LPG Price Comparator
Sellers quote per cylinder. Cylinders come in different sizes. That combination is how a more expensive gas ends up looking cheaper, and it is the reason short filling works. Put two quotes in and compare them the only way that means anything, which is per kilogram.
Price per kilogram
- Seller A · 11.8 kg
- Rs 262.71
- Seller B · 6 kg
- Rs 275.00
The cheaper option saves Rs 12.29 a kilogram. On an 11.8 kg cylinder that is Rs 145 every refill, and the cylinder that looked cheaper per unit is not always the one that is.
For reference, the August 2026 notified rate worked out at about Rs 254.32 a kilogram, or Rs 3,000.92 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder. Local prices sit above that because distribution, transport and delivery are added after the notified rate.
Weigh the cylinder before you accept it. The empty weight is stamped on the cylinder itself, so the gas you are paying for is the total minus that figure. A cylinder sold as full but filled short is the most common way households overpay, and comparing per cylinder rather than per kilogram is what hides it.
The two habits that stop you overpaying
First, divide by the weight. A 6 kg cylinder at Rs 1,650 and an 11.8 kg cylinder at Rs 3,100 look like very different purchases until you work out that one is Rs 275 a kilogram and the other Rs 263. The bigger number is the cheaper gas.
Second, ask for the cylinder to be weighed in front of you. The tare weight is stamped on the cylinder, so the gas you are buying is the total minus that. A seller who will not weigh it has answered the question for you.
Frequently asked questions
Why compare LPG per kilogram instead of per cylinder?
Because cylinder sizes vary. A cheaper cylinder that holds less gas is not cheaper. Dividing the price by the weight is the only way to compare two quotes honestly.
How do I know my cylinder is properly filled?
Ask for it to be weighed in front of you. The empty weight is stamped on the cylinder, so the gas content is the total weight minus that figure.
What is the official LPG price in Pakistan?
OGRA notifies a maximum producer price monthly, plus margins and taxes. For August 2026 that worked out at about Rs 3,000.92 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder. What you pay locally is usually higher.
Why does my shop charge more than the notified rate?
The notified rate sits near the start of the supply chain. Distributor and retailer margins, transport and delivery are added after it, and remote areas pay more because the gas has further to travel.
Is ogra.com.pk the official regulator website?
No. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority is at ogra.org.pk. Lookalike domains rank highly on LPG and petrol price searches and should not be relied on.
