How to Check CNIC Details With Picture in Pakistan, and What NADRA Allows

You cannot check another person's CNIC details or picture online in Pakistan. NADRA offers no public lookup, and any website that shows a stranger's CNIC photo is either a scam or using leaked data. The legal routes are checking your own record on the PakID app, and consent-based verification through NADRA for businesses.

Search "CNIC details with picture" and you find pages promising a name, address and photo for any 13 digit number. We checked what NADRA itself offers on nadra.gov.pk on 27 September 2026. None of its services let a member of the public pull up someone else's card.

Using such a site is not harmless curiosity either. Section 16 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA) makes it a crime to obtain or use another person's identity information without authorisation. Here is what you can check, who can verify a CNIC, and what to do if your own data is being misused.

NADRA has no public CNIC lookup with picture

NADRA does not publish any service where you enter a CNIC number and see the holder's name, photo or address. Its verification services are for the card holder, or for registered organisations with the holder's consent or fingerprints.

NADRA's verification page lists four services. Each one either needs the card holder present or is sold only to organisations under an agreement.

The key word is consent. NADRA describes Verisys as a "citizen's consent (OTP)-based" service. The holder gets the code, so nobody can run a check on them silently.

How to check your own CNIC details and photo

Use NADRA's PakID app. It lets you apply for, renew and reprint your CNIC, verify yourself with fingerprints through the phone camera, and track applications. Changing any detail on your card goes through the same app.

1. Install PakID from the official Google Play or App Store listing linked on nadra.gov.pk.
2. Register with your own CNIC and mobile number.
3. Complete PakID biometric verification with your fingerprints through the phone camera.
4. Choose renewal or modification for your own CNIC, which is where you review and change the details on your card.
5. If something is wrong, apply for a modification in the app or at a NADRA centre.

If you already applied for a new card, you can track the NADRA application by SMS or in the app. Tracking shows the stage, not the holder's data.

How a business can verify a CNIC legally

A landlord, employer or shop cannot look a CNIC up themselves. They can ask the person to verify at an e-Sahulat franchise, or use an organisation that is a registered NADRA client. The check then happens with the person's fingerprints or consent.

This is the kind of check a bank or mobile company runs on a new customer. The customer puts a finger on a scanner, and NADRA answers whether it matches the card. The business learns "match" or "no match", not the full database record.

For a tenant or a new domestic worker, the simplest honest step is to ask them to show the original card and do a biometric check with you at a nearby e-Sahulat franchise. A person with nothing to hide will usually agree.

Sites that promise CNIC photo lookup are illegal or fake

A site that shows a stranger's CNIC details with picture is either selling leaked data or taking your money for nothing. Both are risky. Under PECA section 16, using another person's identity information without authorisation can bring up to three years in jail.

The penalties are written in two laws we read on the Pakistan Code.

• PECA 2016, section 16: obtaining, selling, possessing, sending or using another person's identity information without authorisation carries up to three years in prison, a fine of up to Rs 5 million, or both.
• NADRA Ordinance 2000, section 28: anyone who publishes information they know was leaked from NADRA faces up to five years, a fine of up to Rs 1 million, or both.
• NADRA Ordinance 2000, section 29: misusing NADRA's database or its data carries up to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment, and a fine of at least Rs 1 million.

There is a scam risk too. Many of these pages ask you to type your own CNIC and phone number first, or to pay by mobile wallet. You hand your data to strangers and get nothing lawful back. NADRA's domain policy says its only official website is nadra.gov.pk and its subdomains. Anything else is not NADRA.

What to do if someone misuses your CNIC

First check which SIMs are on your CNIC, then block any you did not buy. Report data misuse to NADRA on its 1777 helpline or complaints portal. PECA section 16 also lets you apply to the regulator to block or remove your leaked identity data.

Start with the SIMs, because a SIM on your name is the most common misuse. The SIM Information System at cnic.sims.pk, and the 668 SMS check, show how many SIMs each network has on your CNIC. You can then block any SIM on your CNIC that you did not buy.

For the card itself, contact NADRA on 1777 or at complaints.nadra.gov.pk. If the card is lost, report it and get a replacement, because the law expects a lost card to be reported within 30 days.

Under section 16(2) of PECA, a victim may ask "the Authority" to secure, destroy or block access to their identity information. Since the 2025 amendment, that Authority is the Social Media Protection and Regulatory Authority. We could not find a published application process for it yet.
