To check a case in the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court, open gbcc.gov.pk, go to Case Search, pick the case category, then type the case number and year, or search by party name. The daily cause list is on the same site, for the Gilgit, Skardu and Diamer registries, with a PDF download.

Both tools sit under the court's Case Flow Management System, which the website calls CFMS. We went through each part of it on 31 October 2026. Below you will find the 15 case categories the search accepts, how to read the result, how to get the cause list for your registry, and the phone numbers to call when the website does not show your case.

GB Chief Court case status: search by number, party or old case

The Case Search page has three modes: by case number, by title or party, and for archived or old cases. For a number search you choose the case category, type the number and add the year. The result lists your case's bench, hearings and status.

  1. Open gbcc.gov.pk and click Case Search under the CFMS section.
  2. Pick "Search By Case Number", "Search By Title / Party" or "Search Archived / Old Cases".
  3. For a number search, choose the category from the "Case Category" list, such as Writ Petition (W.P) or Criminal Appeal.
  4. Type the case number and the case year exactly as on your papers.
  5. For a party search, type a name in "Case Title or Party Name". Use one distinctive name, not the full title.
  6. Read the result under "Case History & Hearing Records". Press Clear to start again.
Steps to check a Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court case status on gbcc.gov.pk

The result table has seven columns: serial number, case title or parties, case number, the bench hearing it, the date of institution, hearing details and status. The status column is the one that tells you whether the case is pending or decided.

The search accepts 15 case categories

Choose the right category first, or a correct number will return nothing. The list covers writs, civil and criminal appeals and revisions, murder references, election petitions, contempt, and diary numbers for cases not yet given a regular number.

Category on the siteWhat it usually is
Writ Petition (W.P)A petition against a government body or official
Criminal Miscellaneous (Crl. Misc)Bail and other criminal applications
Civil Revision (CR)A challenge to a lower civil court order
Civil First Appeal (C.F.A)A first appeal in a civil case
Civil Second Appeal (C.S.A)A second appeal in a civil case
Criminal Appeal (Crl. Appeal)An appeal against a conviction or acquittal
Criminal Revision (Crl. Rev)A challenge to a lower criminal court order
Murder Reference (M.R)A death sentence sent up for confirmation
Civil Suit (C.S)A suit filed directly in the Chief Court
Election Petition (E.P)An election dispute
Contempt Of Court (C.O.C)Non-compliance with a court order
Civil Miscellaneous (C.M)Applications inside a civil case
Diary NumberA newly filed case not yet numbered
CM Independent ObjectionAn objection raised on a filing
Case Office ObjectionAn office objection on a filing

The plain-English meanings in the second column are ours, to help you pick. If you only have a diary number from the filing counter, search by Diary Number first.

Main case categories in the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court case search

The daily cause list covers Gilgit, Skardu and Diamer

The cause list page lets you choose a registry, a bench and a hearing date. The registries are Gilgit, Skardu and Diamer. Once you pick a date, the site says the list is ready as a PDF download.

Choose "All Benches" if you do not know which judge has your case. The bench list includes the Chief Justice, each sitting judge, the Assistant Registrars at Skardu and Diamer, and the Registrar. Cases before a Registrar or Assistant Registrar are usually procedural dates, not full hearings.

The court's principal seat is in Gilgit. The court's news items record circuit sittings at Skardu, with a roster issued on 4 September 2026, and at Chilas for the Diamer side, with a roster announced on 13 October 2026. Check the cause list the evening before, because bench rosters change.

Lawyers have a separate "Lawyer's CauseList" page that shows the cases pending or decided for each counsel.

Judgments, district courts and appeals

Reported judgments are on the same site under Judgments, for old and new cases. District and sessions courts in Gilgit-Baltistan do not have a public case search on gbcc.gov.pk, so for a lower court case, ask at the court's own copying branch.

The Chief Court works under the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan Order, 2018. Its jurisdiction page cites Articles 86 to 93, including writ powers under Article 86 and supervision of subordinate courts under Article 91. The same page names the Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court as the court above it.

If your matter is in a federal court instead, the court case status tools across Pakistan list each one. For Islamabad, the IHC case status check works the same way.

Call the registry when the website does not show your case

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 31 October 2026. We read the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court website, its Case Search page, its Cause List, Contact Us, Jurisdiction and District Judiciary pages. We did not run a live search with a real case number, so we cannot say how quickly new cases appear. The public complaint cell page returned a server error, and the court's news items on the Diamer registry were cut short, so we could not confirm the Diamer arrangements in full.
