The Federal Employees Benevolent and Group Insurance Funds (FEB&GIF) pay a Rs 50,000 marriage grant for one child, educational stipends of Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 a year for up to two children, and a farewell grant of one month's pay on retirement after 20 years' service. These go to serving, retired and deceased federal employees' families, gazetted or not. Below is every rate, who qualifies, which form to use and where to send it.

Most federal employees know the fund only for its death benefits. But a monthly deduction from every federal salary also buys grants for living employees and their children, and many families never claim them. We read FEB&GIF's benefits page, scheme pages, forms list, FAQs and contact page on 31 October 2026.

Five FEB&GIF grants are for living employees and their children

FEB&GIF says it covers more than 649,000 federal employees, plus staff of autonomous bodies the 1969 Act has been extended to. Alongside the death and invalidity benefits, it pays five grants that do not need a death in the family.

The death benefits, including the sum assured of Rs 350,000 to Rs 1,000,000, burial charges of Rs 10,000 and the monthly benevolent grant of Rs 4,000 to Rs 10,100, are a separate claim. They are covered in group insurance for a deceased federal employee.

The marriage grant is Rs 50,000 for one child, son or daughter

FEB&GIF pays Rs 50,000 on the marriage of one child of a serving, retired or deceased employee, whatever the child's gender. Before 2011, it was paid only for the child of a deceased or invalid employee.

The fund's own pages give two dates for that change. The benefits page says it applies to marriages on or after 11 April 2011, and the marriage grant page says 21 April 2011. Only weddings near that date are affected. Use the "Application form for Payment of Marriage Grant" from the downloads page, which covers in service, retired and deceased employees.

Educational stipends pay up to Rs 40,000 a year for two children

The stipend is paid each year for post matric study up to MPhil or MS, in any subject, at a public or private institution. PhD is excluded. Only two children of one employee are paid in a financial year.

LevelStipend a yearMarks needed in last exam
IntermediateRs 20,00060% for BS 1 to 10 staff, 70% for BS 11 to 22
GraduationRs 24,00070%
Masters or post graduationRs 30,00070%
Professional studiesRs 40,00070%

Professional studies means the same subjects as the fee reimbursement scheme below. So a child of a BS-7 employee in intermediate needs 60 per cent in matric. The same child in a BS degree needs 70 per cent in the last exam.

Semester fees are refunded in six professional fields

FEB&GIF reimburses the semester or annual fee for children in public sector universities, colleges and institutes. The fields are medicine (MBBS and BDS), engineering programmes accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council, IT, business studies, D-Pharmacy and architecture.

IT here means computer science, software engineering, information technology, bioinformatics and information systems. Business means business administration and accounting and finance. Admission must be on merit, and the student must pass each semester or year without failing a subject.

Send the original bank paid fee challan. If the fee was paid online straight to the university, the fund asks for a university verified student ledger showing the deposit, plus a bank manager's verified statement showing the transfer.

This scheme repays fees for students who stay and pass. Getting money back after leaving a university is a different matter, covered by the HEC fee refund policy.

The farewell grant is one month's pay after 20 years' service

An employee who retires on pension after twenty years' service gets a farewell grant equal to one month's pay. "Pay" means the emoluments that count for pension. This rule applies to retirements after 1 September 2012; before that, 25 years were needed.

The farewell grant form also covers death after retirement, superannuation and voluntary retirement. It is a separate claim from the pension and commutation, which go through the accounts office. Your new pension after the 2026 rise is worked out in the federal pension increase for 2026.

Steps to apply for an FEB&GIF marriage grant, stipend or farewell grant
