JazzCash Freelance Digital Account in Pakistan: Free to Open, 5% Fee on Pay via Link
The JazzCash Freelance Digital Account is free, but client payments by pay via link cost 5%, so $200 loses $10. See upgrade times, transfer fees and options.

Short answer: the JazzCash Freelance Digital Account costs nothing to open, but a client payment received through JazzCash's "pay via link" carries a 5% fee. On a $200 job that is $10 gone before the money reaches you. Opening and upgrading are done in the JazzCash app.
Both figures are in Mobilink Microfinance Bank's October to December 2026 schedule of charges for JazzCash, issued on 1 October 2026. We read it and JazzCash's freelance account page on 20 October 2026. The schedule lists "Freelance Digital Account" at 0 and "MDR on receiving International Payments through pay via link (Freelance segment)" at 5%.
MDR, or merchant discount rate, is the share the provider keeps from a payment you receive. For a freelancer billing foreign clients, that one line decides whether a JazzCash link is cheap or expensive compared with your other options.
The JazzCash Freelance Digital Account is free to open
JazzCash lists the Freelance Digital Account at Rs 0 in its October to December 2026 schedule. You open it in the JazzCash app by signing up, completing verification and choosing the account purpose that fits you. No branch visit is needed.
JazzCash's page says the account is built for "designers, developers, writers" and other freelancers, to "receive international payments and manage global earnings directly from their JazzCash wallet". Earnings can then be used for transfers, bill payments or withdrawals.
Sign up needs your mobile number, an OTP, your personal details, an MPIN and biometric verification with NADRA. JazzCash says a new account cannot make transactions for the first 2 hours after it is created, as a security measure.

Pay via link costs 5% of each international payment
A foreign client paying you through a JazzCash "pay via link" costs you 5% of the amount. On $200 that is $10, and on $1,000 it is $50. The fee comes off what you receive, so quote clients with it in mind.
On the SBP's revaluation rate of Rs 276.90 to the dollar for 19 October 2026, a $200 payment is about Rs 55,380. Our arithmetic puts the 5% fee at about Rs 2,769. The exact rupee amount depends on the rate JazzCash applies on the day, which the schedule does not state.
| Client payment | 5% pay via link fee | You keep |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | $5 | $95 |
| $200 | $10 | $190 |
| $500 | $25 | $475 |
| $1,000 | $50 | $950 |
The same schedule lists 3% for "pay via link" on a JazzCash Business account, but that line does not say it covers international payments. We could not confirm which rate a freelancer would pay through a business account, so do not assume the lower one.

Upgrading for higher limits takes up to 2 working days
Higher limits need an upgrade in the app. JazzCash says an Asaan Digital Account upgrade is "typically instant", while a full Digital Account upgrade "may take up to 2 working days" after you submit proof of income and it is verified.
The upgrade fees are zero in the schedule: Asaan Digital Account upgrade 0, Upgradation L2 (Digital Account) 0 and Asaan Digital Remittance Account 0. The one cost that may appear is the in-app biometric check, listed at Rs 100. How the account levels work is set out in raising JazzCash transaction limits.
- Open the JazzCash app and sign up with your mobile number and OTP.
- Enter your personal details, set an MPIN and complete biometric verification with NADRA.
- Choose the account purpose for freelance income when the app asks.
- Wait 2 hours before your first transaction, as JazzCash requires.
- Upgrade to a Digital Account with proof of income if you expect larger payments, and allow up to 2 working days.
- Check the fee shown on screen before you share a payment link with a client.
Moving earnings to a bank is free up to Rs 25,000 a month
Once money is in the wallet, sending it to a bank account is free up to Rs 25,000 a month. Transfers after that cost 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower, plus a Rs 1.55 processing fee on each bank transfer.
| What you do with your earnings | JazzCash fee, October to December 2026 |
|---|---|
| Send to another JazzCash wallet | Free |
| Send to a bank account | Free to Rs 25,000 a month, then 0.1% or Rs 200, whichever is lower |
| Cash out at an agent | Rs 7 to Rs 690 by amount, including tax |
| Cash out at an ATM | Rs 35 including tax |
| App platform fee | Rs 1 per transaction |
The schedule also lists the Mastercard physical card annual fee as free for freelancers, merchants, employees and corporate customers. If you take card spending abroad seriously, the limits are in the $30,000 card limit for international payments.
Compare the 5% fee with other ways to get paid
A 5% cut is high for regular work. Freelancers paid often should compare it with a bank's freelancer account, a Payoneer withdrawal or a platform's own payout before sending every client a JazzCash link.
Banks offer a Freelancer Digital Account that can keep part of your earnings in dollars, explained in opening a Freelancer Digital Account. If clients already pay you on Payoneer, linking it to JazzCash is a separate route, covered in linking JazzCash with Payoneer. And for the bigger picture, freelancers in Pakistan brought in $197 million in September 2026 on SBP data, reported in September's freelancer earnings.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read the October to December 2026 JazzCash schedule of charges, Mobilink Microfinance Bank Inst Circular/42/2026 dated 1 October 2026, linked from JazzCash's schedule of charges page, and the JazzCash Freelance Digital Account page on 20 October 2026. The schedule is scanned, so we read it page by page. The dollar rate is the SBP revaluation rate shown on the SBP website for 19 October 2026. We did not open a freelance account or receive a link payment, so the exchange rate JazzCash applies and the in-app fee screens are not verified.
