks for overseas Pakistanis at the RTOs in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi (RTO-I). Each desk lists two officers with mobile numbers and email addresses on FBR's page. These are the mobile numbers FBR publishes.

FBR overseas Pakistani facilitation desks in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi
  • RTO Islamabad: 0344-5151517 and 0333-5996999.
  • RTO Lahore: 0333-4030868 and 0334-9946798.
  • RTO Peshawar: 0333-9022622 and 0344-9291104.
  • RTO-I Karachi: 0333-4563956 and 0345-3060745.

Use these only for overseas tax questions, such as filing a return as an overseas Pakistani or the filer rate on property. Never give your IRIS password to a caller or pay tax into a personal account; income tax is paid against a PSID you generate yourself.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read FBR's Helpline page, its field office contact list, the Contact FBR Online page and the overseas facilitation desk page on 28 October 2026. We did not call any number, so waiting times and whether the helpline opens on the 31 October deadline day are not confirmed.
