National U19 Cup vs Championship 2026-27 in Pakistan: Format, Dates and How to Check Scores

The PCB runs two U19 tournaments: the three-day Championship and the 50-over Cup. See how they differ, their dates, and how to check scores on the match centre.

Two red leather cricket balls side by side on a dark wooden table, for the two PCB under-19 tournaments

Short answer: The PCB runs two separate under-19 men's tournaments this season. The National U19 Championship is a three-day red-ball event from 15 September to 6 November. The National U19 Cup is a 50-over one-day event from 19 September to 24 October. They have different tables, so check the right one.

The names are close and the teams overlap, so a score or a table that belongs to one often gets quoted as the other. Both are listed together on the PCB's men's domestic series page. We opened that page and each tournament's page on the PCB match centre on 11 October 2026 to put the two side by side.

The Championship is three days and the Cup is one day

The Championship uses a red ball and each match lasts up to three days. The Cup uses 50 overs a side and every match finishes in a day. A batter who makes 150 in one format is judged very differently in the other, so selectors read the two tables separately.

National U19 Cup compared with the National U19 Championship 2026-27: one-day 50 overs against three-day red ball

We have reported the Championship's round 4 in our National U19 Championship round 4 results, and the Cup's Saturday results in our National U19 Cup group tables.

The same regions play both tournaments

Both tournaments use the same regional teams: Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, AJK, Bahawalpur, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Multan, FATA, Quetta, Larkana, Hyderabad and D.M. Jamali. Four regions, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Sialkot, field two sides each.

The PCB's Championship reports call those pairs Whites and Blues, for example Peshawar Whites and Lahore Blues. The match centre shortens them to (W) and (B). The Cup pages use the same short labels, so Karachi Region (B) is the Karachi Blues side.

The sides are not always the same players, because the one-day squads and the three-day squads are picked separately. We did not compare squad lists, so we do not say how much they overlap.

The Cup is built on weekly group rounds

The Cup match centre says 7 rounds. Four groups of five teams play 10 matches each if every team meets every other once, and each round has eight matches because one team in every group rests. That is five league rounds of eight matches, which would leave two more rounds.

The PCB has not said what those last two rounds are, and we found no fixture list for them. It is a reasonable guess that they are knockout rounds, but it is only a guess, so do not treat it as a fixture.

The match list we read shows play on Saturdays 26 September, 3 October and 10 October, with 8 matches on each day. The PCB series page ends the Cup on 24 October and the match centre says 25 October, which are one day apart, so we give both.

How to check a Cup or Championship score

Use the match centre for both tournaments, because the PCB's own news reports cover the Championship but we found none for the Cup. Make sure the page title says Cup or Championship before you read the table.

  1. Open matchcentre.pcb.com.pk and choose Competitions.
  2. Pick National U-19 Cup 2026-27 or National U-19 Championship 2026-27.
  3. Open the Point Table tab and press Load More to see all four groups.
  4. Open the Matches tab and choose Recent for results or Upcoming for fixtures.
  5. Open a match to see the scorecard, and use the Leaderboard tab for runs and wickets.

If the table shows two points per win and a net run rate column, you are on the Cup. Our PCB match centre guide explains each tab in more detail.

Know what the match centre does not tell you

The match centre prints no rulebook for either event. For the Cup it shows points and net run rate but does not say how ties are ranked. Our Championship article noted that its points system was not explained either.

Five steps to check a National U19 Cup or Championship score on the PCB match centre

The match centre also shows end dates that differ from the PCB series page: 25 October against 24 October for the Cup, and, when we first read the Championship page on 10 October, 22 October against 6 November. When two pages disagree, we report both and say which is which. The wider age-group calendar of trials and series is in our guide to the PCB U15, U17 and U19 trials dates and venues.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read the PCB men's domestic series page on pcb.com.pk and the National U-19 Cup 2026-27 pages on the PCB match centre (matchcentre.pcb.com.pk) on 11 October 2026. The Championship facts come from the PCB's own round 4 report that we used in our earlier article. Match centre data changes as scorers upload it.
