The CDA bus from Islamabad to Taxila is route FR-10. It leaves Golra Morh at 6:00 am, runs about once an hour until 9:00 pm, and reaches Taxila in about 75 minutes, via NUST, G-11, F-11, D-12, Sangjani and the B-17 gates. From Taxila, route FR-12 carries on through Wah Cantt to Hassan Abdal, and route FR-13 runs from Golra Morh to Fateh Jang.

We read the Capital Development Authority's (CDA) transit map page and opened the timetable PDF for each of these routes on 25 October 2026. Below are the departure times both ways, the stops that matter, and one route listed as going to Taxila that, in CDA's own timetable, does not.

Three CDA routes leave Islamabad for Taxila, Wah and Fateh Jang

FR-10 runs Golra Morh to Taxila, FR-12 runs Taxila to Hassan Abdal through Wah, and FR-13 runs Golra Morh Metro Station to Fateh Jang. All three come about once an hour, so check the times before you walk to the stop.

FR-13Golra Morh Metro Station to Fateh Jang136:00 am to 6:00 pmAbout 70 minutes

These are three of the 22 routes CDA lists. Inside the city the buses come far more often, with PIMS to Barakahu every 5 minutes, so the hourly gap is only a problem on these outer routes.

CDA bus routes from Islamabad to Taxila, Hassan Abdal and Fateh Jang with travel times

FR-10 to Taxila leaves Golra Morh at 6:00 am and then about every hour

CDA's FR-10 timetable has 19 trips out of Islamabad. The first five leave at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00 am. After that the bus leaves on the hour from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, with one extra trip at 12:30 pm.

Coming back, FR-10 leaves Taxila at 7:45 am and then every hour at quarter to, with the last bus at 9:45 pm. That is 15 return trips, so the morning gap is the one to watch: there is nothing from Taxila before 7:45 am.

D-12 Markaz6:40 am
Sangjani6:57 am
B-17 Gate No. 17:00 am
Taxila Bypass7:07 am
Taxila7:15 am

Later buses keep the same spacing, so add the gap to the departure time. A bus that leaves Golra Morh at 10:00 am should reach Sangjani at about 10:57 am. Traffic at the D-12 and Sangjani end can stretch that.

FR-12 goes on from Taxila through Wah Cantt to Hassan Abdal

FR-12 leaves Taxila Chowk every hour from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and reaches Tipu Sultan Shaheed Chowk in Hassan Abdal about 41 minutes later. The return leaves Hassan Abdal every hour from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Its stops cover most of Wah: University of Wah (2 minutes from Taxila Chowk), Wah Cantt Barrier No. 2, Jinnah Colony, New City Phase 1 and 2, Wah Model Town, Swedish College, Wah Cantt Barrier 3 and Wah Gardens, then WAPDA Colony and Hassan Abdal. Students at the University of Wah can use the 7:00 am bus to arrive by about 7:02 am.

To go from Islamabad to Wah by CDA bus, you change at Taxila. The first FR-10 reaches Taxila at 7:15 am. The FR-12 timetable shows the next bus from Taxila Chowk at 8:00 am. CDA names the two stops "Taxila" and "Taxila Chowk", and its files do not say whether they are the same spot, so allow a short walk.

FR-13 runs from Golra Morh Metro Station to Fateh Jang in about 70 minutes

FR-13 leaves Golra Morh Metro Station every hour from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, 13 trips in all. It reaches Fateh Jang about 70 minutes later. The return leaves Fateh Jang every hour from 7:15 am to 7:15 pm.

The route serves the new housing areas west of the airport. Its stops include N-5 Metro Station, G-15, G-16, Top City, Mumtaz City, Airport Enclave, Madni Chowk, Dhuma, Mohri Patak, the Mangial stops, Qutbal, Hattar, Garhi Hasu Khan and Akram City. On the first trip, Airport Enclave comes at 6:20 am and Hattar at 6:58 am.

FR-05 is listed as Golra Morh to Taxila, but its timetable stops at D-12

Do not wait for FR-05 to take you to Taxila. CDA's route list calls it Golra Morh to Taxila every 5 minutes. Its timetable file, though, runs from NUST Metro Station through G-10, G-11, E-11 and Islamabad International Hospital to D-12 in about 30 minutes, and never leaves Islamabad.

We cannot tell from CDA's pages which is correct today. Until CDA fixes one or the other, treat FR-10 as the Taxila bus and FR-05 as a frequent NUST to D-12 shuttle.

How to plan the trip so you do not miss the hourly bus

With buses an hour apart, missing one costs you an hour. A little planning on CDA's own files avoids that.

  1. Open CDA's transit map page and find FR-10, FR-12 or FR-13.
  2. Open the "Forward" file for the trip out, or "Backward" for the trip home.
  3. Find your stop and note the arrival time of the trip you want.
  4. For Wah or Hassan Abdal, add the FR-12 departure that follows your FR-10 arrival at Taxila.
  5. Note the last bus back: 9:45 pm from Taxila, 7:00 pm from Hassan Abdal, 7:15 pm from Fateh Jang.

CDA does not print fares on these files, and we could not confirm a fare from an official page. Ask the conductor before you board. CDA's files call the starting point Golra Morh Metro Station, but the Metro Bus fare is set by a different authority and does not cover CDA's buses. If you would rather take the train to Taxila, the Pakistan Railways timings search covers Rawalpindi departures.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read CDA's transit map of Islamabad on 25 October 2026 and opened the forward and backward timetable PDFs for FR-05, FR-10, FR-12 and FR-13, including the FR-10 forward file. Stop times are from the first trip of each file and rounded to the minute. We could not confirm fares, whether "Taxila" and "Taxila Chowk" are the same stop, or which version of FR-05 is current.
