Pakistan and Oman have discussed more jobs, skills training and labour mobility for young Pakistani workers, Radio Pakistan reported on 29 September 2026. The talks were held in Muscat. No new visa quota, job count or signed agreement was announced.

Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme, met Khalid bin Salim Al Ghammari, Undersecretary at Oman's Ministry of Labour. Radio Pakistan describes the outcome as an "understanding" on expanding employment, skills development and labour mobility.

So this is a talk, not a job offer. If anyone calls you this week with an "Oman government job" linked to these talks, treat it with care. The checks that protect you are the same as they were last month.

Pakistan and Oman discussed expanding employment, skills development and labour mobility for Pakistani youth and skilled workers at a meeting in Muscat, Radio Pakistan reported. The meeting was between the Prime Minister's Youth Programme chairman and a senior official of Oman's labour ministry.

Labour mobility means workers moving from one country to another for jobs. For Pakistan, it matters because the Gulf is a major market for its workers abroad, and Oman is one of those countries.

According to Radio Pakistan, Rana Mashhood hoped Oman would keep offering jobs to Pakistan's skilled and semi-skilled workers. Al Ghammari said the Omani government would keep working with Pakistan on labour mobility, skills and jobs for Pakistani workers, particularly youth.

No new jobs, quota or visa scheme has been announced

The official report does not mention a number of jobs, a visa quota, a new recruitment scheme or a signed memorandum. It describes a discussion and an understanding. That is useful as a direction, but there is nothing to apply for yet.

If a follow up agreement is signed, it should appear through official channels first. Until then, any job advert that claims to come "under the Pakistan Oman deal" is making a claim the government has not made.

Pakistan says it is mapping skills that other countries need

Rana Mashhood said Pakistan is mapping high demand skills in destination countries, so its training programmes match what foreign employers want, according to Radio Pakistan. In simple words, the plan is to train young people for jobs that actually exist abroad.

That is the most practical line in the report for a young job seeker. If you are choosing a course now, look at which trades Gulf employers keep asking for.

The report did not name the skills or the training programmes. We will not guess at them here.

Check any Oman job offer before you pay

A job abroad from Pakistan should come through a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter or through direct employment, and the contract must be registered with the Protectorate of Emigrants. That rule predates these talks and still applies.

Before you hand over money or your passport, follow these steps:

1. Ask the agency for its licence number, which looks like four digits, a slash and a city code, such as 0779/KAR.
2. Check that number's status on the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment licence list.
3. Ask to see the demand letter or job offer from the Omani employer.
4. Read the contract terms, including salary, hours and who pays for the ticket.
5. Get protected at the Protectorate of Emigrants office before you travel.

Protection is the step people skip. Under the Emigration Ordinance, 1979, a Pakistani going abroad on a work visa has to get protected, which means the job contract is countersigned by the Protectorate. The process is in getting emigrant protection before you work abroad.

What to watch for after the Muscat talks

Watch for three things. A signed memorandum between the two governments, an announcement of specific trades or numbers, and a training or placement programme linked to the Prime Minister's Youth Programme. Any of those would be real news for job seekers.

None of them had been announced when we checked. The ministry that deals with workers abroad, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, is where a formal deal would normally be published.
