Pakistan's under-15 football team finished the group stage of the FIFA U-15 World Cup in Baku with two draws and three defeats, for 2 points from 5 matches. They drew 1-1 with Jordan and 1-1 with Nigeria on Monday 26 October, after losing to Gambia, South Sudan and Cyprus.

That puts Pakistan sixth of six in Group AD on our count of FIFA's own results. Pakistan now move into the tournament's tier stage, which starts on Wednesday 28 October after a rest day. Below are all five results in Pakistan time, the group table, and how the rest of the week works.

Pakistan drew with Jordan and Nigeria on 26 October

Pakistan earned their two points on the last day of the group stage. They drew 1-1 with Jordan at 12:30 pm PKT and 1-1 with Nigeria at 7:15 pm PKT on Monday 26 October. Both draws came after a heavy 4-0 defeat to Cyprus the night before.

The Nigeria result is the one to notice. Nigeria finished third in the group with 7 points and did not lose a match. Holding them to a draw is Pakistan's best result of the week.

All five Pakistan group results in PKT

Pakistan scored 4 goals and conceded 11 in five group games, by our count. FIFA's match list gives the kick-off times in UTC, and we added five hours for Pakistan time. Baku is one hour behind Pakistan.

Cyprus and South Sudan top Group AD on 10 points

Cyprus and South Sudan both finished on 10 points, with Cyprus ahead on goal difference. Nigeria were third on 7, Gambia and Jordan had 5 each, and Pakistan finished sixth on 2. FIFA's data did not include a group table, so this one is our own count from its results.

We used 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. If FIFA uses a different tie-break for teams level on points, the order of Gambia and Jordan could differ, but Pakistan's place does not change.

The tier stage runs from 28 to 30 October

After a rest day on Tuesday 27 October, every team plays on in one of six tiers, A to F, from Wednesday 28 October. FIFA's fixture list has two rounds on 28 October, two on 29 October and the tier finals on Friday 30 October.

1. Wednesday 28 October: round of 32 from 10:00 am PKT, then round of 16 from 4:45 pm PKT.
2. Thursday 29 October: quarter-finals from 10:00 am PKT, then semi-finals from 4:45 pm PKT.
3. Friday 30 October: finals in every tier, most from 10:00 am PKT.

Each tier has the same number of games in every round, so on our reading teams that lose keep playing placement matches rather than going home. That fits the event's promise of at least nine games for every team. When we checked FIFA's list on 27 October, the tier slots still showed placeholders, so Pakistan's tier and opponents were not yet named.

What this result means for Pakistan football

Two points from five is a hard start, but this event is built for match experience more than medals. Teams keep playing after the group stage, and the tier stage is meant to put Pakistan against sides closer to their level. A tier final on 30 October is still possible.
