Places 11 to 15 went to Fabio Quartararo, Alex Rins, Francesco Bagnaia, Maverick Vinales and Iker Lecuona, with 5 to 1 points. Jack Miller was 16th and scored nothing. Johann Zarco, Diogo Moreira, Joan Mir and Augusto Fernandez did not finish; Fernandez lasted one lap.
Acosta set the fastest lap of the race, 1:59.261 on lap 2. Alex Marquez's pole lap was 1:56.493, just outside Francesco Bagnaia's circuit record of 1:56.337 from 2024.
Marquez scored 34 points at Sepang while Martin scored none
Marc Marquez took 9 points for second in Saturday's Sprint and 25 for Sunday's win, 34 in all. Jorge Martin did not race because of a broken wrist, so the gap between them grew from 10 points to 44 in one weekend.
Martin withdrew after second practice on Saturday morning, as MotoGP announced on 31 October. He does not appear in Sunday's classification. The Saturday story, with Acosta's Sprint win, is in our MotoGP Malaysia Sprint result.
| Rider | Before Malaysia | Sprint | Race | Now |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marc Marquez | 365 | 9 | 25 | 399 |
| Jorge Martin | 355 | 0 | 0 | 355 |
| Gap | 10 | 44 |
For Martin, this is the worst possible timing. He arrived close enough to take the lead. He leaves needing Marquez to have a bad weekend just to stay in the fight.
Marquez leads the MotoGP standings on 399 points
After 19 rounds Marc Marquez has 399 points, Jorge Martin 355 and Marco Bezzecchi 332. Pedro Acosta is fourth on 295 after a second and a Sprint win in Malaysia. Martin and Bezzecchi both ride for Aprilia.
| Pos | Rider | Team | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Marc Marquez | Ducati Lenovo Team | 399 |
| 2 | Jorge Martin | Aprilia Racing | 355 |
| 3 | Marco Bezzecchi | Aprilia Racing | 332 |
| 4 | Pedro Acosta | Red Bull KTM Factory Racing | 295 |
| 5 | Ai Ogura | SuperFile Trackhouse | 278 |
| 6 | Fabio Di Giannantonio | Pertamina Enduro VR46 | 265 |
| 7 | Raul Fernandez | SuperFile Trackhouse | 236 |
| 8 | Alex Marquez | BK8 Gresini Racing | 197 |
| 9 | Francesco Bagnaia | Ducati Lenovo Team | 173 |
| 10 | Enea Bastianini | Red Bull KTM Tech3 | 134 |

Marquez can win the title in Qatar if he outscores Martin by 31
Three rounds remain, each worth up to 37 points: 12 for a Sprint win and 25 for a race win. That is 111 points. Marquez becomes champion in Qatar if he leaves with a lead above 74, which means outscoring Martin there by 31 or more.
Here is how the maths works, step by step:
- Today the lead is 44 and 111 points are left, so the title is open.
- After Qatar, two rounds remain, worth 74 points.
- If Marquez's lead is 75 or more after Qatar, nobody can catch him.
- So he needs to gain 31 points on Martin in Qatar, and also stay more than 74 ahead of Bezzecchi, who starts 67 behind, by outscoring him by 8 or more.
- If Martin returns and scores well, the decision moves to Portugal or Valencia.
Bezzecchi is the forgotten threat. He is 67 behind, inside the 111 still available, so he cannot be ruled out yet. Acosta, 104 behind, is mathematically alive but only just.

The Qatar Grand Prix starts at 9:00 pm PKT on Sunday 8 November
The next round is in Qatar. The Sprint is at 9:00 pm PKT on Saturday 7 November and the Grand Prix at 9:00 pm PKT on Sunday 8 November, one hour before Formula 1's Brazil race starts. Portugal and Valencia follow on 22 and 29 November.
| Round | Sprint (PKT) | Race (PKT) |
|---|---|---|
| Qatar, Lusail | Sat 7 Nov, 9:00 pm | Sun 8 Nov, 9:00 pm |
| Portugal, Algarve | Sat 21 Nov, 8:00 pm | Sun 22 Nov, 6:00 pm |
| Valencia | Sat 28 Nov, 7:00 pm | Sun 29 Nov, 6:00 pm |
Every session for those weekends is in the MotoGP 2026 schedule in Pakistan time. Formula 1's champion was crowned the same weekend; that story is our Mexico Grand Prix 2026 result.
