How to Check Brexin, Danzen DS, Novidat and Tonoflex-P Tablets Against DRAP's Spurious Medicine Alerts in Pakistan
DRAP named one spurious batch each of Brexin, Danzen DS, Novidat and Tonoflex-P in June 2026. See the four batch numbers, lab results and how to report a pack.

If you have Brexin 20 mg, Danzen DS, Novidat 500 mg or Tonoflex-P tablets at home, check the batch number now: DRAP says batch 1207863 (Brexin), 4476 (Danzen DS), 139N086 (Novidat) and 248N105 (Tonoflex-P) are spurious. Lab tests found no active ingredient in them. Do not use a matching pack, and ask a doctor or pharmacist what to do next.
These are common medicines for pain, swelling and infection. A tablet with nothing in it does not treat anything, and the person taking it may think they are being treated. DRAP, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, issued the three alerts on 2 and 3 June 2026. We read them on DRAP's own website on 8 October 2026. This guide is not medical advice.

The four named batches in one table
DRAP named four products in three alerts. Each alert gives one batch number, the manufacturer the pack claims, and the lab result. Compare your pack with this table. The batch number is printed on the box or strip, near the expiry date.
| Product | Batch DRAP named | Lab finding |
|---|---|---|
| Brexin 20 mg (alert of 2 June) | 1207863 | Piroxicam not identified, 0.0% of labelled claim |
| Danzen DS (alert of 2 June) | 4476 | Serratiopeptidase not identified, 0.0 mg a tablet |
| Novidat 500 mg (alert of 3 June) | 139N086 | 0.00 mg a tablet against 500 mg stated |
| Tonoflex-P (alert of 3 June) | 248N105 | 0.00 mg a tablet for both ingredients |
Only those batches are named. A pack of the same medicine with a different batch is not covered by these alerts. Still, buy only from a licensed pharmacy.

Spurious means a fake that looks real
DRAP calls these products spurious or falsified. The pack claims to come from a real company, but the company did not make it. For Danzen DS, DRAP says the manufacturer "disowned the batch". For Brexin, the lab confirmed the finding with the marketing authorisation holder.
DRAP says the Punjab drug testing laboratory found all four. For Brexin and Danzen, DRAP says the tablet colour, blister, printing or embossed font differed from genuine packs. It is hard for a shopper to see these differences, which is why the batch check matters more than the look.
| Medicine | Pack claims to be made by |
|---|---|
| Brexin 20 mg | Chiesi Farmaceutici, Italy |
| Danzen DS | Helix Pharma, Karachi |
| Novidat 500 mg and Tonoflex-P | SAMI Pharmaceuticals, Karachi |
Check your pack in five steps
You need the box or strip, good light and two minutes. If you already threw away the box, you cannot check the batch, so ask your pharmacy for the batch it supplied.
- Find the product name on the pack.
- Find the batch number near the expiry date.
- Compare it with the table above.
- If it matches, stop using that pack, keep it and the receipt, and call your doctor.
- Report it to DRAP and tell the shop it came from.
If you have already taken tablets from a named batch, DRAP's advice is to consult a healthcare provider. Do not try to treat yourself. We cannot tell you what to take instead.

Report to DRAP and buy from licensed shops
DRAP's advice in all three alerts is the same: obtain medicines only from licensed pharmacies, do not use the named batches, and report problems to the pharmacovigilance centre. The June 3 alert gives DRAP's toll-free number 0800-03727, staffed Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
Our guide to reporting a medicine side effect to DRAP shows the form. If you think a shop sells fakes on purpose, use the guide to reporting counterfeit medicine. To check a shop, see how to check a pharmacy's drug licence in Punjab. To check a registration number, see how to check a medicine is registered with DRAP.
The same month DRAP also named cancer medicines. See the guide to checking your cancer medicine against DRAP's alerts. For recalls generally, read the guide to checking if a medicine batch is recalled.
When you buy tablets, a few habits lower the risk. Buy from a shop you know that shows its drug licence. Ask for a printed receipt with the shop name. Keep the box until the strip is finished. Be careful with a price far below other shops, or with a seller who has no shop and only a phone number.
These habits do not prove a pack is genuine. Only the maker or DRAP can confirm that. But a receipt and the box give you the batch number and a place to complain if an alert is issued later.
What we could not confirm
We could not confirm that these packs were sold in any particular city or shop. DRAP's alerts say the lab found them, not where they were sold. We did not see the packs ourselves.
Common questions about the spurious tablet alerts
Are all Brexin or Danzen tablets fake?
No. DRAP names one batch for each product. Genuine packs from licensed pharmacies with other batch numbers are not named in these alerts.
Where is the batch number on the pack?
Usually on the box and on the strip, near the expiry date, marked "Batch", "B. No" or "Lot".
I already took tablets from a named batch. What now?
DRAP says to consult a healthcare provider if you have a problem. Tell the doctor the product name and batch.
How do I report a fake pack?
Use the pharmacovigilance reporting form or the Report a Problem link on dra.gov.pk. You can also call 0800-03727 in working hours.
Can I return the tablets to the shop?
You can ask. Keep the pack and receipt as evidence first. DRAP told pharmacists to check stock and stop supplying named batches.
