A wooden block on a dark wooden table, for a guide to reporting disasters to PDMA Punjab

Short answer: To report a disaster in Punjab, call PDMA Punjab on 1129. The authority's own FAQ says citizens can call that number "in the time of a disaster" to file a complaint. Its office line is +92 42 99204408 and its email is pdma.gop@gmail.com.

A canal breach, a landslide on a hill road or a flood in your village can leave you unsure who to ring. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority, or PDMA, is the Punjab government body that coordinates the response to disasters. We read its website, pdma.punjab.gov.pk, on 14 October 2026 and set out below what it says, and what it does not say.

1129 is the number PDMA Punjab gives for disaster complaints

The PDMA Punjab FAQ answers the question "How can I register my complaint?" in one line: citizens can call 1129 in the time of a disaster and file their complaint. The website also lists "Helpline 1129" in its Info Desk menu.

PDMA Punjab disaster helpline number 1129

The same site gives a phone number for the office, +92 42 99204408, and an email, pdma.gop@gmail.com. It also lists Facebook, Instagram and X pages under the name PDMA Punjab. Use the phone line for urgent reports and the email for written follow up.

The site does not say whether 1129 is staffed around the clock, what a call costs or how fast PDMA replies. We could not find those details on any page we read, so we do not state them here.

Call Rescue 1122 first when someone is hurt or trapped

PDMA coordinates disaster response. It is not the ambulance or fire service. Rescue 1122 runs ambulances, rescue, fire and water rescue in Punjab, so a person in danger needs 1122 first, and PDMA can be told about the wider disaster after.

The Punjab Emergency Service page lists ambulance, rescue, fire, water rescue, animal rescue and building safety among its services. The other Rescue 1122 numbers in Punjab include 1192 for complaints.

A simple rule works: if someone needs a medic, a fire crew or a rescue team right now, dial 1122. If you want to report flooding, a hill torrent, a breach, or damage across a street or village, dial 1129 as well.

Steps to report a disaster to PDMA Punjab on 1129
  1. Make sure people are safe, and call 1122 if anyone is hurt or trapped.
  2. Call 1129 and say your district, tehsil and nearest landmark.
  3. Describe the problem in one sentence, such as a breach in a canal bank.
  4. Give a mobile number that will stay on.
  5. Write down the time of your call and any reference number you are given.

The three emergency levels decide who responds

PDMA's FAQ splits emergencies into three levels. Local events such as small fires, landslides, canal breaches and low level epidemics are level 1 and handled by the district. Level 2 overwhelms the district, so PDMA responds. Level 3 needs more than the province has.

The three emergency levels in the PDMA Punjab FAQ
LevelWhat it meansWho responds
Level 1Local events such as small fires, landslides, canal breaches, low level epidemicsThe district administration
Level 2Events that overwhelm the district's capacityPDMA
Level 3Large disaster beyond the province's resourcesThe Prime Minister declares an emergency

So a first report often goes to district officials, even when you call 1129. That is how the system is designed, not a sign that your call was ignored.

What PDMA says it does

The FAQ lists six functions: set provincial disaster policy, monitor national and provincial plans, study which parts of Punjab are exposed to which disasters, give guidelines to departments and districts, check preparedness, and coordinate the response when a disaster strikes.

The website carries more than a helpline. Its Forecasts and Alerts menu has Weather Forecast, Weather Alert and Flood Warning, and its Advisories menu has flood, weather, heatwave and snow pages. The latest weather advisory in its list is dated 5 October 2026.

For a national picture, NDMA alerts and the national helpline work alongside the provincial line. If you live in Sindh, the equivalent is PDMA Sindh on 1736.

Relief and compensation claims need a different route

The PDMA Punjab site gives no steps for filing a relief claim. It links only to a flood relief fund donation page and a cash disbursement dashboard. For flood losses, see how to claim flood damage compensation in Punjab.

Keep proof of damage while you wait: dated photos, your CNIC and any ownership paper. Do not repair or clear a damaged home before it is recorded, if that is safe to do.

Common questions

What is the PDMA Punjab helpline number?

It is 1129. The PDMA FAQ says citizens can call it in the time of a disaster to file a complaint.

Is 1129 the same as Rescue 1122?

No. 1129 is PDMA Punjab's disaster complaint line. Rescue 1122 is the emergency service for ambulances, fire and rescue.

Can I email PDMA Punjab?

Yes. The website lists pdma.gop@gmail.com. We did not test how fast it replies.

Does PDMA pay compensation?

The PDMA Punjab pages we read do not explain a claim process. Ask on 1129 or at your district office, and read the flood compensation steps.

Who responds to a small disaster, like a canal breach?

The district administration. PDMA's FAQ calls these level 1 emergencies and handles level 2 events that overwhelm the district.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked on 14 October 2026, Pakistan time. We read the PDMA Punjab FAQ and its home page. We did not call 1129, so we cannot say how it works in practice, how long a call takes or whether it is open all day. If you are in danger, call 1122 now.
