The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) lists 32 free parking sites across Karachi and 11 charged parking lots, on its own parking page at kmc.gos.pk. The free sites sit mostly outside mobile markets, malls and busy service roads, such as Rashid Minhas Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road and M.A. Jinnah Road. Below is the full list by district, the 11 lots where KMC does charge, and what to do if someone takes money from you at a free site.

We read the KMC parking page on 25 October 2026. KMC does not put a date on the list, so treat it as the latest version KMC has published, not as a promise that every site is still free today.

KMC has 32 free parking sites in five district groups

KMC splits its 32 free sites into five groups: District East has 15, Korangi and Malir have 7, District Central has 5, District South has 3, and District West with Keamari has 2. Most are road stretches outside markets, not walled parking lots.

Bar chart of KMC free parking sites in Karachi by district: East 15, Korangi and Malir 7, Central 5, South 3, West and Keamari 2

District East carries almost half the list. That fits: Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Rashid Minhas Road and University Road hold many of the city's mobile markets and big stores, and that is exactly where KMC has marked parking as free.

KMC still charges at 11 parking lots, mostly in Clifton

KMC lists 11 charged parking lots: one in District East, three in District Central and seven in District South. KMC marks all seven South lots as covered areas, among them Clifton Centre, Sassi Arcade and the Hyper Star Beach View parking.

KMC charged parking lots in Karachi by district: Sindbad Gulshan, three Nazimabad and Hydri lots, and seven Clifton and Polo Ground lots
  • District East: Sindbad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal (boundary wall lot)
  • District Central: the lot in front of A.O. Clinic, Nazimabad; Hydri Market parking lot and the Hydri Sunday motorcycle bazaar; the lot in front of the Nazimabad driving licence branch
  • District South: Clifton Centre, Sassi Arcade, Paradise Centre, Crystal Court, the plot between the Beach View parking, Hyper Star Beach View parking, and Polo Ground on Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road (KMC marks all seven as covered areas)

KMC's page does not show the fee at any of these lots. We could not find a KMC rate list, so we are not quoting one. Ask for a printed KMC receipt before you pay, and check that the amount is written on it.

The free list does not cover private, airport or cantonment parking

KMC's free list covers only roads and lots KMC itself controls. Parking inside malls, hospitals, cantonment areas and private plazas follows the owner's own rules, and airport parking is run separately by the airport.

If you are heading to Jinnah International, the rates there are a different system altogether, and Karachi airport parking charges are set by the airport, not KMC. The same goes for DHA and Clifton Cantonment roads, which KMC does not list at all.

Being free also does not mean you can park anywhere. A car left on a footpath, a bus stop or a second row can still be towed or fined by traffic police, whose rules sit outside KMC's list.

You can report a parking fee taken at a free KMC site

If someone collects money at a site on KMC's free list, note the place, time and the collector's details, then complain to KMC. The city's 1339 complaint system takes KMC complaints, and KMC lists a Director Charge Parking at 021-99216446.

  1. Check the site against the district list above before you argue with anyone.
  2. If you pay to avoid trouble, ask for a receipt. A missing or unofficial receipt is useful evidence.
  3. Take a photo of the spot and note the date and time. Do not photograph anyone in a way that starts a fight.
  4. Log a complaint on the 1339 portal, choosing KMC as the department.
  5. For a repeat problem, call the Director Charge Parking office on 021-99216446 during office hours, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Five steps to report a parking fee charged at a free KMC parking site in Karachi

The 1339 route gives you a complaint number you can follow up. How to file it, step by step, is set out in logging a Karachi complaint on the 1339 portal. The office number comes from KMC's contact diary, which we read on the same day.

How we verified this

What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.

We read KMC's parking page, which lists the free and charged sites, and KMC's contact diary on kmc.gos.pk on 25 October 2026. The district counts are our count of KMC's list. KMC does not date the list or publish fees for the charged lots, so we could not confirm when it was last updated or what each lot costs. We did not visit the sites ourselves.
