India beat Pakistan 3-2 in the opening Group B match of the SAFF Championship 2026 at the National Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday 5 November. India led 3-0 after 31 minutes. Pakistan scored twice in added time, through Najeeb Ullah in the 91st minute and Alamgir Ghazi in the 94th, but ran out of time.
We read the result in the All India Football Federation's own match report from Dhaka. The federation is the official body for Indian football, so its report is the match record we could open. Pakistan's next game is against the Maldives on Sunday 8 November, and it decides whether they can still reach the semi-finals.
India won 3-2 after leading 3-0 by the 31st minute
India scored three goals in the first 31 minutes and held on after Pakistan's late fightback. Suhail Ahmad Bhat scored twice and Manglenthang Kipgen added the third. Najeeb Ullah and Alamgir Ghazi scored for Pakistan in added time at the end of the match.
Suhail Ahmad Bhat opened the scoring in the 13th minute and doubled India's lead in the 19th. Kipgen made it 3-0 in the 31st minute. That is how the score stayed for almost an hour.
Pakistan did not give up. Najeeb Ullah scored in the first minute of added time, shown as 90+1. Alamgir Ghazi then scored in the fourth minute of added time, 90+4. There was no time left for an equaliser.
| Minute | Team | Scorer | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13 | India | Suhail Ahmad Bhat | 1-0 |
| 19 | India | Suhail Ahmad Bhat | 2-0 |
| 31 | India | Manglenthang Kipgen | 3-0 |
| 90+1 | Pakistan | Najeeb Ullah | 3-1 |
| 90+4 | Pakistan | Alamgir Ghazi | 3-2 |

Pakistan missed a penalty before the late goals
Pakistan had a penalty in the match but did not score it. Hayyaan Khattak was fouled to win it, and Shayak Dost took the kick and missed, the AIFF report says. A goal there would have changed the last minutes completely.
The report also names Yousuf Butt in Pakistan's goal. It credits crosses from Junaid Shah and McKeal Abdullah in Pakistan's attacks. The report does not say how many saves each goalkeeper made, and it does not mention any cards.
The AIFF's report does not give the attendance either. We have not seen an official SAFF match sheet, because the SAFF website's news list showed no match report when we checked on 7 November.
India's assistant coach Naushad Moosa said after the match that conceding two goals in added time was "something we need to look at and learn from". That line is from a second AIFF article, dated 6 November.
Group B has only three teams, so Sunday is a must-win
Group B has India, Pakistan and the Maldives, and the top two reach the semi-finals. India already have three points. Pakistan must get a result against the Maldives on 8 November, because a loss would leave them with no points and no games left.
Each team plays only two group games. India have played one and Pakistan have played one. The Maldives have not played yet. The fixture list on FIFA's calendar shows the order:
- Thursday 5 November: India 3, Pakistan 2 (played).
- Sunday 8 November: Pakistan v Maldives.
- Wednesday 11 November: Maldives v India, at 15:00 India time, which is 2:30 pm in Pakistan.
So the picture is simple. If Pakistan beat the Maldives, they move to three points and wait for India's match. If they draw, they have one point and need help. If they lose, they are out. Our Pakistan vs Maldives preview sets out every case.
| Team | Played | Points | Goals for and against |
|---|---|---|---|
| India | 1 | 3 | 3 for, 2 against |
| Pakistan | 1 | 0 | 2 for, 3 against |
| Maldives | 0 | 0 | None yet |
That table is our own sum from the one result played. SAFF had not published a group table on 7 November.

The semi-finals are on 14 November and the final on 17 November
The two group winners and two runners-up meet in the semi-finals on 14 November. The final is on 17 November. Every match is at the National Stadium in Dhaka, which the AIFF calls the venue for India's games.
Group A has the hosts Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, FIFA's match calendar shows. So a Pakistan semi-final would be against one of those three. SAFF has not yet published which group position meets which, on any page we could open.
India are the defending champions. The tournament was first set to run from 4 to 17 November, with a possible change if Nepal took part. Nepal is not on FIFA's fixture list for this event. The full fixture list is in our SAFF Championship 2026 schedule.
Myco shows the SAFF Championship in Pakistan
SAFF named Myco as the official OTT and broadcast partner in Pakistan in its notice of 30 September 2026. OTT means a streaming app over the internet rather than a TV channel. That is the legal way to watch Pakistan's next match.
Open the Myco app or website before kick-off on Sunday, not at the last minute. Our guide on how to watch the SAFF Championship on Myco has the steps. Do not install a stream from a link in a comment or a forward. Those links often carry adverts or malware.
Pakistan's 2026 results so far are mixed. They won three friendlies in June but lost to Myanmar in March and won none of their three FIFA ASEAN Cup games. Our page on Pakistan football results in 2026 lists every match.
