The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) helpline is 1915, open round the clock for traffic complaints, roadside help and accident reports, and ITP FM 92.4 broadcasts live traffic updates across Islamabad. For a crime or an injury on the road, call 15 instead. Below is every official ITP and Islamabad Police number, what each one is for, and what to do when a road is closed or the line does not pick up.

We read the Islamabad Police website, its ITP division page and its contact page on 24 October 2026, the day ITP closed two roads into Kashmir Chowk for the weekend. Most people only need one number. But the right number depends on what has gone wrong, and calling the wrong one wastes the first ten minutes.

1915 is the Islamabad Traffic Police helpline for complaints and help

The ITP helpline, 1915, is a round-the-clock complaint and assistance line, the Islamabad Police website says. Call it to report a traffic violation, ask for roadside help, report a jam or a blocked road, or get a follow-up on action taken.

Dial 1915 from any mobile network in Islamabad. It is a short code, so there is no area code to add. ITP says the line follows up on action taken, so note the time of your call and anything the operator tells you. If you are reporting a car, give the registration number, the road and the direction of travel.

Islamabad Police list four short codes: 15 for emergencies, 1715 for the IGP complaint cell, 1815 for the online women's helpline and 1915 for traffic. The Chief Traffic Officer's office is on 051-9260072, and the general inquiry line is 051-9259370.

The 1715 line is not a traffic line. Use it if you want to complain about how a police officer behaved. For a written complaint about a police matter, Islamabad Police also run an online complaint system on the same website.

Tune to ITP FM 92.4 for road closures and diversions

ITP runs its own radio station, FM 92.4, which broadcasts live traffic updates, advisories and safety messages across Islamabad. ITP says it was the first police force in Pakistan with its own FM station. Turn it on before you set off when roads are closed.

Radio is the easiest way to hear about a closure while you are driving, because you should not be reading your phone at the wheel. On a weekend like 24 and 25 October 2026, when ITP closed the roads from Rawal Dam Chowk and Serena Hotel to Kashmir Chowk, the diversion routes are exactly what the station is for.

How to report a jam, accident or road closure in Islamabad

For a jam, a breakdown blocking a lane, or a closed road with no signs, call 1915. For a crash with injuries, call 15 first and then 1122 for an ambulance. Give the road name, nearest sector or landmark, direction of travel and the number of vehicles involved.

  1. Get yourself and your passengers off the carriageway if it is safe. Switch on hazard lights.
  2. If anyone is hurt, call 15 for police and 1122 for an ambulance. Do not move injured people unless there is a fire or other danger.
  3. If no one is hurt, call 1915 and say where you are: road, sector or landmark, and direction.
  4. Give vehicle numbers and a short description. ITP says it supports accident investigation and on-site evidence recording.
  5. Ask for help with a tow if your car cannot move. ITP lists breakdown and recovery coordination among its services.
  6. Note the time of the call and the operator's reply, so you can follow up on 1915 later.

Islamabad's cameras are linked to Safe City, so violations are usually issued as e-challans rather than on the spot. If you get one, you can check and pay an Islamabad e-challan online.

When 1915 does not pick up, use these routes instead

If 1915 is busy, call the Chief Traffic Officer's office on 051-9260072 during office hours, or the general inquiry line on 051-9259370. For a written complaint, use Islamabad Police's online feedback and complaint channels. For an emergency, never wait: call 15.

Most failed calls happen at rush hour or during a big closure, when everyone rings at once. Try again after a few minutes, or switch to the radio for route news. And remember which force runs which road. ITP covers roads inside Islamabad. The motorways, including the M-1 and M-2 beyond the city, belong to the Motorway Police, whose helpline is 130.

For licence work, ITP runs counters at Police Khidmat Markaz offices. The F-6 and Cascade centres are listed as open 24 hours, and the website lists the services at each.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

Last checked 24 October 2026. The 1915, 15, 1715 and 1815 numbers, the general inquiry line, the email and the Police Khidmat Markaz hours come from the Islamabad Police contact page and homepage. The FM 92.4 station, the Chief Traffic Officer's number and the list of ITP services come from the ITP division page, both read on 24 October 2026. The 1122 rescue number is the standard national rescue line. We did not place test calls to 1915 or 051-9260072, so we cannot report answer times.
