Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar: OPD Timings, Clinic Days and Sehat Card
Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar OPD runs Monday to Friday, emergency 24 hours. See each clinic's days, the Sehat Card counter, Zakat help and phone numbers.

Short answer: Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) Peshawar runs its OPD Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4pm, its home page says, with a paid evening clinic (IBP) from 3pm to 9pm. Emergency is open 24 hours. Call 091-9224400. KTH treats Sehat Card Plus patients free once admitted.
KTH is on University Road, Peshawar, and is one of the biggest public hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We read kth.edu.pk page by page on 10 October 2026. The hospital's own pages do not all agree on the OPD hours, so we show both versions below.
KTH OPD opens Monday to Friday, and Saturday is closed
The KTH home page and history page list OPD hours as Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4pm. The contact page gives shorter hours: 8am to 2pm from Monday to Wednesday, and 9am to 2pm on Thursday and Friday. Both versions agree that Saturday and Sunday are closed for OPD.
So plan to arrive in the morning. If you come at 3pm and the clinic has closed, the only options are the paid evening clinic or the emergency.
| Service | Home page | Contact page |
|---|---|---|
| OPD, Monday to Wednesday | 8:30am to 4pm | 8am to 2pm |
| OPD, Thursday and Friday | 8:30am to 4pm | 9am to 2pm |
| OPD, Saturday and Sunday | Not listed | Closed |
| IBP evening clinic | 3pm to 9pm, Mon to Fri | Not listed |
| Emergency | 24 hours | 24 hours |
Ward visiting hours are 4:30pm to 6:30pm every day, the KTH FAQ says.

Each specialist clinic runs on set days
KTH publishes a weekly OPD schedule. Big departments like surgery, medicine, children and gynae run every weekday, with a different unit (A, B, C or D) each day. Smaller specialties such as cardiology, neurology and kidney care run only two days a week.
Check the day before you travel, especially from outside Peshawar. Here are the specialist clinics with fixed days:
| Clinic | OPD days |
|---|---|
| Cardiology, nephrology, neurology, endocrinology | Tuesday and Thursday |
| Urology, neurosurgery, rheumatology, chest | Monday and Wednesday |
| Medical oncology (cancer) | Tuesday and Friday |
| Gastroenterology | Monday and Thursday |
| Breast clinic | Tuesday and Friday |
| Plastic surgery | Tuesday and Thursday |
| Children's surgery | Wednesday and Friday |
| Skin | Every weekday except Wednesday |
| Dental and physiotherapy | Daily |

Sehat Card Plus pays for your stay at KTH
KTH is on the Sehat Card Plus panel, so KP families are treated free once admitted. Check eligibility by sending your CNIC number, with no dashes, to 8500. Then go to the Sehat Sahulat counter at the OPD with the documents below.
KTH lists what to bring:
- CNIC of the head of the family.
- CNIC of the patient.
- B-Form, if the patient is a child.
The Sehat Sahulat staff verify your ID and guide you. KTH says the cost of treatment after admission is charged to the card. Covered services it names include cardiology, children's heart care, kidney care, dialysis for chronic kidney disease, cancer treatment and neurosurgery. The full rules are in checking KP Sehat Card Plus eligibility.
Note the word "admitted". OPD visits and tests before admission are not described as card-funded on the KTH page.
The Zakat section covers medicines up to Rs 15,000
Patients who cannot afford medicines can get help from the KTH Zakat section. Its regular fund covers medicines up to Rs 8,000 for OPD patients and up to Rs 15,000 for admitted patients. A special programme helps deserving patients whose treatment the Sehat Card does not cover.
- Get the Zakat application form signed by your Local Zakat Chairman and the District Zakat Officer.
- Bring it to the KTH Zakat section, which checks it on the provincial Zakat system (ZMIS).
- See the doctor. Your hospital record number is entered in the hospital system.
- Collect the medicines from the Fair Price Pharmacy, where the Zakat pharmacist checks them.
Start the form in your home district before the trip. Without the two signatures, the hospital cannot approve it.

KTH emergency sees up to 3,000 patients a day
The KTH Accident and Emergency department runs 24 hours and receives up to 3,000 patients a day, the hospital says. It has a trauma bay, a six bed high dependency unit and a separate children's emergency service with a thalassemia centre.
Lab, X-ray and pharmacy services sit on the emergency floor itself. In an emergency, KTH tells people to bring the patient straight to A&E, not the OPD. Admission can come through either the OPD or the emergency.
For a ride, Edhi and Chhipa ambulance numbers work in Peshawar too.
Call 091-9224400 and ask for the department
The KTH exchange is 091-9224400 to 08. The complaint office is extension 2218, and the OPD manager is extension 2085. The hospital's email is info@kth.edu.pk. Its address is University Road, Peshawar.
Bring old reports, X-rays, any referral letter and a list of allergies to your first visit, as KTH's FAQ asks. At registration you get a medical record card and a slip. Keep both. If a complaint is not settled inside the hospital, the provincial routes are in complaining against a hospital or doctor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
