A Patron's XI plays Sri Lanka from 4 to 6 November
Pakistan's Test team does not play the warm-up as a side. Instead, a 13-player PCB Patron's XI, captained by Saad Baig, plays Sri Lanka at the Islamabad Club from 4 to 6 November. Six Test squad members are in it.
The six are Abdullah Fazal, Ali Usman, Azan Awais, Mohammad Suleman, Mohammad Taha and Sameer Minhas. Five fast bowlers make up the attack: Mohammad Salman, Shoaib Akhtar Jnr, Ali Shabbir, Saqib Khan and Ubaid Shah. Mohammad Tayyab Arif completes the 13.
The warm-up matters for those five pacers. The PCB said it will add two fast bowlers from the Patron's XI to the Test squad after the match ends on 6 November. That would take the squad to 16.
Babar Azam leads a 14-player Test squad with three new caps
Pakistan named an initial 14-player Test squad on 24 October with Babar Azam as captain. The uncapped players are batters Mohammad Taha, Sameer Minhas and Mohammad Suleman. Two more fast bowlers join after the warm-up.
| Pakistan Test squad | Note |
|---|---|
| Babar Azam | Captain |
| Abdullah Fazal, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, Razaullah, Saud Shakeel | Kept their places |
| Mohammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Baig | Wicketkeepers |
| Ali Usman | Left-arm spinner |
| Salman Ali Agha | Batter |
| Mohammad Taha, Sameer Minhas, Mohammad Suleman | Uncapped batters |
Three tri-series players move straight into the Test group: Saad Baig, who made 74 in the final, Arafat Minhas, who made 61 off 31 in the final, and Salman Ali Agha, who made 107 in the series opener. Taha's 730 runs led the President's Trophy Grade-I this season. The full list with each new player's record is in our report on the Pakistan Test squad vs Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka's 15-player Test squad is led by Kusal Mendis
Sri Lanka Cricket named 15 players on 13 October, with Kusal Mendis as Test captain. Pathum Nissanka was to travel only if declared medically fit. Kamindu Mendis, who made 131 in the ODI final, is in the Test squad too.
The full Sri Lanka squad is Pathum Nissanka, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis, Sonal Dinusha, Kusal Mendis (captain), Dhananjaya de Silva, Anjala Bandara, Keshara Nuwantha, Prabath Jayasuriya, Milan Rathnayaka, Lahiru Kumara, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka and Eshan Malinga.
Madushanka took 5 for 34 against Pakistan on 27 October and removed Maaz Sadaqat and Babar Azam early in the final. Sonal Dinusha is Sri Lanka's leading run-scorer in this World Test Championship cycle with 606 runs, and Asitha Fernando the leading wicket-taker with 25, according to the ICC.
