We read KMC's hospitals page on 25 October 2026. KMC lists names and addresses only. It does not give phone numbers, OPD timings or fees for each hospital, so check those at the hospital before you travel.

Abbasi Shaheed is the largest name on the general list
For general treatment, KMC lists Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Nazimabad, Landhi Medical Complex, Sarfaraz Rafique Shaheed Hospital near Aram Bagh, Gazdarabad General Hospital in Saddar and the Primary Health Care Centre in Lyari. Pick the one closest to you.
Abbasi Shaheed is the one most Karachi families know, and it sits in Nazimabad No. 7, the same block as the KMC Homeopathic Hospital. People from Korangi and Landhi usually find Landhi Medical Complex at Babar Market nearer. Residents of the old city, Lyari and Saddar have three options close together: Sarfaraz Rafique Shaheed, Gazdarabad and the Lyari health centre.
For a bigger government hospital outside KMC's network, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre is run separately, and its JPMC OPD timings and clinic days are published by the hospital itself.
KMC runs four heart and kidney facilities
KMC lists the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases in F.B. Area, two cardiac emergency centres in Shah Faisal Town and Landhi Town, and the Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases near the Rangers Headquarters. That is four of its 14 entries.

The two cardiac emergency centres are the ones to note for chest pain on the eastern side of the city. One is at Shama Shopping Centre near Shah Faisal Colony No. 2, and the other at Babar Market in Landhi No. 2. KMC does not say whether they open around the clock, so save a nearby alternative as well.
Sobhraj and Gizri are KMC's maternity hospitals
KMC lists two maternity hospitals: Sobhraj Maternity Hospital on Robson Road near Urdu Bazar, and Gizri Maternity Hospital on D Street in Upper Gizri. Spencer Eye Hospital on Siddiq Wahab Road, Lea Market, is KMC's only eye hospital.
For a planned delivery, visit the maternity hospital early in the pregnancy to register and ask what papers they keep. A CNIC copy for the mother and father is the safe minimum to carry, because the hospital record later feeds the child's birth registration.
Call KMC's health directorate when a hospital fails you
KMC lists a Senior Director, Medical and Health Services, on 021-99333132. For a complaint about a KMC hospital, write down the date, ward and staff involved, then log it on the 1339 portal so you have a complaint number.
- Speak to the hospital's medical superintendent's office first, and ask for the name of the person you spoke to.
- If nothing changes, log a complaint on the city's 1339 portal under KMC and keep the number.
- Call KMC's Medical and Health Services office on 021-99333132 during office hours, quoting that number.
- Keep copies of prescriptions, receipts and reports. Do not hand over originals.

How to file through 1339 is covered in logging a Karachi complaint on the 1339 portal. The health office number is from KMC's contact diary.

How we verified this
What we checked, where we read it, and what we could not confirm.
We read KMC's hospitals page and its contact diary on kmc.gos.pk on 25 October 2026. The grouping by type is ours. KMC's "Details" links did not open separate pages for us, so we could not confirm phone numbers, OPD timings, fees or round-the-clock emergency cover at any hospital. We corrected one spelling in an address, "Slaughter", which KMC prints as "Slighter".
