The Zindigi Freelancer Account lets a Pakistani freelancer receive foreign payments by SWIFT or through a Pay Link, hold them in a USD wallet and convert to rupees in the app. You open it by upgrading an existing Zindigi wallet: Menu, Upgrade Account, Ultra Freelancer. Zindigi charges nothing on incoming payments, but the sending bank may take SWIFT charges.

Zindigi is the digital wallet of JS Bank. We read its freelancer account page and its schedule of charges for October to December 2026 on 1 November 2026. The account is meant for people selling IT or digital services abroad, on Fiverr, Upwork or to direct clients.

Open it by upgrading your Zindigi wallet to Ultra Freelancer

There is no separate sign-up. You need a Zindigi wallet at any level, then you upgrade inside the app. Zindigi asks for your CNIC front and back, a live picture, and a SIM registered on the same CNIC as the wallet. Biometric verification is due within 60 days.

  1. Install Zindigi and open a wallet with your mobile number and CNIC, if you do not have one.
  2. Open the menu and tap Upgrade Account.
  3. Choose Ultra Freelancer.
  4. Upload your CNIC front and back and take the live picture.
  5. Submit, then complete biometric verification within 60 days.

The SIM rule catches many people. If the number on your wallet is registered on a parent's CNIC, the upgrade will not match. Move the SIM to your own CNIC first.

Steps to open a Zindigi Freelancer Account by upgrading a wallet in the app

The USD wallet has no limit, the rupee wallet Rs 800,000 a day

Zindigi says the USD side has no transaction limit. You can keep up to $5,000 as dollars, and above that only 50% of the extra can stay in dollars. The rupee wallet allows Rs 800,000 a day, Rs 4 million a month and Rs 10 million a year.

Zindigi's two pages differ on the rupee balance cap. The account comparison page lists a maximum balance of Rs 1 million, while the freelancer page says there is no maximum balance. Ask Zindigi which applies before you park large sums.

"Non-repatriable" means the dollars cannot be sent to a foreign bank. You can only convert them to rupees in your own Zindigi account.

Get paid by SWIFT with JS Bank's code JSBLPKKA

A client or platform abroad sends a SWIFT transfer to JS Bank using the code JSBLPKKA. No routing or sort code is needed. Zindigi credits your wallet within 2 working days after it receives the money, which itself takes 3 to 7 days from the sender.

The details Zindigi gives for the sender are: bank name JS Bank, SWIFT code JSBLPKKA, branch Shaheen Complex, Shaheen Commercial Complex, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, Civil Lines, Karachi, postal code 74200. Add your own account details from the app.

Zindigi charges nothing for receiving. The sending bank may deduct SWIFT charges, and here Zindigi's two pages differ: the freelancer page says up to $50, while the schedule of charges says up to $30. Plan for up to $50 to be safe.

Tax is the other deduction. The schedule says 1% tax is charged on freelance payments as the law requires. Upwork and Fiverr users can compare this route with Upwork's direct to wallet option. For proof of foreign income, banks and wallets issue a proceeds realisation certificate (PRC).

Pay Link lets you send a foreign client a payment link they can pay by Visa or Mastercard. Registration costs Rs 500, refunded if rejected, and each link costs Rs 300. The schedule adds up to 3% on money received. Payments arrive in rupees only.

  1. In the app, go to Transfer Money, then Receive Money, then PayLink.
  2. Check your details, accept the terms and submit the registration.
  3. Wait up to 2 working days for approval.
  4. Choose Generate Payment Link, enter the amount and description, and tap Create Link.
  5. Share the link with your client abroad.

Each link stays valid for 7 days and can be opened 10 times at most. Zindigi says funds usually arrive in 2 to 3 business days after the client pays. Pay Link is for international clients only, not for customers in Pakistan.

Here is the cost on a Rs 50,000 payment through one link: Rs 300 for the link plus up to 3%, which is up to Rs 1,500. That is up to Rs 1,800 in all, before the 1% tax. Our arithmetic, from Zindigi's figures.

The Freelancer Account card works abroad

Because it is an Ultra-level account, the Freelancer Account can pay online and abroad with the Zindigi Mastercard or virtual Visa card. Foreign card payments cost 1% plus the 236Y tax on card payments abroad, which is 0.5% for filers or 1% for non-filers, according to the schedule.

That makes the account useful for paying for software, hosting or ads abroad from what you earn. A foreign ATM withdrawal costs Rs 1,000 or 1%, whichever is higher, so cash abroad is the expensive way to use it.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read Zindigi's freelancer account page, its account comparison page and its schedule of charges PDF for 1 October to 31 December 2026 on 1 November 2026. The Pay Link cost example is our arithmetic. We did not open a freelancer account or receive a payment, so approval times, app screens and the actual SWIFT deductions are not verified. The two conflicts, on SWIFT charges and on the rupee balance cap, are Zindigi's own pages disagreeing.
