Check the ICC ODI Table Before the Tri-Series: Pakistan Fifth on 100, England and Sri Lanka on 95
Pakistan are fifth in the ICC ODI rankings on 100, five points above England and Sri Lanka. See the table before the tri-series and how to work out the gaps.

Before the ODI tri-series, Pakistan are fifth in the ICC men's ODI team rankings with a rating of 100. Their two rivals, England and Sri Lanka, are sixth and seventh, both on 95. Australia, fourth on 102, are the nearest team above Pakistan. To check it, open the ICC's ODI team table and read the rank date.
We opened the ICC's men's ODI team table on 14 October 2026. Its rank date is 14 October. The tri-series runs from 18 to 31 October, so this is the table as it stands before a ball is bowled. The decimals below are our own division of the ICC's points by matches.
Pakistan lead both tri-series rivals by about five points
Pakistan are fifth on 100, with 3,215 points from 32 matches. England are sixth on 95 from 34 matches and Sri Lanka seventh on 95 from 39. Pakistan therefore start five rating points above both visiting teams.
| Position | Team | Matches | Points | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | South Africa | 34 | 3,547 | 104 |
| 4 | Australia | 35 | 3,568 | 102 |
| 5 | Pakistan | 32 | 3,215 | 100 |
| 6 | England | 34 | 3,235 | 95 |
| 7 | Sri Lanka | 39 | 3,702 | 95 |
| 8 | Afghanistan | 28 | 2,565 | 92 |

England and Sri Lanka share a rounded rating, but not an exact one. England are on 95.1 and Sri Lanka on 94.9, so England sit one place higher. That is why the ICC lists them 6th and 7th with the same whole number.
The gap to the top is wide. India lead the table on 115 and New Zealand are second on 109. Pakistan are 15 points behind India. So the realistic question for this series is not the top spot but whether Pakistan can close on Australia and South Africa while keeping England and Sri Lanka behind.
Australia are the only team within two points above Pakistan
Australia are on 102, which is 1.5 points ahead of Pakistan once you divide the points (101.9 against 100.5). South Africa, third on 104, are 3.8 points ahead. Our earlier report on Pakistan's fifth place in the ODI rankings had the same positions.
A tri-series does not include Australia or South Africa. So the series cannot take Pakistan past them by direct results. It can still move the ratings, because every ranked match changes a team's own points and match count. We cannot say by how much, and the ICC table gives no forecast.
Look at it from the visitors' side. England and Sri Lanka both need a strong run just to catch Pakistan, and in the tri-series each team plays the other two twice, then the top two meet in the final, as our fixtures page lists. Every one of those games is ranked, so the table can shift more in two weeks than in the previous month.
Sri Lanka's long match list moves the slowest
Sri Lanka have 39 matches on the table, more than any other team in the top eight. A team with many matches changes slowly, because one result is a small part of a big total. Pakistan have only 32 matches, so a single result changes their average more than it changes Sri Lanka's.
That cuts both ways. A win could lift Pakistan quickly. A loss could pull the rating down just as fast. England have 34 matches, which puts them in between.
- Open icc-cricket.com and choose Rankings.
- Pick Men's, then Team Rankings, then ODI.
- Read the rank date above the table.
- Note Pakistan's matches and points.
- Divide points by matches to get the unrounded rating, then compare with the teams above and below.

Check the table again when the tri-series ends
The ICC updates a table when a series finishes, so the numbers above are a before picture. After 31 October, open the same page and look at the rank date. If the date has moved on, the table has been refreshed.
Our page on the Pakistan ODI tri-series fixtures lists the match dates. For the player side of the same picture, see where each Pakistan player stands in the ICC ODI rankings. The team table and the player tables are separate, so a team can rise while a player falls.

One caution. The tri-series is not the only thing that decides this table. The ICC also does an annual update around 1 May each year. Outside that update, results change the table only as matches finish.
