How to Apply for a Hong Kong Visa From Pakistan: HK$330 Fee and a 4 Week Wait
Pakistani passport holders need a Hong Kong visa, even for airport transit. The entry permit costs HK$330 and takes about four weeks. See how to apply online.

Pakistani passport holders need a visa for Hong Kong, even to change planes without leaving the airport. A single-entry permit costs HK$330, a one-year multiple-entry permit HK$670 and a three-year one HK$1,350. Hong Kong's Immigration Department says it normally takes four weeks to decide, so apply at least a month before you fly.
The timing is why this matters now. Pakistan's squad for the Hong Kong Sixes leaves on 28 October 2026, and the tournament runs from 30 October to 1 November. A fan who starts today will probably not get a visa in time for those dates. A team travels on arrangements made by its board, and an ordinary traveller does not.

Pakistani citizens must hold a Hong Kong visa for every kind of trip
Hong Kong's list of visa rules marks Pakistan as "Visa Required". Its remark says all nationals on the list, except holders of diplomatic and official passports, must hold a valid visa for whatever purpose, including transit where you stay on the airside.
Diplomatic and official passport holders may visit visa free for up to 30 days. An ordinary Pakistani passport does not get that. If you are flying through Hong Kong to another country, you still need the visa, so check this before booking a cheap connecting flight.
The Immigration Department says the list was updated in August 2026. Rules can change, so check the date on the page when you apply.

The fee is paid after approval, not when you apply
Submitting the online application is free. When the application is approved, the notification includes a link to pay the issuance fee. You can pay by credit card, phone payment, the Faster Payment System or mainland e-wallets, through that link, the GovHK website or the ImmD Mobile Application.
That order is a useful safety check. If someone asks you for the visa fee before the department has approved your case, you are not dealing with the department. Do not pay.
The department does not issue a sticker any more. You get an e-Visa, which you download or print yourself after payment. Keep it on your phone and as a printout.
Apply online, or through a Chinese mission or a sponsor
The department lets you fill in the form, upload your photo and documents, and track your application online. You can use the GovHK website, the ImmD website or the mobile app. A Hong Kong sponsor, either a company or an individual aged 18 or over who is a bona fide Hong Kong resident and knows you, helps the case but is not compulsory for a visit.
You may also apply through the nearest Chinese diplomatic or consular mission. The department notes that some missions use the Chinese Visa Application Service Center, so ask your mission which route it uses. We have not confirmed which route the missions in Pakistan use.
The visa for Hong Kong is separate from a visa for mainland China. For the mainland, see the guide to the China visa from Pakistan.

Documents the department asks for
The department lists a short set of papers. Photocopies are enough for most of them.
- The completed application form, with a recent photograph.
- A copy of the data page of your passport.
- Proof of money: bank statements, savings passbooks or tax receipts, plus proof of employment such as a leave letter or salary slips.
- Proof of transport, such as a flight itinerary.
- Proof of the trip. For leisure, a tour receipt or itinerary. For business, a letter from your employer or an invitation from a Hong Kong company. For a family visit, proof of your relationship with the sponsor.
The department will not start processing until every required document has arrived. It asks applicants not to chase for progress unless it is really needed, because that can slow the case down.

What the visa does not let you do
A visitor cannot take a job, paid or unpaid, start or join a business, or study. The department also says visitors must have enough money for their stay and, unless they are travelling on to mainland China or Macao, a return or onward ticket.
Approval is discretionary. The department can refuse a case even when you meet all the listed tests. Other Asian visas have their own steps, for example the guide to the Singapore visa from Pakistan.
If you follow cricket, the date that triggered this guide is in the report on the Pakistan squad for the Hong Kong Sixes.
