All three squads for the Pakistan ODI tri-series are now out: 16 players each for Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. Shaheen Shah Afridi captains Pakistan, Harry Brook leads England and Kusal Mendis leads Sri Lanka. The series starts with Pakistan v Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on Sunday 18 October.

We read each board's own announcement: the PCB release of 5 October, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) release of 1 October and the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) release of 4 October. Then we put the three lists side by side and checked them against the fixture list. Online ticket sales for the tri-series open at 3:00 pm on Saturday 10 October.

Pakistan's 16-man ODI squad for the tri-series

Shaheen Shah Afridi stays as Pakistan's ODI captain for the tri-series. Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Salman Ali Agha and Faheem Ashraf are in the 50-over side but not the T20I squad, as are wicketkeepers Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Saad Baig. Mike Hesson is head coach.

Nine of the 16 are also in the T20I squad led by Sahibzada Farhan, so most of the side will already be in Rawalpindi when the ODIs begin. Farhan himself is not in the ODI squad.

The spin options stand out. Abrar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Moqim are all in, and Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha can bowl part-time overs too. The PCB gave no reasons for any pick.

England's squad: Harry Brook captain, three uncapped players

England have picked 16 players under Harry Brook. Joe Root and Adil Rashid are in. Jofra Archer is rested and Jos Buttler is out with a hamstring injury. Three players have never played an ODI: Mason Crane, Henry Crocombe and James Coles.

  • Batters: Harry Brook (captain), Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Tom Banton, Jordan Cox.
  • All-rounders: Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Liam Dawson, James Coles.
  • Spinners: Adil Rashid, Mason Crane.
  • Fast bowlers: Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker, Henry Crocombe, Josh Tongue.

The groupings above are our own, for easy reading. The ECB lists the squad alphabetically with counties, not by role. Rashid returns after a hand injury and Curran after a groin injury, the ECB says. England arrive after the T20Is, so their first game is against Pakistan on 20 October.

Tri-series captains: Shaheen Shah Afridi for Pakistan, Harry Brook for England and Kusal Mendis for Sri Lanka, 16 players each

Sri Lanka's squad: Kusal Mendis leads, Nissanka a fitness doubt

Sri Lanka's 16-member ODI squad is led by Kusal Mendis. Opener Pathum Nissanka will travel only if he is declared medically fit, SLC says. Mendis was also named Sri Lanka's new Test captain on 8 October, so he leads them in every format on this tour.

Sri Lanka squad
Kusal Mendis (captain), Pathum Nissanka (subject to fitness), Avishka Fernando, Kamil Mishara, Pavan Rathnayake, Sahan Arachchige
Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka, Dunith Wellalage
Maheesh Theekshana, Sachindu Colombage
Dushmantha Chameera, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka, Eshan Malinga

Sri Lanka are already in Pakistan for the T20Is, and many of these players are in that squad too. Chameera has a strong record at Rawalpindi, where he was player of the match against Pakistan in the tri-series of November 2025.

Tri-series fixtures and how to get tickets

Seven matches run from 18 to 31 October: three in Rawalpindi, then three league games and the final in Lahore. Each team plays the other two twice, and the top two meet in the final on Saturday 31 October at Gaddafi Stadium.

What the squads tell us before 18 October

England have sent a strong but not full-strength side, with Buttler injured and Archer rested. Pakistan have picked their senior ODI group, with Babar back alongside Shaheen, Naseem and Haris. Sri Lanka look settled under one captain for the whole tour.

Start times have not been published by the PCB or the ECB. The full tri-series schedule will be updated once they are. Check the time on the ticket before you plan your travel.
