Check If You Are on the DGI&P Deportee Notice: 14 Days to Reply Before a Five Year Passport Ban
DGI&P published a deportee show cause notice on 6 October 2026: 14 days to reply or face five years on the Passport Control List. See how to check and respond.

Short answer: If you were deported from another country, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) may have published a show cause notice that carries your name. It is on the DGI&P website, under Show Cause Notices. The 6 October 2026 notice gives 14 days to send a reply and documents. If you do not reply, your passport can be put on the Passport Control List (PCL) for five years and digitally impounded.
A person deported from abroad years ago may not know that a list with their name and their father's name sits on a government website. They may find out only at an airport counter. This page explains what the notice says, how to check it and what a reply should do.
We opened the DGI&P Show Cause Notices page on 12 October 2026 and read the notice dated 6 October 2026 in full. We do not repeat any names here. Check the list yourself on the official page.
DGI&P has published five deportee notices in 2026
DGI&P's page is titled "Show Cause Notice Deportee". It holds five notices, dated 6 May, 2 August, 3 August, 1 September and 6 October 2026. Each is a scanned document with a table of names.
We read only the 6 October notice. We did not read the other four, so we do not know whether their terms match it. If your name is in an older one, open that file and read its own deadline.

The notice gives 14 days and says silence leads to a five year listing
The notice requires a reply or explanation with supporting documents within 14 days. It says that without a satisfactory response in that time, the name will go on the PCL and the passport will be digitally impounded without any further notice.
The notice does not say whether the 14 days start from its date or from the day you learn of it. Counted from 6 October, the last day would be 20 October 2026. Do not rely on the later reading. Reply early.
Deportation is one of the grounds for refusing a passport
Rule 21 of the Passport Rules, 2021 lists the grounds on which a citizen may be refused a passport. One of them is a person previously deported from abroad on account of undesirable activities, illegal entry or criminal charges.
Rule 22 sets up the PCL. It says the normal period on the list is five years. A person may stay on it longer if the referring agency recommends it with full justification. The Director General can omit a name on appeal before five years.
This is the rule the notice relies on. The notice also says that acts abroad and involvement in undesirable activities harmed the country's image. That wording is the notice's own. We report it and do not comment on any individual.
How the notice relates to the Islamabad High Court ruling
On 14 September 2026 the Islamabad High Court struck down one sentence of Rule 22(2)(b), the words that allowed names to go on the list on an agency's recommendation. We set that ruling out in the court's decision on the Passport Control List.
The 6 October notice says its names came from FIA, the Ministry of Interior and missions abroad. It cites Section 8(2) and rules 21 and 22. We cannot say from the notice how DGI&P reads the ruling. What the notice does is give written notice and a chance to reply, which is the step the court said was missing.
How to check the list and reply in time
You can check the list yourself, free. Do it today if you were deported at any time, or if a relative was and cannot check.
- Open the DGI&P website, go to About Us and choose Show Cause Notices.
- Open each notice under Show Cause Notice Deportee, starting with the 6 October 2026 file.
- Look for your name and your father's name in the table. Note the serial number, the file number and the stated source of the recommendation.
- Collect papers that show your side: your CNIC, passport copy, the deportation or travel record, and any court or police paper that shows the matter was closed.
- Send your reply and documents to the Assistant Director (PCL) before the 14 days end. The notice lists bl.branch@dgip.gov.pk and the number 051-9107052.

The list of papers in step four is our suggestion. The notice asks only for "any supporting documents". Keep proof that you sent the reply, such as a sent email with attachments.
What you can still do after placement
The notice says that after placement on the PCL you can appeal to the Director General of Immigration and Passports in Islamabad. You can also file a review before the review committee under Rule 22(2)(c).
The rules say the Director General chairs the review committee for category B. They also say both categories are reviewed from time to time with the agency that recommended the name. An appeal is a second chance, but a reply now is cheaper and faster.

If you are offloaded at an airport and do not know why, the FIA document checklist for avoiding offloading explains what immigration looks at. For a delay or a complaint about DGI&P, filing a passport complaint with the DGI&P helpline, Citizen Portal or ombudsman lists the routes.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the DGI&P Show Cause Notices page and the notice of 6 October 2026 on 12 October 2026. We read the Passport Rules, 2021 on the same day. The notice is a scanned document, so check the file itself for names and dates. Names are deliberately not repeated here.
