iOS 27 in Pakistan: What's New and What Works Here
iOS 27 is out with Siri AI, AI photo tools and faster apps. See which features Apple lists for Pakistan and which leaks never shipped.
iOS 27 is out. Apple released it on 14 September 2026. The big change is Siri AI, a new, chat-style Siri. It also brings AI photo editing, faster app launches and new parental controls. Siri AI works in English and Apple does not exclude Pakistan, but Messages via satellite and Apple Pay still do not work here.
We first wrote this page in April 2026, before Apple had shown iOS 27. It was based on leaks, and much of it turned out wrong. On 28 September 2026 we read Apple's iOS 27 page, its Newsroom releases and its feature availability page, and rewrote the page from those. The correction is explained in full near the end.

Siri AI is the headline feature of iOS 27
Siri AI is a new version of Siri built on Apple Intelligence, Apple's name for its AI features. You can talk or type to it in normal sentences. It is in beta, which means a test version, and it started in English on 14 September. Apple says French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish follow in October.
From Apple's iOS 27 page and its Newsroom release, Siri AI can:
- Hold a back and forth conversation and answer follow-up questions.
- Search your own messages, emails, photos and notes when you ask.
- Act on what is on your screen, such as adding dates from a web page to your calendar.
- Take actions in apps, including WhatsApp, according to Apple's release.
- Write a draft for you, or suggest changes to what you wrote.
There is also a new Siri app that keeps your past conversations. Siri mode in the Camera app lets you point the phone at something and ask about it.
Two limits matter. First, Siri AI needs an Apple Intelligence iPhone: the iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 or newer. An iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 gets iOS 27 but not Siri AI. Second, Apple says server based features, including Siri AI, have daily usage limits, and that more access "will be available for a fee in the future". Apple has not said what that fee is.
Photos, Safari and everyday apps get new AI tools
Beyond Siri, iOS 27 adds AI tools to apps you already use. Photos gets Spatial Reframing, which changes a photo's framing after you take it, an Extend tool and a stronger Clean Up for removing objects. Safari can group your tabs into topics and alert you when a page changes.
The other main additions Apple lists are these:
- Image Playground: makes images from a text description, now including photo-like images. Usage limits apply.
- Call Context: shows useful details, such as a booking code from Mail, when you call a business.
- Passwords: warns about weak passwords and can change them for you.
- Accessibility: captions for any video, which can also be translated, and richer VoiceOver descriptions.
- Shared Albums: friends on Android or Windows can add photos through iCloud.com.
Apple says "Describe a shortcut", where you explain a task in words and Shortcuts builds it, is coming in a later update. It is not in iOS 27 at launch.
Speed, design and child safety changes reach every iOS 27 iPhone
These changes do not need an AI iPhone, so an iPhone 11 gets them too. Apple says apps launch up to 30 percent faster, new photos load up to 70 percent faster and AirDrop is up to 80 percent faster. The design gets a slider for how clear or tinted Liquid Glass looks.
The 30 percent figure is useful for Pakistani readers with older phones. Apple's footnote says it tested app launches on an iPhone 11 Pro Max, comparing iOS 26.6 with iOS 27. The photo test used an iPhone 15 and the AirDrop test an iPhone 16 Plus. These are Apple's own tests. We have not measured them ourselves.
For parents, iOS 27 adds a new setup for a child's iPhone. Parents can pick exactly which apps a child can use. A feature called Ask to Browse makes a child ask before opening a new website. Screen Time is redesigned, with daily time limits for games, entertainment and social media apps.
What works in Pakistan, according to Apple's own list
Apple's feature availability page says Siri AI is "Available in English" and not available in China mainland or the European Union. Pakistan is not excluded. Messages via satellite covers only Canada, Japan, Mexico and the US. Apple Pay still does not list Pakistan.
We checked each feature Pakistani users ask about on that page on 28 September 2026:

Urdu is not one of Apple Intelligence's languages, so AI features need the phone and Siri set to English. We have not tested Siri AI on a Pakistani Apple Account, so read the first row as Apple's listing, not our result.
What was predicted before launch and did not ship
Our April version repeated pre-launch leaks. Some were right: a smarter Siri, faster performance and a foldable iPhone. Most satellite predictions were wrong. Apple's iOS 27 page does not mention any new satellite feature, and satellite messaging stays limited to four countries.

The foldable is real. Apple announced the iPhone Duo on 9 September 2026 with a 7.6-inch inner screen. Apple's release says it comes with iOS 27.1, with pre-orders from 16 October in the first countries. Apple's release does not name Pakistan among the first countries it lists. The iPhone Duo price in Pakistan will depend on the local launch and PTA tax.
How to get iOS 27 on your iPhone
The update is free and comes over Wi-Fi. Back up first, then open Settings, General, Software Update. Turn off any VPN, because Apple says a VPN can stop the phone reaching its update servers.
- Back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer.
- Plug in the charger and connect to Wi-Fi.
- Turn off any VPN or proxy.
- Open Settings, General, Software Update.
- Tap Download and Install.
Updating does not change your phone's IMEI number, so it does not change its PTA status. You can check your IMEI and PTA status before or after the update. An unregistered iPhone stays blocked on local SIMs until you register the phone with PTA.
Common questions
When was iOS 27 released?
On 14 September 2026. Apple's Newsroom release gives that date.
Does Siri AI work in Pakistan?
Apple's page does not exclude Pakistan. Siri AI needs English, and an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max or iPhone 16 or newer. We have not tested it on a Pakistani account.
Can I send messages by satellite from Pakistan with iOS 27?
No. Apple lists Messages via satellite only for Canada, Japan, Mexico and the US.
Is the iPhone Fold the same as the iPhone Duo?
Yes, in effect. Leaks called Apple's foldable the "iPhone Fold". Apple launched it as the iPhone Duo on 9 September 2026.
Will my iPhone 11 get Siri AI?
No. The iPhone 11 gets iOS 27, including the speed and design changes, but Siri AI needs an Apple Intelligence iPhone.
Correction and what changed on this page
This page was rewritten on 28 September 2026. The April 2026 version said iOS 27 might drop older iPhones, called the foldable the iPhone Fold, predicted five satellite features that did not ship and expected a June release. We replaced those claims with what Apple's own pages say today.
