How to Check Pakistan Railways Train Timings, With 10 Popular Trains

To check a Pakistan Railways train timing, search your two stations and date at pakrailways.gov.pk or in the Rabta app. Every train on the route shows its departure time, arrival time and journey length, with no login. For a train that is already running late, call 117.

We ran the official search on 27 September 2026 for Monday 5 October 2026, on 36 station pairs. The timetable below is what it returned. We also looked for an official live tracking service and did not find one that works, which is the part most people get wrong.

Check any train timing in the Rabta search

Rabta is the Pakistan Railways booking app and website. Its search shows each train's scheduled departure and arrival at your chosen stations, the journey time and seat availability. You do not need an account to search, only to buy a ticket.

1. Open pakrailways.gov.pk in a browser, or the Rabta app from the Play Store or Huawei AppGallery. Google Play lists Rabta as "officially authorized by Pakistan Railways".
2. Pick your "From" and "To" stations. Choose the exact station, because Karachi Cantt and Karachi City, or Lahore Junction and Lahore Cantt, are separate.
3. Pick your travel date. Trains only appear once booking for that date has opened, so a date three weeks away may show nothing.
4. Tap search. Each train card shows its name, number, departure time at your station, arrival time and total duration.
5. Note the arrival day as well as the time. A Karachi to Lahore train leaving at 17:30 arrives the next afternoon.

The times are for your boarding station, not the train's starting point. Tezgam leaves Rawalpindi at 08:00 but reaches Lahore at 13:15, so a Lahore search shows its 13:45 departure. The same search also shows fares, and paying for a seat is covered in booking train tickets online.

Pakistan Railways' own site, pakrail.gov.pk, has a "Train Timings" link. It points to the same Rabta website. The timetable list behind that page refused our request without a login, while the station search worked. So use the search.

Train timings for 10 popular trains

These are the scheduled times Rabta returned for Monday 5 October 2026, from each train's first main station. Green Line is the fastest Karachi to Lahore train at 16 hours 35 minutes. Jaffar Express runs Quetta to Peshawar in about 34 hours.

The return trains keep different hours. Green Line (6DN) leaves Rawalpindi at 15:40 and reaches Karachi Cantt at 13:50 the next day. Tezgam (8DN) leaves Rawalpindi at 08:00. Karachi Express (16DN) leaves Lahore at 18:00, and Khyber Mail (2DN) leaves Peshawar Cantt at 22:00. Jaffar Express (40DN) leaves Peshawar Cantt at 06:00 and reaches Quetta at 15:40 the next day.

Lahore to Rawalpindi trains run all day

Nine trains ran from Lahore to Rawalpindi on 5 October, from Rawal Express at 00:30 to Khyber Mail at 21:00. The fastest took 4 hours 15 minutes. Four of them are short intercity trains that start in Lahore.

Awam Express, Jaffar Express, Tezgam and Khyber Mail also stop at both cities. They start far away, so a delay earlier in the journey reaches Lahore with them. Intercity trains that start in Lahore are the safer bet if you have an appointment.

We could not find Kohistan Express in any of the 36 searches we ran. It did not appear on any route from Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi or Peshawar. If you are looking for it, call 117 and ask whether it still runs before going to the station.

No official live train tracking service works right now

We found no working live location service from Pakistan Railways. Rabta shows scheduled times only, and pakrail.gov.pk has no tracking page. For a train that is already running, call 117, the call centre number the Rabta system itself publishes.

The search results carry a "delay minutes" field for each station. On every train we checked, it was empty. So the search tells you when a train should arrive, not where it is now.

Google Play's description of Rabta lists booking, cancellation, payment and order inquiry. It does not mention tracking. Several other apps on the Play Store claim to show live Pakistani trains. None of them is run by Pakistan Railways, so treat their location as a guess, not a timetable.

If your train is badly late, keep your ticket. Rabta's own messages refer to a refund reason for a train delayed more than six hours, and the train ticket refund rules set how much comes back. For e-ticketing complaints, pakrail.gov.pk lists 042-99070011.

Timings change, so check again before you leave

The timetable above is for Monday 5 October 2026. Pakistan Railways changes times for track work and special events. Run the search for your own date the day before, and again on the morning of travel.

The search also only looks a short way ahead. On 27 September, all nine Lahore to Rawalpindi trains appeared for dates up to 10 October. For 12 October there were eight, for 15 October only four long-distance trains, and for 17 October none. The same trains ran on earlier dates, so the likely reason is that booking for those days had not opened yet.

We saw this in Rabta's own notice list. A July 2025 notice from the Lahore divisional office moved several trains to Shahdara, Kot Lakhpat and Lahore Cantt for one day. If the price matters as much as the time, the current Pakistan Railways fares for the same trains are listed by class.

Why does the search show no trains for my date?

We ran the station search used by the Rabta website at pakrailways.gov.pk on 27 September 2026, for travel on Monday 5 October 2026, across 36 station pairs including Karachi Cantt, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar Cantt, Quetta, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Multan and Kohat Cantt. We repeated Lahore to Rawalpindi for dates from 8 October to 24 December to see how far ahead trains appear. We read the call centre number from the same system's settings, and its notice list. We read pakrail.gov.pk's homepage and contact page, and Rabta's Google Play listing. We found no official live tracking service. Times change, so check your own date before you travel.
