Islamabad's feeder and electric bus network runs on 22 route numbers that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) publishes on its transit map page, from FR-01 to ST-02. The two busiest, FRG-1 (PIMS to Barakahu) and FRB-01 (PIMS to Gulberg), run about every 5 minutes, while most other routes come every 10 to 60 minutes. Below is every route with its two ends, how often the bus comes, and when the first and last trips leave, as CDA's own timetable files show them.

We read CDA's transit map page and opened the timetable PDF behind each route on 25 October 2026. Those files list every stop and every trip time. They also contain a few mismatches with the route list itself, and we point those out route by route, so you are not caught waiting at the wrong stop.

CDA lists 22 bus routes, from FR-01 to ST-02

CDA's transit map page names 22 routes. Twenty start with FR (feeder route), one with FRB and one with FRG, and two with ST, which run only for leisure trips to Daman-e-Koh and Shakarparian. Each route runs in both directions.

The table below gives each route as CDA names it, and how often a bus comes. The "how often" column is CDA's headway, which means the gap between two buses on the same route.

Busiest Islamabad CDA bus routes FRG-1, FRB-01, FR-04 and FR-07 with how often buses come

FRG-1 and FRB-01 are the busiest routes, with about 196 trips a day

CDA's timetable files give FRG-1 (PIMS to Barakahu) 196 trips a day in one direction and FRB-01 (PIMS to Gulberg) 196 as well. Both start at 5:45 am. FR-04, FR-07 and FR-03A follow with about 90 to 97 trips each.

FRG-1 runs PIMS, Children Hospital, TNT, CDA, Abpara, Foreign Affairs Office, Lake View Park, Malpur, Shahdara and Barakahu. FRB-01 runs from PIMS through H-8, I-8, Sohan, Dhok Kala Khan, Iqbal Town, Kuri Road and Khanna Pul to Gulberg. If you live along either line, you rarely need a timetable at all.

FR-04 is the useful one for the Secretariat area. It goes from PIMS through Sitara Market, G-6, Melody, Abpara, NADRA Chowk, the Foreign Office, Radio Pakistan and the Diplomatic Enclave's Gate 4 to Bari Imam, a run of about 55 minutes. FR-07 links PIMS with G-8, G-9, G-10, G-11, Mehrabad and NUST to Police Foundation Metro Station in about 47 minutes.

Trips per day on Islamabad bus routes from CDA timetable files

Most buses start at 6 am and the last trip leaves around 10 pm

Nearly every city route in CDA's files starts at 6:00 am and has its last trip leaving at about 10:00 pm. FRG-1 and FRB-01 start earlier, at 5:45 am. Routes that leave Islamabad stop earlier: FR-12 and FR-13 run their last outbound trip at 6:00 pm.

The two ST routes are different. ST-01 to Daman-e-Koh and ST-02 via Shakarparian run once an hour from 9:10 am, with the last bus leaving PIMS at 5:10 pm. The route table's own schedule code marks both as Saturday and Sunday services, so do not plan a weekday trip on them.

FR-04 PIMS to Bari Imam6:00 am10:00 pm97About 55 minutes

FR-10 Golra Morh to Taxila6:00 am9:00 pm19About 75 minutes
ST-01 PIMS to Daman-e-Koh9:10 am5:10 pm9About 40 minutes

The outer routes to Taxila, Wah, Hassan Abdal and Fateh Jang come only once an hour, and FR-10 is the one that actually reaches Taxila. The weekend routes ST-01 and ST-02 suit a family day out at Faisal Masjid, Daman-e-Koh or Shakarparian, but not a weekday commute.

How to find your stop and bus time on CDA's site

CDA's transit map page has a "View Details" link beside each route and direction. Each link opens a PDF with every stop and the arrival time of every trip. It takes about a minute to find your bus.

  1. Open CDA's transit map page at cda.gov.pk/public/cdaTransitMap.
  2. Find your route number in the list, for example FR-07.
  3. Pick the direction you need. "Forward" and "Backward" files cover the two ways.
  4. Open the PDF and find your stop name in the first column.
  5. Read across to the arrival time for the trip closest to when you want to leave.
  6. Reach the stop five minutes early, because traffic shifts every time.
Steps to find an Islamabad CDA bus route and timing

Some CDA timetable files do not match the route list

Three routes have files that disagree with the list on the same page. FR-05 is the biggest: the list calls it Golra Morh to Taxila every 5 minutes, but its timetable file runs NUST Metro Station to D-12 in about 30 minutes and never reaches Taxila.

FR-03A is listed as PIMS to Saidpur Village every 20 minutes. Its file is titled PIMS Hospital to Faisal Masjid, runs every 10 minutes, and ends at Flower Market after Kohsar Road. Saidpur Village does not appear among its stops.

FR-08A is listed at one bus every 20 minutes, but its file shows 209 trips at an average gap of 5 minutes. We cannot tell which version is current, so ask the conductor on your first ride. CDA's page also carries a second set of start and end hours in its code that differ from some PDFs, for example 8:00 am to 7:00 pm for FRB-01 and FRG-1.

Fares are not printed on CDA's route page

CDA's transit page and the PDFs we opened list stops and times only. Neither shows a fare, and we did not find one on any CDA page. So we cannot give you a fare figure here, and you should not trust one that is not from the operator.

The Rawalpindi Islamabad Metro Bus is a separate system run by the Punjab Masstransit Authority, with its own fare and hours. If you need a taxi for the last stretch instead, you can check an Islamabad taxi driver on the police app first.

Common questions

Which Islamabad bus goes from PIMS to Barakahu?

Route FRG-1. CDA's timetable shows it every 5 minutes from 5:45 am, via TNT, CDA, Abpara, Lake View Park, Malpur and Shahdara.

Which bus goes to Faisal Masjid?

FR-03A's timetable file runs from PIMS Hospital via F-8 Markaz, F-9 Park and Shaheen Chowk to Faisal Masjid, every 10 minutes. On weekends, ST-01 also stops there on its way to Daman-e-Koh.

Do Islamabad's electric buses run on Sunday?

The route table's schedule code marks the FR routes as Monday to Sunday services. The two ST routes run on Saturday and Sunday only. The Diplomatic Enclave shuttle is marked Monday to Friday.

What is the fare on Islamabad's feeder buses?

CDA does not print a fare on its route page or timetable files. We could not confirm one from an official source, so check with the conductor before you board.

Who do I call about an Islamabad bus?

CDA's page gives its head office number, 051-9252573, and contactus@cda.gov.pk. For road problems on the route, the ITP helpline 1915 handles traffic.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read CDA's transit map of Islamabad page on 25 October 2026 and opened the forward timetable PDF for all 21 routes that have one, plus the backward files for FR-03A, FR-05, FR-10, FR-12, FR-13, ST-01 and ST-02. Trip counts, first and last trips and end-to-end times are read from those files; run times are rounded. We could not confirm the fare, which buses on each route are electric, or which of CDA's two sets of hours is current. FR-04B has no timetable file.
