SECP Registers 5,241 New Companies in September 2026, Total Now 317,002
The SECP says 5,241 new companies were registered in September 2026, 99.9% online. See the split by company type, province and sector, and what owners do next.

Short answer: The SECP registered 5,241 new companies in September 2026, taking the total number of registered companies in Pakistan to 317,002. Of the new ones, 99.9 per cent were registered online. Punjab took 52.3 per cent of them, and information technology led all sectors with 920.
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) published the figures in a press release dated 9 October 2026. We read the release on the SECP's own website. The numbers below are the commission's, and we checked that each breakdown adds up to 5,241.
September saw 5,241 new companies, up from August
The SECP says 5,241 companies were incorporated in September 2026, and 99.9 per cent of them were registered online through its eZfile portal and integrated federal and provincial systems. The total register now stands at 317,002 companies.
The SECP's release for August 2026 was titled "SECP registers 4,761 new companies in August 2026", as listed on its press release page. That puts September 480 companies higher, a rise of about 10 per cent. We read the August title only, not the August release itself.
One small oddity: the release is dated 9 October, but its opening line is datelined "Islamabad, October 5". We use 9 October because that is the date the SECP gives for the release.
Private limited companies made up 57.5 per cent of new registrations
Private limited companies were the largest group at 3,013, followed by 2,058 single member companies. The SECP also registered 127 limited liability partnerships, 29 Section 42 not-for-profit companies and 14 other entities, which were public companies, trade organisations and foreign companies.
| Company type | New in September 2026 | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Private limited companies | 3,013 | 57.5% |
| Single member companies | 2,058 | 39.2% |
| Limited liability partnerships | 127 | 2.4% |
| Section 42 (not-for-profit) companies | 29 | 0.6% |
| Other entities (10 public, 2 trade organisations, 2 foreign) | 14 | 0.3% |

A single member company has one owner, so a person can run a limited company without a partner. A Section 42 company is a not-for-profit company, which cannot share its profit among its members.
Punjab took more than half, and Islamabad came second
Punjab recorded 2,740 new companies, or 52.3 per cent. Islamabad Capital Territory followed with 1,009, then Sindh with 790, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 428, Gilgit-Baltistan with 169 and Balochistan with 105.

Islamabad has a far smaller population than the provinces yet took 19.2 per cent of registrations. The release does not explain the split, so we do not guess at the reason.
Information technology led the sectors with 920 new companies
IT recorded the most new incorporations at 920, ahead of trading with 808 and services with 599. Construction had 339, food and beverages 239, tourism 222, real estate development 193, education 189, e-commerce 179 and mining and quarrying 127.

Other sectors together accounted for 1,426 incorporations. Add the ten sectors named above and the 1,426 others, and you get exactly 5,241.
Foreign investors and women owners were counted too
The SECP counted 167 foreign investors in September's new companies, and China accounted for 113 of them. Women made up 14 per cent of shareholders and directors, 11 per cent of ultimate beneficial owners and 8 per cent of chief executives.
The other foreign investors came from the United States (7), the United Kingdom (6), Hong Kong (5), Singapore (3) and Saudi Arabia (3). Eight more countries had two investors each, and investors from other countries numbered 14. Ten of the foreign investors were foreign body corporates, and the rest were individuals.
An ultimate beneficial owner, or UBO, is the real person who finally owns or controls a company. Companies must declare them to the SECP, and the Form 19 UBO filing steps explain how.
A new company owner has four jobs after registration
Registering is only the first step. A new company must keep its records straight with the SECP, report changes in directors, declare its owners and file its yearly return. Missing those steps is how a new company ends up in default.
- Register the company on the SECP's eZfile portal, using the steps for registering a private limited company.
- Report any director change within the time the law allows, as set out in the Form 29 director change steps.
- Declare the ultimate beneficial owners on Form 19, as linked above.
- File the yearly return, covered in the steps for filing a company annual return with the SECP.
