To get missed call alerts on Zong, send SUB to 6226; on Ufone, send Sub to 180. To stop them, send UNSUB to the same number. Zong charges Rs 1.78 plus tax a day and Ufone Rs 3.20 a day including tax on prepaid. Below are both services side by side, what each alert actually tells you, and the days when Ufone switches its service off.

A phone that dies at 4 pm can cost you a job call or a call from a parent. Missed call alert services send you an SMS after the phone comes back on, listing who tried to reach you. We read Zong's Missed Call Alerts page and Ufone's Missed Call Notification page on 24 October 2026.

Zong and Ufone missed call alert codes at a glance

Both networks use one short code to start and stop the service. Zong's code is 6226 and Ufone's is 180. Both are daily subscriptions that keep renewing until you send the stop message. Prices differ, and Ufone's includes tax.

Ufone also takes subscriptions through the U ptcl app, a retailer or a form on its website. When you use the form, Ufone sends a confirmation SMS and you reply Y to complete it.

Zong's service costs about Rs 64 a month, Ufone's about Rs 96

Zong's Rs 1.78 becomes about Rs 2.13 a day once 19.5 per cent sales tax is added, or roughly Rs 64 over 30 days. Ufone's Rs 3.20 already includes tax, which comes to Rs 96 over 30 days.

Both figures are our arithmetic from the prices each network prints. Neither page lists a cheaper monthly plan with a price. Zong has a monthly MCA page, but it shows no amount, so we could not compare it.

Rs 64 to Rs 96 a month is not much for a shopkeeper or a delivery rider who cannot afford to miss calls. For someone who keeps the phone charged, it is money spent on nothing.

What the alert tells you and when it arrives

Zong says the alert covers calls made while your phone is switched off or out of coverage. It sends one SMS per caller with the number of attempts, so ten tries from one person produce one message, not ten. The SMS appears from the caller's number.

That last detail confuses people. A message from your brother's number saying he called three times is not him texting you. It is Zong's alert.

Ufone says its service works on any handset, so an old keypad phone gets alerts too. But Ufone also says the service is unavailable during festive events such as Eid and 14 August. Those are exactly the days when networks are busiest, so do not rely on it then.

How to start and stop missed call alerts

Starting takes one SMS and stopping takes one SMS to the same short code. Keep the confirmation message, because it is your proof of the start date if a charge is disputed. The steps are the same on both networks.

  1. Open your SMS app on the Zong or Ufone number you want covered.
  2. Type SUB (Zong) or Sub (Ufone) and send it to 6226 (Zong) or 180 (Ufone).
  3. On Ufone, reply Y if a confirmation SMS asks you to.
  4. Switch the phone off for a minute and ask someone to call, to test it.
  5. To end the service, send UNSUB to 6226 or Unsub to 180.

If you never chose this service and see it in your account, stop it the same way. Ufone's VAS page says every value added service renews automatically until you unsubscribe.

Missed call alerts are one of several small daily charges

Missed call alerts often sit beside caller tunes, status messages and game subscriptions, each taking a few rupees a day. If your balance shrinks for no clear reason, check all of them. Each network lists its own stop codes.

On Zong, My Status stops with UNSUB to 6009, and the rest are in the Zong unsubscribe code list. On Ufone, bundles stop with the codes in the Ufone unsubscribe code list, and UTunes stops with UNSUB to 6666.

If calls never reach you even when the phone is on and has signal, the problem may be elsewhere. A forgotten forwarding setting sends calls to another number, and you can check and cancel call forwarding with one code.
