Prolific in Pakistan: Not Available, the 52 Country List, the Waitlist and What Overseas Pakistanis Can Do
Prolific is not open to people living in Pakistan. See its 52 country list, the waitlist, how overseas Pakistanis in the Gulf can join, and the PayPal payout.

Prolific does not accept participants living in Pakistan: Pakistan is not among the 52 countries on Prolific's own eligibility list, checked on 31 October 2026. You can join Prolific's waitlist from Pakistan, but it promises no access. If you live in one of the listed countries, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar or Bahrain, you can join, because Prolific checks where you live, not your passport.
Prolific is a paid research survey site that many Pakistani students and freelancers hear about from friends abroad. This page lists every country Prolific accepts, explains the waitlist, shows how Prolific pays and why a VPN or a borrowed address is a bad idea, and points to options that do work from Pakistan. We read Prolific's participant help articles on 31 October 2026.
Prolific accepts 52 countries, and Pakistan is not one of them
Prolific says it is open to participants in most OECD countries plus a few others. Its full list has 52 entries. Pakistan is missing, while India, Egypt, Indonesia and four Gulf states are included. You must also be over 18 with a verified account.
| Region | Countries on Prolific's list |
|---|---|
| Gulf and Middle East | Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Egypt |
| South and East Asia | India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong |
| Americas | United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile |
| Oceania and Africa | Australia, New Zealand, South Africa |
| Europe | United Kingdom and 30 other European countries |
The European countries are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, with the United Kingdom listed as well.
Oman and Kuwait are not on the list, which matters for the many Pakistanis who work there.

Overseas Pakistanis can join from a listed country
Prolific bases eligibility on where you currently live, not on your nationality. A Pakistani citizen living in Dubai, Riyadh, Doha or Manama can sign up with a local phone number and verify the account. The account must stay tied to that country of residence.
That has a catch when you come home. Prolific says you must be physically in your listed country of residence to cash out. Try it from Pakistan on holiday and you will likely see the error PEC-U-0001, and the cash out will not go through. Wait until you are back, or update your country if you have moved for good.
The phone number matters too. Prolific says your number usually has to match your country of residence, or at least come from an accepted country on the same continent. A Pakistani SIM fails that test, because Pakistan is not an accepted country, so use your Gulf number.
The waitlist is the only route from inside Pakistan
If your country is not supported, Prolific lets you join a waitlist. It says it cannot guarantee access but may contact you if a study needs your profile. Invited participants from unsupported countries must verify with a valid photo ID, ideally a passport.
- Open Prolific's participant sign-up page and enter your real country, Pakistan.
- Join the waitlist when Prolific says your country is not supported.
- Keep a valid passport ready, since other IDs may not pass its verification partner.
- Wait for an email invitation. Do not create a second account.
Invitations from unsupported countries are occasional, so do not plan income around them. Studies that look for specific groups, such as Urdu speakers, are the kind that might reach Pakistan, but Prolific gives no numbers.

A VPN or a foreign address puts the whole balance at risk
Prolific publishes VPN guidance and checks your location when you cash out. An account opened with a false country is likely to be held, and the money in it with it. Our advice is simple: do not fake a country to join.
The same goes for buying or renting an account from someone abroad. Prolific's identity checks compare documents to the account, and its cash outs go to a PayPal account in the account holder's name. If anything does not match, the balance stays where it is.
Prolific pays only through PayPal, from £6 or $6
Prolific pays participants through PayPal. You can cash out once your combined approved balance in pounds and dollars reaches £6 or $6. Money arrives in PayPal within 24 hours. That rules out Pakistan on its own, since PayPal does not offer accounts to residents here.
| Prolific payment rule | What it says |
|---|---|
| Payout method | PayPal only |
| Minimum cash out | £6 or $6 combined approved balance |
| How often | Once every 24 hours, reset at midnight UTC |
| New accounts | 72 hour wait between cash outs until your fourth |
| Approval of a study | Pending for up to 22 days |
| Arrival | Within 24 hours in PayPal |
The PayPal situation for Pakistanis is explained in PayPal in Pakistan. Prolific also runs better-paid AI tasks and Domain Expert studies, and it tells researchers to pay Domain Experts $30 to $100 an hour, but these are invitations to existing participants, so they do not change the country rule.

What works from Pakistan instead
For paid surveys and small online tasks that accept Pakistani residents, the checks we have already run are the place to start. Many apps promise dollars and never pay out to Pakistan, so look for a payout method that actually works here before you spend hours.
Our tests of earning apps in Pakistan cover the common names, and Swagbucks in Pakistan shows the redeem country problem that also affects many survey sites. For steady income, freelancing platforms that pay into Payoneer or a local wallet are a more reliable route.
Common questions
Is Prolific available in Pakistan?
No. Pakistan is not on Prolific's list of 52 supported countries. You can only join the waitlist.
Can a Pakistani living in the UAE use Prolific?
Yes. Prolific checks country of residence, not nationality, and the United Arab Emirates is on its list.
Can I cash out Prolific earnings while visiting Pakistan?
No. Prolific says you must be in your listed country of residence to cash out, or you will likely see the PEC-U-0001 error.
What is the minimum payout on Prolific?
£6 or $6 in combined approved balance, paid to PayPal.
Does Prolific pay through Payoneer or JazzCash?
No. Prolific's cash out articles name PayPal as the only payout method.
Is it safe to use a VPN to join Prolific from Pakistan?
No. Prolific checks location and identity, and an account with a false country risks being held with its balance.
How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 31 October 2026. We read Prolific's who can participate in studies article (updated 2 September 2026), its how do I cash out article (updated 6 August 2026), the cashing out from abroad article (29 July 2026), and the AI tasker and Domain Expert articles, all on participant-help.prolific.com on 31 October 2026. The VPN warning is our advice; we did not read the full text of Prolific's VPN guidance. We did not create a Prolific account.
