LUMS graduate applications for 2027 close on Tuesday, 6 April 2027 at 5:00 pm Pakistan time. Documents and the fee are due by 7 April. The LUMS Graduate Admission Test (LGAT) is set for Sunday, 18 April 2027. This applies to MBA, MS, MPhil, PhD and LL.M. Classes begin on about 23 August 2027.

That is six months away, which is the point. Two tests, transcripts and a fee all land in the same fortnight, and people who start in March run out of time. Here is the plan, with every date taken from the LUMS admissions calendar we opened on 8 October 2026.

Mark the six LUMS graduate dates in your calendar

For most graduate programmes the dates are the same. Apply online by 6 April 2027, finish documents and fee payment on 7 April, sit the tests on 18 April, apply for financial aid by 6 May and expect decisions by 30 July 2027.

Key LUMS graduate admission dates for 2027 from application to classes

The PhD for foreign nationals in STEM fields has an earlier calendar, with a deadline of 3 March 2027 at 11:59 pm and documents on 4 March. If you are a Pakistani citizen, the main calendar applies to you.

The LGAT dates carry a "tentative" mark in several programmes on the LUMS page. Check the page again in January before you book travel for the test day.

Match each programme to its test

Every graduate programme needs the LGAT, and most need GRE or GMAT as well. STEM master's and PhD applicants also sit a LUMS SBASSE Subject Test. Which extra test you need depends on the programme.

ProgrammeTests listed by LUMS
MBALGAT and GMAT or GRE
MS in management fieldsLGAT and GMAT or GRE
MS in computer science, engineering, maths, physics, biology, chemistry, AILGAT, SBASSE Subject Test and GRE
MPhil and MS EconomicsLGAT and GRE, or GMAT for certain programmes
PhDLGAT and GRE or GMAT; STEM adds the Subject Test
LL.MLGAT and GRE
Which tests each LUMS graduate programme asks for

GRE and GMAT are booked with their own test centres, not with LUMS, so book them early. If your plan also includes a Pakistani university that once required HEC's GRE style test, note that it is not needed until Fall 2027, as explained in the note on GRE and HAT not being required until Fall 2027. That is a different rule from the LUMS test list above.

Start with the work that takes longest

Transcripts, attested degrees and test scores take weeks, not days. Do those first, then write your statement and ask for references. The LUMS form is the easy part.

  1. Pick your programme and read its page on the LUMS admissions site.
  2. Book GRE or GMAT for a date before 18 April, with scores that can reach LUMS in time.
  3. Order your transcripts and, if needed, get the degree attested through the steps to get your degree attested by HEC online.
  4. Submit the online application before 5:00 pm on 6 April 2027.
  5. Upload documents and pay the fee by 7 April.
  6. Sit the LGAT on 18 April and apply for financial aid by 6 May.
Six step plan to apply to a LUMS graduate programme before 6 April 2027

We did not find an application fee amount on the calendar page, so we do not state one. Ask LUMS or read the fee line on the application form before you plan your budget.

One more habit helps. Keep a single folder, on paper and on your phone, with your CNIC copy, transcripts, test score reports, the application confirmation and the fee receipt. LUMS asks for documents on one set day, 7 April, and you do not want to hunt for a scan at midnight. Photograph the fee receipt as soon as you pay.

Apply for financial aid separately and on time

Financial aid has its own deadline of 6 May 2027 for most programmes, a month after the main application. You do not wait for an admission result to ask, so prepare the family income papers in advance.

The calendar shows 6 May for the MBA, MS, MPhil and Economics routes. The page summary we read does not clearly show an aid date for PhD or LL.M, so do not assume the same date applies. Write to the admissions office at admissions@lums.edu.pk, or call +92-42-3560-8000, extension 2177, for the rule on yours.

Common questions about LUMS graduate admission

These answers use the LUMS calendar we read on 8 October 2026. Anything not on that page, such as the fee, is left to LUMS to confirm.

What is the LUMS graduate application deadline for 2027?

Tuesday, 6 April 2027 at 5:00 pm PKT for most programmes. Documents and fee follow on 7 April.

When is the LGAT?

Sunday, 18 April 2027. LUMS marks the LGAT date tentative for several programmes, so check again closer to the date.

Do I need the GRE for the LUMS MBA?

LUMS lists GMAT or GRE with the LGAT for the MBA. Confirm which one you can submit on the MBA page.

Are undergraduate dates for 2027 out yet?

Not when we looked. The LUMS page showed Fall 2027 undergraduate applications as opening soon, with no dates.

When do decisions come out?

The calendar says the admission process completes by 30 July 2027, and classes begin around 23 August 2027.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 8 October 2026 on the LUMS admissions site, in the critical dates table for all programmes. Dates may change. The fee, scholarship amounts and cut-offs were not on the pages we read and are not stated.
