Short answer: Rescue 1122 in Punjab has two numbers on its official website. Call 1122 for an emergency. Call 1192 for the lost helpline, complaints and feedback. Do not use 1192 for an emergency, and do not use 1122 to complain about a past service.

In an emergency, people lose seconds deciding whom to call. After the emergency, many do not know where to send a complaint or a thank you. The Emergency Services Department, which runs Rescue 1122, publishes both numbers on its home page. This guide sets out which one to use and what the service covers.

We read the Emergency Services Department website on 13 October 2026. It lists the helplines in one short block. It does not publish a response time, so we do not quote one. The department also does not say on that page whether 1192 is open all day, so check when you call.

Call 1122 when a life or property is at risk

The website names 1122 as the Emergency Number. It describes the Rescue 1122 model as an integrated emergency service for professional management of emergencies. These include medical emergencies, road traffic crashes, fires and hazardous material incidents, building collapse and water rescue.

The department lists its functions as ambulance service, rescue service, fire service, motorbike rescue, water rescue, animal rescue, building safety and community safety. If you are unsure whether your problem counts, call 1122 and let the operator decide. A wasted call costs less than a late one.

For a patient who needs a flight, the process is set out in the guide to requesting the free air ambulance. If you are comparing private options, the list of Edhi and Chhipa ambulance booking numbers shows other services.

Call 1192 for the lost helpline, complaints and feedback

The same block lists 1192 as "Lost Helpline / Complaints / Feedback". It is the number for matters that are not emergencies. Use it to report a problem with a past Rescue 1122 service, to give feedback, or to ask about something lost.

The page does not say what kinds of lost items or persons the lost helpline handles. If a person has gone missing, the police process comes first. See the steps to report a missing person in Pakistan.

A complaint is easier to act on when you give the facts: the date, the place, the type of call and what went wrong. Write them down before you ring. If you also want the wider list of Punjab numbers, read the official list of 37 Punjab government helplines.

Know when not to call 1122

An emergency line works best when it is kept free for real emergencies. Do not call 1122 to ask about job results, to check a building certificate or to ask for a general service. Those questions have other routes, and the department publishes an email address and an office address for them.

If you are not sure, ask yourself one question. Is a life, a limb or a building in danger right now? If yes, call 1122. If no, use 1192 for a complaint or feedback, or write to the department. A call that has no emergency can slow help for someone else.

A good complaint to 1192 names the date, the time, the place and what you expected. It also says what you saw, for example a delay in reaching you. Keep your own notes of the call, because a ticket number helps if you must follow up.

Other Rescue 1122 services are not for emergency calls

Rescue 1122 also runs services that need an application, not a phone call. Some businesses and buildings need a certificate from the department. The guide to the building safety measures certificate covers buildings over 50 feet. Gyms and health clubs have their own process, in the gym registration guide.

The website also lists jobs and community training. For jobs, see how to apply for Rescue 1122 jobs in Punjab. Use the department's contact email, shown on its site as pio@rescue.gov.pk, for general queries that are not urgent.

The Punjab Emergency Service Act 2006 and the Punjab Community Safety Act 2021 are the two laws the website lists as guiding the department.

Five steps for a clear emergency call

  1. Dial 1122 and stay on the line.
  2. Say what has happened in one short sentence.
  3. Give the exact place: area, street, a landmark and the city.
  4. Give your phone number and the number of people hurt.
  5. Follow the operator's instructions and do not hang up first.
