Two Provinces Have a Dastak. One Delivers Documents, One Does Gun Licences.

Punjab's Dastak brings government services to your door. KP's Dastak is for arms licences. Same name, different provinces, no connection.

Dastak in Punjab and Dastak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are two different government services

If somebody tells you to "use Dastak", ask which province they mean.

Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa both run a government service by that name. In Punjab it brings government documents to your door. In KP it is for arms licences.

They share a name and nothing else. We read both on 11 August 2026.

What each one actually is

Neither is a national service. Neither covers the other province.

Punjab's Dastak brings the office to you

The platform calls itself Maryam Ki Dastak, and describes itself as Punjab's one stop online platform for applying for government services.

The part worth understanding is the choice it offers. You can do a service yourself online, or you can choose doorstep delivery by a trained facilitator. That is the difference between this and an ordinary government website.

For anyone who has spent a day in a queue for a document, or who cannot easily travel, that is the whole proposition. It is also why the service is worth knowing about before you need it rather than after.

The departments listed on the platform include:

  • DLIMS, the land records system, whose services the platform says are now fully on it
  • Board of Revenue
  • Excise and Taxation
  • Lahore Development Authority
  • Local Government

You can register as an applicant, or apply to become a facilitator yourself, which is the role that carries out the doorstep visits.

This is also why Punjab readers keep meeting the name. Dastak appears as a doorstep delivery link on individual department sites, including Agriculture and Energy, so you encounter it while trying to do something else entirely.

KP's Dastak is about weapons

Check which province before using a service called Dastak

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dastak is a digital arms licensing service. It lets you apply for, renew and manage an arms licence, gives real-time status updates, takes payments, and helps you find your nearest NADRA office for biometric verification.

The site also carries sections on a housing scheme, arms dealer listings and application tracking.

So a KP resident searching Dastak finds a weapons portal, and a Punjab resident searching the same word finds a document service. Both are correct for their own province.

A note on arms licensing elsewhere

We looked at arms licensing across provinces this week and stopped before publishing a general guide. It is worth explaining why, because it affects how you should treat anything you read on this subject.

For KP the position is clear: dastak.kp.gov.pk is a provincial government domain and describes the service directly.

For Punjab we could not establish which portal is official. The provincial portal refused our automated request, one widely cited site did not resolve at all, and another carried NADRA branding on a domain we could not verify as official. So we are not telling anyone where to apply for an arms licence in Punjab, because sending people to the wrong site for a weapons licence and a payment is not a mistake worth risking.

If you are in Punjab, ask your district administration directly rather than trusting a search result. That is the honest answer and it is better than a confident wrong one.

Using Punjab's Dastak

Steps to use the Dastak platform in Punjab
  1. Go to dastak.punjab.gov.pk and register as an applicant.
  2. Browse by department rather than searching a service name, since official names rarely match what people call things.
  3. Choose self service or doorstep delivery. The second sends a trained facilitator to you.
  4. For land records, DLIMS services are on the platform.
  5. Check the fee before confirming. Self service and facilitator delivery are different products, and we did not find a published fee schedule.

One safety point that applies to both provinces. The real services sit on punjab.gov.pk and kp.gov.pk government domains. A Dastak on a .com or .org.pk address is neither of them, whatever it looks like. That is the same trap we found with apps called Pak Hajj and with dead addresses still circulating for the Sehat Card.

Why this keeps happening

This is the third time in a week we have found the same problem: a government service where the name people are given does not uniquely identify the thing they need.

Three government apps called Pak Hajj. A Sehat Card address in wide circulation that no longer resolves. And now two provinces with a Dastak that do unrelated jobs.

None of these are scandals and we are not presenting them as such. Provinces name their own programmes and nobody is obliged to check what a neighbouring province has called something. But the cumulative effect on a citizen is real, and the fix is always the same: check the domain, and check the province, before you trust the name.

Questions readers are asking

What is Dastak in Punjab?

An online one window platform for government services at dastak.punjab.gov.pk, offering either self service or doorstep delivery by a trained facilitator, covering DLIMS, Board of Revenue, Excise and Taxation, Lahore Development Authority and Local Government.

Is Dastak KP the same service?

No. dastak.kp.gov.pk is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's arms licensing portal. The two share only a name.

Can I get government documents delivered to my home in Punjab?

That is what Dastak's facilitator option is for. Register on the platform and select doorstep delivery rather than self service.

How do I apply for an arms licence in KP?

Through dastak.kp.gov.pk, which handles application, renewal, payment and locating a NADRA office for biometric verification.

How do I apply for an arms licence in Punjab?

We could not verify which portal is official, so we are not naming one. Ask your district administration directly rather than trusting a search result.

Does Dastak cost anything?

We did not find a published fee schedule. Self service and facilitator delivery are different options, so confirm the cost on the platform before you confirm a request.

Is there a Dastak app?

KP's site offers an Android app download for its arms licensing service. As always, take an app only from an official store listing and check the developer name.
