From Pakistan, you can pay £500 on top of the UK visa fee for priority service, with a decision usually within 5 working days, or £1,000 for super priority, with a decision usually by the end of the next working day. Each family member pays separately. You choose it when you book your visa centre appointment, but only if that centre offers it for your visa.

We read the UK government's page on getting a faster visa decision on gov.uk on 20 October 2026. The standard wait for a visit visa from Pakistan is about 3 weeks, so priority buys time, not approval. If the visa is refused, the extra fee is gone.

Priority costs £500 and super priority £1,000

Gov.uk sets priority at £500 and super priority at £1,000, both on top of the visa fee. Priority usually gives a decision within 5 working days for most visas. Super priority usually gives one by the end of the next working day.

Family and settlement applications from outside the UK work differently. With priority, they usually take 30 working days, not 5. That is still faster than the standard family route, but plan for six weeks, not one.

ServiceExtra feeUsual decision time
StandardNoneAbout 3 weeks for a visit visa
Priority£500Within 5 working days for most visas
Priority, family or settlement£500About 30 working days
Super priority£1,000By the end of the next working day

A family of three pays the extra fee three times

Every family member applying with you pays the faster decision fee too: £500 each for priority or £1,000 each for super priority. Gov.uk says everyone gets a decision at the same time. For a family of three visitors, priority adds £1,500 to the visa fees.

ExampleVisa feeFaster decision feeTotal
One visitor, standard£135None£135
One visitor, priority£135£500£635
One visitor, super priority£135£1,000£1,135
Three visitors, priority£405£1,500£1,905

The £135 is the gov.uk fee for a Standard Visitor visa of up to 6 months. The totals are our arithmetic. They leave out other costs, such as a TB test, and the extra service fees a visa centre may charge on its own account.

You pick it at the visa centre booking in Pakistan

From Pakistan, you prove your identity either at a visa application centre or with the UK Immigration: ID Check app. If you go to a centre, check whether it offers priority or super priority for your visa, and select it when booking.

UK visa applicants in Pakistan are sent to VFS Global centres. When we checked on 3 October 2026, VFS listed centres in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Priority does not change the rest of the process: the online form, documents and appointment stay the same as for any UK visit visa from Pakistan.

  1. Complete the online visa application on gov.uk and pay the visa fee.
  2. Book your appointment through the visa centre's booking system.
  3. Look for priority or super priority on the booking screen for your visa type.
  4. Select it and pay the extra fee, or pay at the appointment if told to.
  5. Give your fingerprints and photo at the centre on the day.
  6. Watch your email, including the spam folder, for the decision.

The clock starts at your appointment, not at payment

The 5 working days or next working day count from your appointment if you prove identity in person. With the ID Check app, the clock starts the working day after you finish uploading. A weekend or bank holiday appointment adds a day to super priority.

Gov.uk also says the decision can take longer if the Home Office needs to check your details with other departments or asks for more information. In that case you will not usually get the extra fee back. So upload complete documents the first time. A missing bank statement can cost you the whole point of paying.

When the UK priority visa fee is refunded and when it is not, for applicants in Pakistan

A refusal means no refund of the £500 or £1,000

If your visa is refused, the priority or super priority fee is not refunded. If you cancel before giving fingerprints and a photo, you get it back. After biometrics, you usually will not. A late decision caused by a Home Office problem may be refunded.

If you paid VFS Global directly before your appointment, ask for a refund in your VFS account under services, then cancel services. If you paid TLScontact at the appointment, email the Home Office priority refund team. Refunds go to the same account you paid from and can take up to 28 days.

Priority is offered for most visas, but not every one

Gov.uk says you can get a faster decision on most visas applied for from outside the UK, and you are told when you apply whether it is available. Inside the UK, a table shows most work and study visas qualify.

Priority makes most sense when a date is fixed: a university start, a job start under the Health and Care Worker visa, or a family event. It makes least sense when your papers are thin, because speed does not help a weak case. If you were refused before, sort out the reason first, using the options for a refused UK visa in Pakistan.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 20 October 2026. The £500 and £1,000 fees, decision times, family rules, how to choose the service and the refund rules come from the gov.uk faster decision guidance, which we read in full on 20 October 2026. The £135 Standard Visitor fee comes from the gov.uk Standard Visitor page, read the same day. The VFS Global centres in Pakistan are from our check on 3 October 2026. The examples are our arithmetic. We did not check which priority options each Pakistani centre offers for each visa today, so confirm it on the booking screen.
