Islamic Holidays 2027 in Pakistan: Expected Ramadan, Eid and Ashura Dates
Expected 2027 dates in Pakistan for Ramadan, Eid ul Fitr, Eid ul Adha, Ashura and Eid Milad un Nabi, worked out from new moon times. See which may shift.
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start in Pakistan on Monday 8 February or Tuesday 9 February. Eid ul Fitr is likely on Wednesday 10 March, Eid ul Adha on Monday 17 May, Ashura on 15 or 16 June, and Eid Milad un Nabi on Sunday 15 August 2027.
These are estimates, not holidays. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has not yet published its moon calendar for 2027, and the Cabinet Division has not issued the 2027 holiday list. Final dates come only after the moon is sighted and the government notifies them.
We checked PMD's lunar calendar page on 29 September 2026. It lists expected Islamic month dates for 2025 and 2026 only. PMD's 2026 table runs up to Rajab 1448, which it expects to begin on 11 December 2026. So for 2027, we worked out the new moon times ourselves with the standard astronomical formula, and tested it against PMD's own figures first.
Expected Islamic holiday dates in Pakistan for 2027
Based on new moon times, the five moon-based holidays of 2027 in Pakistan should fall in February, March, May, June and August. Each date below can move by one day, because Pakistan starts a month only after the new moon is seen.

Two of these sit close to other holidays. Eid Milad un Nabi is likely on the day after Independence Day, which falls on Saturday 14 August 2027. And Ashura usually gets two days off, for 9 and 10 Muharram, so the likely break is 14 and 15 June or 15 and 16 June.
If you are planning leave, a wedding or a trip home, book around the full range, not the single expected date. That is the honest way to use a lunar estimate.
PMD has not published its 2027 moon calendar yet
PMD's lunar calendar page offers files for 2025 and 2026 only. The 2026 file stops at Rajab 1448, so it covers none of the 2027 holidays. Nothing on PMD's site gives an official expected date for Ramadan or either Eid in 2027 yet.
We tried the obvious address for a 2027 file on PMD's server, in the same pattern as the 2026 one. It returned "not found". PMD's moon coordinates page, which gives sighting data month by month, had reached Rabi us Sani 1448 when we checked.
The Cabinet Division's holiday page has no 2027 list either. Its 2026 list was issued on 19 January 2026, so the 2027 list may not come before the year starts. We will update this page when either body publishes.
So treat any website or social post that gives exact 2027 dates "confirmed" as guesswork. Nobody official has confirmed anything.
How we worked out the 2027 dates
We used the standard astronomical method for new moon times, then checked it against PMD's published 2026 figures. It matched all four of PMD's remaining 2026 new moon times to the minute, so we used the same method to find each 2027 new moon.
A new moon, or conjunction, is the moment the moon passes between the earth and the sun. The moon cannot be seen then. It becomes a thin crescent in the evening sky only after it is several hours old, usually about 20 hours or more.
PMD's 2026 table gives these conjunction times in Pakistan time: 11 September at 08:27, 10 October at 20:50, 9 November at 12:02 and 9 December at 05:52. Our calculation gave exactly the same four times.
- We found the new moon time before each holiday month in 2027.
- We worked out the moon's age at sunset on the following evenings.
- We took the first evening when the crescent is old enough to be seen.
- We counted the month from the next day, as Pakistan does.
- We added the days to reach each holiday, such as 10 days for Eid ul Adha.
This method gives the most likely date. It cannot promise it. Weather, haze and the committee's judgement all play a part.
New moon times behind each 2027 holiday
The new moon before Ramadan 2027 comes on Saturday 6 February at about 20:56 Pakistan time. The moons before Eid ul Fitr, Eid ul Adha and Eid Milad un Nabi arrive in daytime, which makes those three dates firmer than Ramadan and Ashura.

"Borderline" means the crescent will be young and low on the first evening. It may be seen in clear skies, or it may not. That is why Ramadan and Ashura each have two real possibilities.
Eid ul Fitr has an extra safety net. If Ramadan starts on 8 February, the month reaches 30 days on 9 March, so Eid is 10 March whatever happens. Only a 9 February start and a cloudy evening on 9 March would push Eid to 11 March.
Final dates depend on moon sighting and the Cabinet Division
An estimate becomes a holiday in two steps. First, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets on the 29th evening of the month and announces whether the moon was seen. Then the Cabinet Division notifies the public holidays for federal offices, and provinces follow with their own notices.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is the government body that collects moon sighting reports from across Pakistan. PMD supports it with sky data. When the moon is not seen on the 29th evening, the month runs to 30 days.
2026 showed why the gap matters. The Cabinet Division's January list gave Ashura as 24 and 25 June, but the public holidays in Pakistan for 2026 ended up on 25 and 26 June after sighting. Eid Milad un Nabi moved from 25 to 26 August, as set out in the Eid Milad un Nabi 2026 holiday notice.
PMD's own expected dates held up well in 2026. It expected 1 Muharram on 17 June and 1 Rabi ul Awwal on 15 August, and both final holidays matched those dates.
The number of days off is also decided late. In 2026 the Cabinet Division gave three days for each Eid and two for Ashura. The 2027 split will be in the new list, not before.
Planning around Ramadan and Eid in 2027
Plan Ramadan 2027 from early February and Eid ul Fitr for the second week of March. Keep one spare day on either side of each Eid, and confirm the date only after the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee speaks on the 29th evening.
Office and bank hours change in Ramadan. In 2026 the State Bank set Ramadan bank timings in Pakistan in a press release dated 18 February 2026. Expect a similar notice around 7 or 8 February 2027. The Cabinet Division also listed 1 Ramadan as a bank holiday for Zakat in 2026.
- Travel: buses and flights fill up in the week before each Eid. If you book bus tickets online early, pick one you can change by a day.
- Exams and schools: boards and provinces set their own calendars, often around Ramadan. Check with your board, not a national list.
One more thing. Pakistan's dates often differ by a day from Saudi Arabia's, because Pakistan relies on its own local sighting. Relatives abroad may celebrate a day earlier.
Common questions
When will Ramadan start in Pakistan in 2027?
Most likely on Monday 8 February 2027, or Tuesday 9 February if the moon is not seen on the evening of 7 February. The new moon comes at about 20:56 on 6 February, Pakistan time.
When is Eid ul Fitr 2027 in Pakistan?
Most likely on Wednesday 10 March 2027. Thursday 11 March is possible only if Ramadan starts on 9 February and the moon is hidden on 9 March.
When is Eid ul Adha 2027 in Pakistan?
Most likely on Monday 17 May 2027, with Tuesday 18 May as the alternative. The moon for Dhul Hijjah should be visible on the evening of 7 May.
When is Ashura 2027 in Pakistan?
10 Muharram 1449 is likely on Tuesday 15 June or Wednesday 16 June 2027. With 9 Muharram also a holiday, the break is 14 and 15 June or 15 and 16 June.
Has the government announced the 2027 holidays?
No. When we checked on 29 September 2026, the Cabinet Division had not issued a 2027 list and PMD had not published a 2027 moon calendar.
Why do Islamic holidays move every year?
The Islamic year follows the moon and has 354 or 355 days. That is about 11 days shorter than the solar year, so each holiday comes about 11 days earlier than the year before.
