Call With Zero Balance on Jazz and Zong in Pakistan: Beep, Sponsor Me and Yaari Call
Out of balance on Jazz or Zong? Send a free beep, use Jazz Sponsor Me with 70 before a number, or Zong Yaari Call with 11. See who pays and what it costs.

With no balance on Jazz, you can send a beep (missed call) to any number, and the first one each day is free, or dial 70 before a number to call on a sponsor's balance through Sponsor Me. On Zong, dial 11 before another Zong number for a Yaari Call, which is free for you while the person you call pays Rs 2 plus tax a minute.
Running out of balance always happens at the wrong moment: a late bus, a hospital corridor, a parent waiting at the school gate. Jazz and Zong both have built-in services for this, and most people only know the advance loan. We read the service pages on jazz.com.pk and zong.com.pk on 20 October 2026. Here is what each one does, what it costs, and who pays.
Five ways to reach someone with zero balance
Jazz offers Beep Call and Sponsor Me. Zong offers Beep Call, Yaari Call and a free balance request on *829#. A beep only asks the other person to call back. Sponsor Me and Yaari Call connect a real call, paid by someone else.
| Service | Network | How to use | Who pays | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beep Call | Jazz | Default on prepaid, works when balance is too low | You | First beep a day free, then Rs 0.14 incl. tax, 15 a day |
| Sponsor Me | Jazz | Dial 70 before the number | Your Jazz sponsor | Rs 0.99 a day incl. tax for the service, calls at sponsor's rate |
| Beep Call | Zong | Default, triggers when balance is low | You | 10 paisa plus tax a beep |
| Yaari Call | Zong | Dial 11 before a Zong number | The person you call | Rs 2 plus tax a minute |
| Balance request | Zong | Dial *829# | Whoever agrees to send | Free to request |

Jazz Beep Call sends a free missed call once a day
Jazz Beep Call lets a prepaid user with too little balance send a missed call to any Jazz or other network number. Jazz says the first beep each day is free, later beeps cost Rs 0.14 including tax, and the limit is 15 a day.
The service is switched on by default for all Jazz prepaid users. Jazz's page also says it is "available free of cost", which really means there is no subscription fee. The per beep charge still applies after the first one. If you never want it, send UNSUB to 5188, free of charge.
A beep works on any phone, including a basic keypad set. The other person sees a missed call and decides whether to ring back.
Jazz Sponsor Me lets a family member pay for your calls
Sponsor Me links your Jazz number to a sponsor's Jazz number. Once the sponsor accepts, you dial 70 before any number, on any network, and the sponsor's balance pays for the call. The service costs Rs 0.99 a day including tax, and the code is *70#.
- Send REQ, a space and the sponsor's number to 7008, or dial *70*1#.
- Your sponsor accepts the request on their Jazz phone.
- To call, dial 70 and then the number, for example 7003xxxxxxxxx.
- Send STATUS to 7008 to check your subscription, or CHECK SPONSOR to 7008.
- Send UNSUB to 7008 to stop the service.

The sponsor stays in control. Jazz says a sponsor can cover up to 3 numbers, choose to pay for all calls or approve each call, and block requests from a number or a range of numbers. Calls are charged to the sponsor at their own package rate.
This suits a parent paying for a child's calls, or a son abroad on a Pakistani Jazz number covering an elderly father. It does not suit a stranger. Never accept a sponsor request from a number you do not know.
Zong Yaari Call puts the cost on the person you call
Zong's Yaari Call is a collect call. You dial 11 before a Zong number, or *110* then the number and #, and the other person can accept. Zong says the caller pays nothing and the receiver pays Rs 2 plus tax a minute, whatever package they have.
Three limits matter. It works only from Zong to Zong. The receiver's bundle minutes do not apply, so a long Yaari Call can cost more than a normal call. And Zong says no caller name flash appears on a Yaari Call for users of its Caller Name service.
Postpaid Zong users can also start a Yaari Call, as long as their outgoing calls are not barred.
Zong Beep Call and the *829# balance request
Zong Beep Call works like Jazz's. It is on by default and triggers when you call with too little balance. Zong charges 10 paisa plus tax a beep. To switch it off, Zong says to call its helpline 310.
Zong's Yaari Load adds a free balance request on *829#. A friend or relative on Zong can then send you Rs 10 to Rs 200 on *828#. Zong says both sides must be prepaid, up to 5 transfers a day, and the sender must keep at least Rs 5 after the transfer. The sharing rules are set out in full for sharing Zong balance on *828#.
Advance loan is the last resort, not the first
Both networks also lend balance that is deducted, with a service fee, at your next recharge. That fee is why we put it last. A free beep or a balance request from family costs less. The current fees for each network sit with the advance balance codes for all networks.
One caution applies to all of these. A beep from a number you do not know is not a reason to ring back, and Zong's own pages warn customers never to share a PIN with anyone. If a caller asks for one, report the scam number to your operator.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
Last checked 20 October 2026. We read Jazz's Beep Call page and Sponsor Me page, and Zong's Yaari Call page, Beep Call page, Yaari Load page and zero balance page, all on that date. Codes, charges and limits come from those pages. Jazz prices include tax; Zong prices are shown plus tax. We did not place a beep, a sponsored call or a Yaari Call ourselves, so we could not confirm how each appears on the receiving phone.
