South Air in Pakistan: Routes, Booking, 7 kg Hand Baggage and Refund Fees

Short answer: South Air is a new Pakistani domestic airline that flies ATR 72 turboprop planes. You can book on its website, mobile app, call centre, airport ticket offices or through travel agents. Its call centre and WhatsApp number is 051 111 222 999. Hand baggage is 7 kg, checked bags depend on the fare (none, 20 kg or 30 kg in Economy), and cancelling more than 48 hours before the flight costs Rs 2,500.

We read every South Air policy page on 9 October 2026. Two of its own pages disagree on check-in time and on pregnancy rules, so we show both. Here is what the airline publishes about routes, fares, baggage, refunds and your rights.

South Air flies ATR planes to smaller cities

South Air says it was founded in 2025 to link Pakistan's smaller cities with the main hubs. It is backed by SOS Group, a company with interests in security, energy, shipping and aviation, according to the airline's own about page. Its FAQ says all its flights use the ATR 72, a twin propeller plane.

The ATR matters for what you can carry. Its overhead bins are small, so South Air strictly enforces the cabin bag limit and may move a large bag to the hold at the gate. Boarding also closes earlier than you might expect, because bags are loaded by hand.

The route map lists 13 airports, but check before you book

South Air's route map lists flights from 11 origin cities. It describes this as an "expanding network", so some routes may be planned rather than flying today. The map does not give days or times. Search the date you want on the booking page, or call the call centre, before you plan a trip around a route.

Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Turbat, Panjgur and Gwadar are cities with few other flights. If you fly the main trunk routes, like Karachi to Lahore, compare the larger airlines in the domestic baggage rules of five airlines.

Book online, by phone or at a counter

South Air's FAQ lists six ways to book: its website, its mobile app, authorised travel agents, online travel agencies, airport ticket offices and the call centre. A ticket is confirmed only once it is fully paid. If you book within 3 hours of departure, you must pay at once.

1. Choose the fare type. Economy fares come with no checked bag, 20 kg or 30 kg. Pick the one that matches your bags, because adding weight later costs more.
2. Enter names exactly as on the CNIC. Adults travel on a CNIC, Smart CNIC or passport. Children can travel on a B-Form.
3. Pay in full. The booking is not confirmed until payment goes through.
4. Save the e-ticket. It shows your baggage allowance, which the FAQ says is printed on the ticket coupon.
5. Reach the airport early. See the check-in section below, because South Air's two pages give different times.

One more thing. When we opened the homepage on 9 October 2026, it still showed a "Sales Opening Soon" message, even though the FAQ describes bookings as open. If the website will not sell you a seat, call 051 111 222 999.

Hand baggage is 7 kg and checked bags depend on the fare

South Air's baggage page sets a 7 kg limit for the cabin bag in Economy. The bag must not be bigger than 22 by 15 by 8 inches, a total of 45 inches. A compact laptop does not count towards the 7 kg.

The ATR's hold is small, so the FAQ warns that extra baggage depends on space and may be refused on a full flight. Pets are not carried at all. Sports kit and musical instruments go only as checked baggage, and South Air advises telling it in advance.

Cancelling costs Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000

South Air charges a fixed fee to cancel or change a domestic ticket. The closer you are to the flight, the more you pay. After 29 days from the flight date, the refund value is nil.

The FAQ says refunds reach the card or account you paid with in 7 to 14 working days. If you miss check-in, you are a no-show and may lose the ticket value under the fare rules.

Two South Air pages disagree on check-in and pregnancy

South Air's FAQ tells passengers to arrive at least 2 hours before departure, and says boarding closes 20 minutes before. Its terms and conditions say to report at least 4 hours before a domestic flight, and that check-in counters close 45 minutes before departure. We cannot tell which is current. The safe choice is to arrive early and treat 45 minutes as the hard cut-off.

The two pages also differ for pregnant passengers. The FAQ allows travel up to 28 weeks without a certificate and asks for medical clearance after that. The terms allow travel up to the 32nd week with a doctor's fitness letter from within two days of the flight, plus a signed indemnity bond. Call the airline before booking if you are pregnant.

Other rules from the terms: babies under 7 days old cannot fly, unaccompanied children aged 5 to 12 are accepted, blind passengers travel with an escort, and batteries are not allowed.

Your rights if a South Air flight is late or cancelled

South Air publishes the same passenger rights that apply to all domestic airlines in Pakistan. After a delay of 2 to 4 hours, depending on distance, it must offer refreshments or a meal, and a hotel at night where needed. If the delay passes 5 hours and you give up the trip, you get a full refund. If the flight is cancelled, you choose between another flight and a full refund.
