National Highway Toll Rates in Pakistan: Rs 100 for Cars, Rs 250 at Kohat Tunnel
NHA lists Rs 100 for cars on national highways and Rs 250 at the Kohat Tunnel. See rates for wagons, buses and trucks and what to do if you are overcharged.

Short answer: On NHA's highway toll table, a car pays Rs 100 on a national highway, a wagon Rs 200, a bus Rs 300 and a 2 axle truck Rs 400. Two stretches cost more: the Kohat Tunnel on N-55 charges a car Rs 250, and the N-75 section listed as IMDCW charges Rs 300. These are not the motorway rates, which are higher.
You leave Rawalpindi at 6 in the morning for Kohat. You have Rs 500 in your pocket and your M-Tag is for the motorway, not for the tunnel road. At the plaza the booth asks for Rs 250. It is a small bill, but it is a surprise, and people who plan a trip like to know the numbers.
We read the National Highway Authority (NHA) highway toll rates page on 13 October 2026. The table below is copied from it, in rupees.
The NHA table lists one general rate and four named stretches
NHA's page has a column headed National Highways, and four more for named places: Kohat Tunnel (N-55), IMDCW (N-75), Mianwali and Khansar (N-135), and Fatehpur and Chowk Sarwar. The page does not say whether the figures are charged once per plaza crossing. Toll plazas charge per crossing, so we read them that way. Confirm with the plaza sign.
| Vehicle | National highways | Kohat Tunnel (N-55) | IMDCW (N-75) | Mianwali and Khansar (N-135) | Fatehpur and Chowk Sarwar |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Car | Rs 100 | Rs 250 | Rs 300 | Rs 100 | Rs 100 |
| Wagon | Rs 200 | Rs 650 | Rs 300 | Rs 200 | Rs 200 |
| Bus | Rs 300 | Rs 750 | Rs 450 | Rs 300 | Rs 300 |
| 2 axle truck | Rs 400 | Rs 750 | Rs 500 | Rs 300 | Rs 400 |
| 3 axle truck | Rs 400 | Rs 750 | Rs 500 | Rs 400 | Rs 400 |
| Articulated truck | Rs 700 | Rs 1,150 | Rs 1,000 | Rs 700 | Rs 700 |

We kept the abbreviation IMDCW exactly as NHA prints it, because the page does not spell it out. The page for N-75 gives its own rate, and it is the highest car rate on the table.
Cars pay Rs 100 on most highway plazas
For a car, the general national highway rate is Rs 100, and the Mianwali and Khansar stretch and the Fatehpur and Chowk Sarwar plazas charge the same. The Kohat Tunnel is two and a half times that, at Rs 250. The N-75 section is three times, at Rs 300.
For a wagon, the Kohat Tunnel is the standout. A wagon pays Rs 650 there, against Rs 200 on a standard highway. NHA's table does not define the word wagon, so check the vehicle class on the plaza sign.

Trucks pay by axle and the gap is small below 4 axles
A 2 axle truck pays Rs 400 on a national highway, and a 3 axle truck pays the same Rs 400. The difference shows only on the Mianwali and Khansar stretch, at Rs 300 and Rs 400, and at the IMDCW section, where both pay Rs 500. An articulated truck, the long trailer type, pays Rs 700 on a national highway and Rs 1,150 at the Kohat Tunnel.
Transporters should note the Kohat Tunnel row. At Rs 750 for any bus or truck up to 3 axles, it is the same charge for a bus and for a laden truck.
Motorways are a different table
These rates are for highways. Motorways have their own schedule, which NHA revised on 10 July 2026, according to a notice on its homepage. For those, see the guide to motorway toll rates in Pakistan.
We cannot say if this highway table is part of that 10 July revision. The page we read carries no date. Treat it as the current NHA listing as of 13 October 2026, and check the sign at the plaza.
The 50 percent extra for having no M-Tag on motorways is a motorway matter. Its status is explained in the page on the extra motorway toll without an M-Tag. The helpline for tag problems is in the guide to the M-Tag helpline 1313.
If you are charged more than the table
Ask for a receipt, note the plaza, the time and your vehicle class, and photograph the rate board. Then complain to NHA, as set out in the guide to complaining to NHA about a toll plaza.
- Read the rate board before you pay.
- Ask for the receipt and keep it.
- Photograph the board and the booth number.
- Write down the time and your vehicle class.
- Send the complaint to the nearest NHA regional office.

Common questions
How much is the toll for a car on a national highway?
Rs 100 on NHA's table. The Kohat Tunnel on N-55 is Rs 250, and the N-75 section listed as IMDCW is Rs 300.
How much does a bus pay at the Kohat Tunnel?
Rs 750 on NHA's table, the same as a 2 axle or 3 axle truck there.

No. Motorways have a separate, higher schedule. NHA says revised toll rates for national highways and motorways took effect on 10 July 2026.

We could not confirm from NHA's table. It lists cash figures only. Ask at the plaza, and see the M-Tag helpline guide.
What does IMDCW mean?
NHA does not spell it out on the page. We use the abbreviation as printed and cannot confirm its meaning.
When was this table last changed?
The page shows no date. We could not confirm if it is part of the 10 July 2026 revision.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked on 13 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read NHA's highways toll rates page and the NHA homepage notice about revised toll rates from 10 July 2026. The PDF with the revised schedule is a scanned image, and we could not read its figures. We did not drive any of these routes.
