Pakistan are fifth in the ICC men's ODI team rankings, with 3,215 points from 32 matches and a rating of 100, on the table dated 10 October 2026. Australia are fourth on 102. England and Sri Lanka, Pakistan's opponents in the October tri-series, are both on 95.

We opened the ICC's official rankings page on Sunday 11 October and read the full ODI table. The ICC marks it "Rank date 10 October 2026". Pakistan's next ODIs are in the ODI tri-series with England and Sri Lanka, which starts on 18 October. Their T20Is against Sri Lanka do not count in this table.

This page gives the numbers, shows how the ICC works out a rating, and explains why the tri-series matters for the ranking.

Pakistan sit fifth in the ICC ODI team rankings on 100

The ICC table dated 10 October 2026 puts Pakistan fifth with 3,215 points from 32 matches, which gives a rating of 100. India lead on 115, New Zealand are second on 109, South Africa third on 104 and Australia fourth on 102.

Pakistan are two rating points behind Australia and five clear of England and Sri Lanka. That is a small gap in both directions. One good or bad series can change the order.

The rating is simply points divided by matches

The ICC rating is the team's points divided by its matches played, rounded to a whole number. Pakistan have 3,215 points from 32 matches, which is 100.5 before rounding. The ICC shows 100.

You can test this on any row. Australia have 3,568 points from 35 matches, which is 101.9, shown as 102. England have 3,235 from 34, which is 95.2, shown as 95. Sri Lanka have 3,702 from 39, which is 94.9, shown as 95.

This explains something that confuses many fans. Sri Lanka have more total points than Pakistan (3,702 against 3,215), yet they sit below Pakistan. The table is ranked by rating, not by total points. A team that plays more matches does not gain by playing more. It gains only by doing well.

The ICC does the rest of the arithmetic behind the scenes. It gives more points for beating a higher rated team and takes more for losing to a lower rated one. We have not copied the ICC's full formula here, because it is long and the ICC page is the place to read it.

Sri Lanka and England are Pakistan's next rivals, and both sit on 95

Pakistan's next ODIs are against the two teams just below them. The PCB schedule has Pakistan play Sri Lanka on 18 October and England on 20 October at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Both teams are on a rating of 95.

The tri-series has seven matches between 18 and 31 October, and each team plays the other two twice. That is up to four ODIs for Pakistan before the final on 31 October at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The full list is in our tri-series squads piece, and the match dates are in the fixture list linked above.

Beating a team on 95 as a team on 100 earns a modest gain. Losing to them costs more. We cannot say how many points the ICC will move, because that depends on the final score line and the formula. What we can say is that the order of fourth to seventh is close enough for all four of these games to matter.

Why a few rating points are worth caring about

The ranking is the ICC's own yardstick for how strong a team is right now, and it is the number fans and boards quote. It is also the easiest way to see whether a series result was an upset or an expected win.

For Pakistan, the 2027 ODI World Cup is the next big event. Our Cricket World Cup 2027 schedule piece has the dates. We have not confirmed on an ICC page whether the 2027 qualification rule uses a ranking cut, so we do not claim that the 100 rating secures anything.

The Test side is in a very different place. Pakistan are last in the World Test Championship table after the point deductions. ODIs are where Pakistan currently look strongest on paper.

How to check the table yourself in a minute

The ICC publishes the table free on its website and updates it after every completed series. You do not need an account, and you can compare any date.

  1. Open icc-cricket.com and choose Rankings.
  2. Choose Men's, then Team Rankings, then ODI.
  3. Read the "Rank date" above the table. It tells you how fresh the numbers are.
  4. Check Matches and Points, then divide points by matches to confirm the rating.
  5. Check again after 20 October, when Pakistan's first two tri-series games will be done.

Be careful with screenshots on social media. A table without a rank date can be weeks old. Always match the date to the ICC page.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 11 October 2026, about 2:40 am PKT. Positions, matches, points and ratings are from the ICC men's ODI team rankings page, rank date 10 October 2026. Tri-series dates and venues are from the PCB schedule as recorded on our tri-series fixture page. Ratings were checked by dividing points by matches. We did not read the ICC's full rating formula or any 2027 World Cup qualification rule on an ICC page, so we make no claim on either.
